I walked no rain today just fog sort of missed the fun umbrella walks!
Picked up branches I pruned in back last evening they are in carport still need to go in the big can.
Had lunch left over meat & baking powder bicsuits.

I'm curious about camps. Is it something that is normal everywhere? Did you attend camps when you were growing up? Did your children and/or grandchildren attend camps?

This week is camp #3 for us. After this week, there is a week break then two more weeks of activities (VBS and camp #4). Then we will be done with camps for the summer. We will have a month of no structure before school starts.

Church was good this morning. DH and I were in the nursery during Sunday School. This was the first time I heard our new intern pastor preach. I like his style and found myself staying totally focused & engaged in the entire message.

I need to do a little planning & prep for the week. Meal planning needs to happen. Now that DS13 is back home, our food intake has seemed to double.

LM camps are normal our church annouced camp today. 4 square.
Church camp cousins & kids just had last week in Ark. Babtists.
Boy scout camp common. N. Ida.
Girls had day camp. Local. Camp firegirls. It was ok. Mom was the leader.

I went one time, hated it bc they did not have a pool & did not go back.I was about 12 yr. Old. Was with 4 friends.
I went to one in high school as a sr. And it was better they had a pool. First time I had traveled alone.

Taa daa - cleaned gutter on the deck area, definately was needed seeds in it. I will be doing one section at day or e.o.d., [every other day ]
Till done. Only took a few min.

Spiffed up the deck post gutter clean up. Raining agsin glad I did it when I did.

Lady M, most of our Dks went to the NYState American Baptist camp nearly every year. Dh worked there off and on as a volunteer DD worked there a couple of summers as Camp Nurse. They all loved their experiences there. Don't think our youngest ever went but he and DS-R did attend several hockey camps over summers (but those weren't overnight camps as the Baptist camp was). Know dh went one year as a camp counselor. We still try to support it.

Been riding my cycle some but think I'll rest for a bit and then back at it.

Supper tonight will be asparagus (dh), baked sweet potato (dh) baked russet potato (me) and home made meatloaf (both).

IF you notice any posts of mine with "d" missing, it's my keyboard, not anything to do with the state of our marriage... LOL!! Poured rain here this afternoon.

LadyM, are you asking about sleep away camp or day camps? Once your kids age, mine went to sleep away camps although there were some day camps too. DD usually went to the Jewish camp - I don't know if you remember but she stayed almost four weeks. They do two week sessions for maybe 7-8 y/o but beyond that it's four weeks. Ds didn't care to be away from home but went to Space camp at Huntsville, AL. That was how he got on the mailing list for GA Tech, which was how he ended up there.

As a kid, I did some one week girl scout camps and church camps, and there was always girl scout day camp and VBS and all those.

Tonight is the last dose of the Paxlovid meds. They make my mouth taste terrible!

Cathy - I was wondering!

I made a loose plan of things I'm cooking this week for us and others. For us - Salisbury Steak, Hamburgers, BBQ, mac & cheese, Spaghetti & meat balls, Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken, Jambalaya & Shrimp, and Sourdough bread . Also I'm taking a meal to Faith's family tomorrow evening and will need enough to feed 4 adults and 4 children there. I'm making BBQ, mac & cheese & green beans to take them. I'm also taking a side dish to elderberries luncheon on Tuesday. I'm making a Bigger Green Salad for that so I will be sure to have something that I want to eat.

Thanks for sharing your camp experiences. I found it interesting how attending camp sometimes changes the course of your life.

I seem to be addicted to stir fry. That is all that sounds good to me.

I think that happens when you get hooked on a lot of variety and then a plate of just a few things seems to be missing something.

Today we chose to eat no breakfast to "save up" for the planned lunch at dstepdil's house including dd23 as well. That was very nice, and she gave us leftovers to take home but that will likely be for HRH. My second meal (last? not sure) was a seriously big veggie sandwich of shredded carrot/squash mixture blended with a little veggie mayo, and strips of cool cucumber on large grain bread slices. Paper plate for that so yay me, very few dishes today. bonus!

Tobias also likes the shredded carrot-squash. Cats are very appreciative of (some) veggie bits.

Camp chat -
only church camp for me, 2 times. Ds once went to church camp, same one. Dd42 went to Math Camp at a Women's College campus in the northeast, which cost us more than we should have spent, perhaps, but we couldn't say she didn't learn a lot. Dd23 was not able to go to church camp (again, would have been same one) because our youth group dissolved before she grew into it and no sister church offered to include anyone else. (Maybe I should have made a stink, but she would still have had no friend going.)

Change course of life, though? Hmmm. Well, not for any of us, I don't think. HRH would not have a happy thought on that, LadyM. At his church camp when he was young, he says he learned more about the frailties/hypocrisy of adults than anything else. They would sing inclusive songs along with the song leader, listen to brotherly love sermons, then deride anyone different in private, so he went home disillusioned.
