That is so horrible, blessed -- the incident with the teenagers, and also the news about the young boy who was paralyzed. Just too much tragedy and evil in our society today.

Harriet, I am also thinking of your (extended) family, and poor HRH, having to comfort and advise TWO crying ladies... (((BIG HUGS))).

Dee -- (((HUGS))) for Mr. Dee and you as you try to help and support him through all this.
My dgs currently wears Adidas velcro sneakers. I saw a grown man in the exact same shoe just the other day, so I know they have adult sizes. DGS, unfortunately, will be going to middle school, still unable to tie shoelaces. I don't know what he will do when/if he is unable to find velcro. We have commented sometimes, when in the midst of a basketball or baseball game and time is called for a boy to tie his shoes... if this happens to dgs, the coach will have to go out and tie it for him. LOL.
He also refuses to take the training wheels off his bicycle. Sooo intelligent, but I guess motor skills will take a while to catch up. :?

Disagreeable conversation w/dh... it appears I was "taking ddil's side" (vs ds) just now on phone... did not mean to do that... sigh...

Dgrands are both staying with other grandparents tonight, we will have them both tomorrow and I am taking them to a historic site and maybe a movie & a play (weather permitting.) Nice to have a Friday night "off." Even if dh is in a mood.

I missed yesterday's THANKFUL posts...
So today, I am thankful for
-- this crazy family I'm in
-- enough material blessings that I don't have to worry about where my next meal is coming from or where I will sleep tonight
-- a Christian faith that sustains me even when it appears I'm spinning out of control
-- all of YOU ladies and the friendship, support, and wisdom I've gained here
Tomorrow is another day.

hello again - I have spent 2 hours on my car - it had gotten bad: muddy dogs, mushroom compost, dirt, straw, plants, fertilizer and a very dirty old me!
it still needs so much more but I vacuumed it, sprayed the seats with dawn spray, washing them and wiping with paper towels - it needs another layer of dirt to be washed off but I am done with this today. I put the nice clean dog cover over the back seats again.

time to empty the shop vacuum that my d brother borrowed me. time to put the garbage in the can. I need to check if I have enough landscape stuff for compost bin.

I am drained but I have to look for the good - then I will get my energy back. I know there is more good than bad.

d Lucy!
Understandable about dgs not tying shoes yet - I am sure that a lot of kids and coach will help him! A girl who dd older went to school with struggled with her motor skills. Incredibly intelligent - she became a dr. She couldn't ride a bike but had lots of physical therapy to help her improve her motor skills.

it's better for they handle their own issues with each other - like d harriet said the other day when I was talking about my dd younger - if they only listened to us! lol -

what a wonderful list of gratitude!!

hi d dee it's so hard to be tired and weak - praying for your dh!!! if only we could convince our better halves to rest rather than work. dh constantly thinks his work is who he is and when he's not able to work - he tends to feel he is not as valuable.

time to clean up what I tore apart.
it is always a joy to be here with you!

put away done
all the floor mats washed and put away
dh sweetly offered some of his vinyl spray but I had already worked for 2-1/2 hours and I couldn't do another thing on my car.
I think I have to go back to weekly - Friday - car day again.

I don't think I can do one more thing. ta ta for now!.

I have the young man that helps me with the garden coming tomorrow. I want to finish the hardscape in the back.
I didn't weed anything today.
it is always a joy to be here with you!

My day is fabulous now!
Napped very soundly was snoring.
Mowed the rest of the back yard yea!
Found my first ripe tomato when I watered the plant cage.

Forgot to water before I rolled the hose up so mowed tonight instead of Sat.
then I watered.
Had some shade and it's in the 80's so not to bad.
Dusted the liv. room before I mowed.
More hydration happening now.

((blessed)) when the kid tries to find someone to whom he can "spread around" your license number, I wonder where he will turn. He will look around himself and realize that he knows absolutely no one in any able position, only children just like he in both mentality and standing. He likely didn't even consider remembering it. I'm not sure the kind of venue you're talking about, but there may have been cameras. It's possible he's already in trouble. The other boy who didn't want to participate could very well turn out to be quite a gossip. That's often the fear of the young boy - a peer who might tell young girls uncomfortable truth.

Dd42 called and invited me to a trip out with grocery pickup and take-out pickup. I hung out later but didn't really eat with them - just french fries and one donut with the boys. She picked up a mixed-flat box of those before coming home, too. But they were not from the really good yeast-raised company. They were from the company HRH calls a chain of coffee shops that decided on donut-shaped cakes to sell with their coffee. Still, tasty and completely inappropriate.

She gave me two big packages of smoothie base (pea protein powder?) with all kinds of nutritious ingredients, because she doesn't like the flavor. I intend to put cocoa in it and turn it chocolate rather than the vanilla she says is disappointing. These always come with a scoop I ignore. I just want a portion of what they suggest, added to a lot of fresh and frozen things.

I'm quite tired from a long day and will likely head to an early bedtime.
