My energy has been pretty good but I think I just petered out. I did walk three laps. I stopped at M's house to see if she wanted to walk and talk but she had just gotten back from her walk and the nature center. I stopped and talked a few and caught up.

I have four hours today that I've had 250 steps, and I'm at almost 5K for the day. Yesterday I only had 2500.

I might lie down for a few minutes instead of heading upstairs to stamp. I feel whipped.

I didn't get this posted - laid down for 30 minutes but wasn't sleeping. Going to stamp a little before I need to s2s to go to dinner later.

hi again
I took off the garland on the stairs. it dried out - my fault - I forgot to soak it and then use wilt stop on it. The garland was very crisp!
I put up a shorter fake garland and made it look like the same. I will be interested to see if dd older and dd younger will notice the difference. I would love to get a good quality fake garland for the future.

dogs need exercise but I am waiting until older dog gets her stitches out tomorrow.

finished everything in the dining room - it is nice and clean now and looks festive. All presents are wrapped.

frustration with d mom's dentist - I am rarely firm but today I had to be. They took her.

Twins: when you do your 250 steps each hour, do you do them inside the house or go outside? I'm thinking this might be a way for me to get moving.

I did get out for a walk in the sun. I actually walked up and down a dead-end I've never been on (just a block from here!) It is completely in the sun and far enough away from the complex that there's no wind-tunnel effect. When I got home, I tried walking up the west side of the building but only got half way before the wind started to make it unpleasant. Technically, there is almost no wind and what there is is from the east. I'm only at 3500 steps for the day so far on my pedometer (and 4800 on my fitness watch cuz it counts almost every step while my pedometer makes me walk 20 before starting to count.)

Dinner is in the oven.

My Covid test is negative. I'll called through the door to dh, "I'm negative!" <pause> "And my covid test was negative too!"

Ds called while I was in the middle of it so had to call back. He was calling to remind me to take a test so was glad I had remembered.

I did the first test of the mailing labels. The results worked but the data is bad. I can only do 30 at a time and am limited to 11 more tries. We have 48 to do this year so it will be two passes and that many less for next year. Dh found a package of 400 blank conference badge label sheets so we are using those and will take back the labels I bought. I figure those will be a lifetime supply!

I just reread the CDC instructions and corrected my post earlier. While isolation ends at the end of 5 days, he still has to wear a mask for 10 days when inside around others, either at home or in a public place.

So, technically, he doesn't have to be isolated now. I will make him stay isolated though, partly because I'm bitter and it makes cleaning precautions easier. Also we still can't eat or sleep together, so at most, we can sit in the same room and watch TV.

What I don't understand is Covid is airborne. So if he's in a room, not with me, and not masked (allowed after 5 days) any virus will still be in the room if I walk into shortly later when he's not there.

I get the majority of my 250 steps an hour inside. I have a path in two rooms that I walk while scrolling social media on my phone. It takes less than 3 minutes to get 250 steps. That fact is useful to just do them when I really don't wanna.

I don't do the 250 hour step goal on Sundays. Yesterday my total steps were 4600 which is half of what I get when I'm doing the 250 steps an hour.

On tonight's menu... pork chops with mushroom gravy, boiled potatoes with skins on and more green beans from the garden for dh.

I had an appointment at 1:30 and when I got home I had a large salmon sandwich. (a can of salmon mixed with some mayo and black pepper) The smallest cat had the liquid from the can of salmon and she licked that bowl clean.

(Wrote earlier and didn’t post….)

Hey, all!

I am writing while taking breaks in folding laundry — DH’s undershirts, in particular. The drawer in which he keeps them has very little room, so they must be folded in a precise manner to fit. I’m tempted to grumble and ask why he had to reorganize his drawers, but I would be a hypocrite, since I just reorganized mine.

Now I’m matching socks, because not all white socks are created equal. Some of them have the school logo on them, and of course, they’re all a little different. Alas. He’d happily do this himself, but I have no idea when he’s getting home, and I need the basket for another load. I suppose I could send the basket full of unfolded clothes upstairs and dump it on the bed to have the basket back, but that sounds like a recipe for disaster. So I will send the basket up (have one of the kids take it, because I can’t manage the steps with this basket) and put the folded clothes away to have the basket back. Then we can deal with load #2. Sorry to bore you with the details of my laundry. I may be guilty of stretching the break out a bit.

I don’t envy Kathryn the 5 inches of “flurries.” Although in an apartment, I suppose there’s someone else who takes care of the shoveling.

We may have some “failure to launch” here. My strategy to keep them young to avoid trouble worked, but it’s backfiring in the adulting department. I figured the year in the apartment would have DD a little more independent, but she’s fallen back in the pattern of “Mom does the stuff.” She will gladly do things when asked, but I’m not good at asking.

Annnd DH got home just in time to carry the laundry up himself!

Harmony, I can see how you would be frustrated. The knee thing hanging over your heads.

We had a surprise call from a friend asking to come visit. He arrived with a box of chocolates! What a man of wisdom, lol. Stayed a couple hours and we really enjoyed the chat, but it took quite a bite out of my day.

Dd42's boys didn't all feel included in the gift I already handled for them. They gave me an envelope of folding money from the three youngest with two more suggestions and I handled that immediately because there was barely time to order and expect arrival.

Can't find the tree skirt. I'd thought it would look cheery around a small tree. It must have been packed into a Christmas box we won't be opening. Oh well, did find the matching table runner. Hadn't thought of that as a decor item here.

Ornament making of the day is chronicled in A, C and N thread. That was creative fun and good for me.

The 3 final gifts ( not final after all since boys asked for more help ) did arrive, along with HRH's computer mouse that was not supposed to be available. So, yay for that.

I wrapped one more but the day got away from me. I have the next two set up to wrap on the bar with their papers.
BTW - wrapped meaning wrapped with paper, not given bows or tags. So still plenty to do.

Joining Mystery in laundry - today was the Gorilla shower mat as well. I really like that thing and how it keeps cleaning up so nicely in the washing machine as though it's new again. A better product than I had been using.
