Sunday Superlatives

Hi Everyone! It is very overcast here today and quite breezy. We may have some stormy weather moving our way.

We are ready and waiting for dfam#2. Ds-J called yesterday to say they were coming for lunch instead of suppertime, and bringing food so we don't have to cook. They will all be here except dgd20 who is working today.

Aaaaah! Proms! The Facebook feed last night was full of prom pictures as several schools here had proms last night. Glad that your dd was home early and had a good time in spite of the music choices!

Yes, he is! Graduation next Sat afternoon!

Nice weather is back today. I spent Friday afternoon at the library, where I found that the print from microfilm doesn't happen anymore, and that one brings a USB drive to save documents. Since I didn't have a drive, I perused some books for surnames and made some notes and thoroughly enjoyed being there. Relaxed with a pizza on Friday night - dh out of town. Yesterday I only did what I wanted: took dMacs to PT, then did a lot of genealogy referencing, and then read a book until 12:30 a.m. Then slept poorly and didn't get up until late.

I feel pretty energetic for today - need to get moving. Dh isn't back until about 8:30 this evening, if he makes his connections.

PODA for today:
-get organized for the week
-work outside on getting raised veggie bed in
-go to Lowes/Home depot/specialty nursery for veggies and herbs
-maybe some stamping time, or organization time in upstairs bonus room
-what else?

For right now:
-refill meds containers for the week
-s2s
-wipe up kitchen counters
-start a load in washer - need to wash small rug for laundry room, I don't know if colors will run so it goes separately
-get rid of 10 pieces of paper, they are piling up here!

I am taking break from assembly and am going to walk up to the open house up the street and see what it looks like inside. Dh called, his flight to ATL is delayed, so he may miss flight from ATL to here, and later flights are full right now. May mean a late shuttle home (there is a shuttle between ATL and here) and me picking him up at the shuttle location.

Sounds like it was a lovely prom experience for dd and the young man, Harriet. Yes, good job to them for getting home at 11:30. Too bad about the music. It is always heartening to hear of kids who enjoy their prom night in responsible healthy ways.

Church. Lunch out at a bbq place - I think it is NC barbecue. I've run my errand to the Korean groc. store to get the beef for T. night + odds and ends. Dd16 has been looking at schools from the list I found - it was compiled by Business Insider - and is now investigating possible majors and minors at various schools, looking at course requirements and specific course descriptions. Now, her first choice seems to be SCAD, which had been on our radars since day 1. . . . . Since I've visited Savannah, GA before and know what a pretty little town it is (and I know of a delightful B & B there), I'm peculiarly interested in that option. LOL!

OK, we're off to a church meeting next. We're electing our search committee to find a new pastor. Dh refused to be nominated (he's still very involved with the process so far and is getting burnt out) and he said I came close to being nominated, but he made sure I wasn't. All good - I would have said "no" anyway. . . . .

It is a rare quiet time in the house so I sat down to CUOP because I am missing coming here regularly and needed my SHE fix. Time seems to pass in a blur. I just checked and discovered it has been 10 days since my last post I would have guessed 3-4 days.

I am hoping by the end of this coming week the ongoing construction will finish up. Having workmen in our home every weekday for the past 4 weeks is seriously messing with my productiveness. I am looking forward to returning to normal.....whatever that is.

Being restricted to less time at PC could be a blessing. If I ever get the chance to have regular time here, you might regret it. I have so much I want to share that I might need to change my name to Chatty LM.

DGD3 just woke up from her nap and my phone has buzzed with multiple txt messages since I sat down here. So much for my quiet time. *POOF*

LOL, LadyM... it seems to be feast-or-famine with me. I am either Chatty Lucylee, or Non-Existent Lucylee.
I don't know what is going on with me lately... just no computer time, apparently. I try to cuop on the phone from time to time, but it is so hard to post much that way, and of course by the time I DO post, I have forgotten everything I wanted to say, and I am just completely out of the loop in every way. * sigh *

It seems congratulations are in order for helia's dd? Although I missed what the award WAS...

And I was so happy to see that the prom went well for Harriet's dd! (Re: music -- I think that hip-hop style stuff is common at all proms today, and leads to some kinda raunchy dancing, for those so inclined, I fear. I have seen some prom videos that led me to instruct students: Please do not dance in such a way that you will be embarrassed to show this video to your grandparents! *sigh * I have no question that Harriet's dd would refrain from such activities, however, and can definitely sympathize with her and her friends re: the musical offerings. Boys do seem to prefer crazy dance music to romantic, slow dances, I think. My boy, of course, was not impressed w/any of the music at HIS prom, much to his date's displeasure. 1950s country music and bluegrass do NOT seem to be popular with prom crowds, LOL.)

Helia, I don't blame you and your dh for steering clear of the search committee. My ddad was on the committee that selected the pastor that subsequently left while ddad was in Houston. That pastor is now the pastor at the church dmom decided to attend recently.
Mmmm... Savannah seems like such a nice town. I've only been there once, for only a day-long visit, btw, so my opinion is extremely superficial!

Sorry Mr. Twins is having a rough travel day.

And sorry about Mr. Sunny's fall AND the traffic mishap! So glad there were no serious injuries either time!

I saw something about your EPL team earlier... if it is anything like American college football, I can certainly relate your being "devastated," btw... college football in this state is... well... people are just crazy. People including my dh, actually. But he has LOTS of company.

(((Kathryn))) for knee pain. DH is very impressed with the $600 WillowCurve product. He uses it for about 45 minutes each day, and says he feels better than he has in a long time! For that price, he should. But it's cheaper than surgery, and MUCH MUCH easier.

Over the weekend, dgs was here all day Friday. Spent the night Thursday and did not sleep well, so I did not sleep well, and Friday was kinda a blur.
Yesterday, realizing I had not spoken to dmom since MONDAY, I started calling and got a constant busy signal... so finally decided I should go out and see about her. (I had called her on Wed. and left message, but she never returned my call, and then TH/FRI happened and the week got away from me.) Well, she was just fine. Cleaning out closets, busy busy busy. Her phone cord was slightly disconnected and that was causing the busy signal.
DGS spent the night again last night, at our request, b/c we knew ddil wouldn't get him and herself to church without ds's help, so we kept him and took him to church with us this morning. He slept GREAT last night, but I didn't. I don't know why, unless it was too much nap time yesterday? So... dgs and I went to the grocery store and got milk for him and Gatorade for his mommy, and after returning him to his house, I read the paper and took a nap today.
* OH * sweet moment * DGS picked me a dandelion today. First time I've received flowers from this sweet boy. He also picked one for his mommy.

Tomorrow is teacher's lunch... I will have to make my apologies for blowing off a bridal shower today. Daughter of one of my fellow retirees. She was actually one of MY teachers and former co-workers, and the daughter is one of my former students, but I was just not willing to do the thing today. Allergies bothering me... tired... I just wasn't up to it. I have not seen the daughter in YEARS, and that was sorta a reason to go... but sorta a reason NOT to go, too, if you know what I mean. DDIL says this custom of inviting EVERYONE when you get married is a Southern thing, LOL.

Now I can't stand it - all lucylee's fault that I decide to post this story.

The early morning rehearsal crowd at church is very aware of dd's life, of course. She was instantly asked about prom and rolled her eyes about the music, so she was taking a little teasing. At the same time, pianist and minister were seeing that he had misspelled two words in the psalm: "overthrown" and "scorned" were typed "overtrown" and "scrooned" in our lead sheets, so he was taking a little teasing, too. Pianist called to him, over the general chat of our guitarist, dd and me. "Now, how is it you spell that correctly, again?" And without missing a beat, minister called back distinctly, "t-w-e-r-k".

Waving back, lucylee. My dad was such a sports fan that I grew up liking all the major U. S. sports including football. He was never a fan of soccer, however, but I thought it would be an ideal sport for my children since players are constantly running and it can be played at an early age. All three of our kids played soccer, the younger two were in the top leagues in the state. They had coaches who had played professionally in England, Scotland, Mexico, and Bulgaria, so we all became major soccer fans.
I like college football, as well as the NFL, and am even watching a baseball game right now. Just having a relaxing day off.

I'm afraid I am running out steam, especially knowing that I may need to be up late to pick up dh. And my head is hurting. I went out to Michaels and walked through looking for a cork for a vase that functions as my dish soap by the sink. I bought it several years back at an arts festival with the cork and pump but the cork has deteriorated over the years and needs to be replaced. No luck there. Went on to L owes and picked out veggies - two tomato plants, two pepper plants and a squash plant. I might have room for one more plant. Also got a couple more basil plants, we can go through it in the summer. And then I stopped at F ive G uys for a burger.

It's cloudy and windy and cooler now - somehow I didn't expect it and it doesn't make me want to work outside.

I think I'll take some ibuprofen and take the phone upstairs and putter with stamping, waiting for dh to call to let me know something. He's not answering his phone, so I assume that means that his flight from El Paso to ATL at least left EP.
