Dr. Seuss day here dgd wore a fuzzy pj top frozen theme warmer than her others & jeans for warmth to school today. They used to encourage pillows not this teacher I am glad for that. Dgd is ready for the books beyond Dr. S Ones now. I 2 have thought of that cat making a mess!
Dgd picked out a frozen shirt short sleeved for her treat yesterday so need to find something to go with it for warmth it will go with other items in her wardrobe. (I hope.) I wish clothes shopping would be so much fun for me too!
31* - 48* here today colder 39* on Tues. Then up to 60* on the weekend here.
I have gotten a round of chore cards a m stuff done today yea.
will walk w ToddlerN this afternoon. Journal done next up dump trash.
Dsgson has orientation for his new job 2day.
Dee I have some of those areas too one under my shirt one on my arm. I need to run a load of dishes too.
WTG, Dee on your clean up efforts and figuring out the trip back logistics. I'd hate to deal with the wet things but you're hanging in there so well.
Bw2, we'll be thinking of you (and your dd) as well! Hope you are feeling better soon.
Elly and Kathryn, I was also quite troubled by the Cat in the Hat's mess, as well. I attributed it to feeling "out of control" by his actions, not so much that the kids had to deal with it it. I also had issues with suspenseful TV programs - the "saving Timmy" in every Lassie episode, the flying monkeys in Wizard of Oz. Much anxiety!
Harmony, I know you're stressed out by all the business things going on, but you're an exemplary record-keeper. I'm always impressed with you closing each month and year so promptly.
And agreeing with all about Harriet's guest - start assigning him some tasks and let the business of the household go on, instead of letting his visit drive the evening. If he were only there now and then, letting his visit take precedence would make sense, but he's there too much for you guys to tiptoe around him every evening.
I left dMacs at the vet for his Cushings test, they have to inject something similar to adrenaline, then draw blood an hour later for a before/after comparison. I will take Moses in at 3:15 for Xrays and bring Macs home then, and go back to pick up Moses after his Xray.
I'm kind of feeling at lose ends. Unsettled.
The best Dr Seuss costume I ever did for my kids was a a simple T-shirt (Sam I Am) for my ds who has the same name as the character in Green Eggs and Ham.

Yes that would bother me as well. Joke around here lately is that I'm always yelling at the kid in the 'photo bomb' commercial (think it's advertising whole house internet) to put his glass in the sink. Good thing he's a cute kid or I'd really be annoyed with that one. He shoves the glass to the middle of the island counter as he gets up to follow his big brother........ Used to be one of my big annoyances with gd16 as she always, always left a mess somewhere/all over and expected someone else to clean it up.
Speaking of gd16, I notice dd hasn't mentioned her now in at least a couple of weeks -at least none of the happenings with her. Think that's probably a good thing. Guardian would tell her if she asked, but at this point she's not asking. And by this summer when dd's plans are set, GD's will also be pretty well set I'm thinking. They'll either be heading abroad for a couple of years or she'll be going to military boot camp for a year. Right now dd/dsonil are paying child support (guardian has often told her that it's not necessary, but they feel it is). That will end when gd turns 18.
Did up the dishes and took care of a few more things in the kitchen. Dh has gone out to tinker in the workshop. Had to laugh at dd last night -dawned on her that dsonil has a 10x40 'man cave' in the form of the workshop. And now they have a 10x10 (or so) 'art' room that they share. Her question, "What's up with that?" She doesn't really care and the room will come together nicely as time goes by. I'm going to try to clean off/out a large bookcase unit in our room for her to put along one wall in there to hold materials/supplies. Haven't said so to her yet, as I'm not sure that will/can happen. It used to be in their living room as part of their TV case. Guess first up will be for me to clean out our antique bookcase and see how many books I can send for donations or store some in a bin.
Need to have Moses to the vet in about an hour. He really seems to feel miserable. Was lying by the door when I got home, has moved to the bedroom dog beds, but otherwise has not moved at all. I laid down with him for awhile and snuggled.
Making myself hot chocolate. Temp is around 50 but I am feeling cold today. I'm going to try to get a few things done...

Did strip and remake bed and did the first load of laundry. Started the second before walking out with dh for lunch at the bagel place.
Can't believe it is 3 p.m. and I haven't started my day yet. I have done lots but not near enough. And I'm still hungry so will have an apple and peanut butter.
At least the walk but the housework before hand has got me up to 6K steps so far today.
The weather looked lovely (high 20s & sun) but we didn't take the wind into account and there are snow squalls. Walk to the bagel shop was fine because the wind was at our back but the walk home was awful in places with our faces being stung by the driving snow. The sun would come and go - a really bi-polar weather day. Glad to be inside now and off to put on a sweater because I'm cold (I only have a short sleeved shirt on because the day started out so lovely.)
Home again. Will go back for Moses in a couple of hours. He may need to be sedated a bit to Xray. Elizabeth, vet also mentioned possibility of tumors in Goldens - our old vet said they were "tumor factories" so he's looking at everything. The striking thing is that Moses just does not feel well enough to get around. He got his adrenaline up at the vet and acted more normal but vet said he knew it was still hurting him.
Macs' bloodwork was good on some things, worse on others. The Cushings test doesn't come back for a couple of days.
For some reason I get a jolt of energy some late afternoons - I don't know if it's a circadian rhythm type thing or just desperation to get something done instead of blowing the day off. So....
-empty dishwasher
-clear kitchen counters
-reboot the laundry (started a lol earlier)
-send a needed email
-upstairs: bring down the trash so I can get the trash out for tomorrow

(((Moses))) we really feel for our village's pets.
I took a semi-snooze and now am trying to be busy again. Have our bed covered with books, etc from our antique bookcase. Need to just finish that up. Feel good that I decluttered a lot of it. Plan to put my cookbooks on there as I love them as much as a good book. Now mind you, I don't cook a lot -I just like to look through them.
An article from a month ago, that I missed until recently, about the success of US public schools. 2 new studies out regarding public schools worldwide and in US specifically.
Called the school and asked for a guidance appt for dd. Because of snow, they had to cancel the AP night, at which she could have gotten someone to look at her schedule with her. Then we learn from 1st period teacher today that the usual individual mini-sessions with counselors don't seem to be scheduled this year. I hope he's wrong. Dd really needs some advice. With first period (French) teacher's advice only - very caring teacher, but new to school and to US education, for that matter - with her pencil hovering between choices she went with honors chemistry next year. Then later, she confided in me, she cried over adding that to an already tough year, when all she really dreams of is finally getting into some art classes. (It's also her hormone week, lol.) So we're going to get her some advice fast, I hope.
Went to post office, but forgot the stop at the bank on the way back. Got another check when I came back home, so went back out, stopped at 2 banks.
Swept and mopped floor. Helped DSiL empty her car of our tools/supplies. Spreadsheets are done as far as I could go. DH came home with crappola from the house they're working in. Christmas lights. Big bucket of lightbulbs. Some things to recycle. A big nativity set with figures over a foot high. Sigh... and I've been throwing things out...
Good afternoon everyone! Today was my payroll group's two week planning session and I have a boatload of tasks to do. That is not a complaint, I WANT to have payroll tasks. It decreases the chance of layoffs. Yesterday, DD13 and I made Sunday School and church. So glad I did, found out that one of my SS friends is getting divorced (not her choice) and is worried about finances. Also found out about a financial planning class that is being held at church. It sounds interesting, but is priced for couples. If I have to pay for two, I am going to see if she can be my plus-one. (DD13 is far too young for this).
While DD was with the youth group at a movie, I got some Java studying done. I have found that there is something wrong with the way my security settings handle java applets and was unable to fix it. However, I can still learn everything else, and will know where to find the applet info. I also did some filing and collection of tax documents for my appointment tomorrow. On the train today, I started a big sister gift. I have restarted doll of the week, where I bring in a doll from my collection for my office. It's a lot safer here than at my house with six cats.
Tonight, it is essential that I get the rest of the tax documents together. It would also be good to type some animal org minutes.
<SIGH> Just got off the phone to find out when the minutes need to be done. Not this Wed as I thought, but next. That part was good. The bad part is one of our cat foster coordinator is considering resigning over a problem with our dog foster coordinator. This will leave an enormous hole. I advised her not to do anything hasty, but to direct his attack emails to /dev/null. We have already lost one of our most reliable clinic volunteers to illness so serious she is moving back to family. We do NOT need to lose more. <SIGH>
I'm really hoping Twins' Mom's Mac gets a good report. I would like to hear some good animal news today.
