The moving of our passwords from Lastpass to 1Password did not take 5 minutes.

It took almost 4 hours.

That is due to the fact:

1. I followed the wrong set of instructions and made the export file first (instead of making it while in the middle of the import - my mind couldn't grock starting an import without an export file in existence.)

2. As a result the move over didn't import the passwords in their folders and all neat. But there was a reverse this and start over. I did that. The next time I tried the import, Lastpass helpfully created an export file with 2x the passwords.

3. As a result of that, we tried again. Now we had 3x the passwords. And any username or note that was just a number was converted to scientific notation and not convertible back to the number.

4. At this point, I've managed to move in the passwords but there's a certain portion of them corrupted. I suspect it is under 30 and vote to manual fix. Dh votes to solve the problem. That new Chatgpt AI confidently told him he could do it. I knew Chatgpt was lying. There is no way to mass delete passwords and you can't delete the primary vault (it was lying about both.)

5. Dh is now fully involved and we moved to his machine (and log-in) and he learns I'm right.

6. I convince him to just delete the 1Password account and start over with the stuff we know now. At worst, we'd make new mistakes but I was pretty sure we had made most of them already. He managed to perfectly import the 450+ passwords and secure notes. All attachments are missing (to be expected) but they were all sorted properly and no scientific notation problems. It took 5 minutes, as advertised.


7. At this point all my passwords that are not in shared folders are missing (to be expected). Turns out there were 157 of them. Now when I generated the export file from Lastpass we were up to 2900 entries (6x the true number.) After almost an hour and 3 tries I figured out how to get only mine into a vault (by now we know NEVER put anything in the primary vault.)

Now, we have, between us, over 600 passwords to change. I've done 10 so far. I'm hoping I've successfully updated my SHE password. If not, I may disappear forever.

It 2:18 and I'm still in my robe. I have to shower as well today so it isn't just a matter of dressing quickly.

It is heavy housework day and the bed isn't even stripped.

To say I'm in a mood, is an understatement.

I am waiting at Wmart auto center for new tires. I am so aggravated since realizing I could have saved over $200 by having tires delivered to my house and maybe skipping Wmart entirely and having our trusted oil change man do the installation.
BUT — dh says it’s worth the $ to avoid all that trouble.
Ds says he doesn’t understand why we deal with Wmart to begin with — they always take forever. He buys tires at family-owned dealer in Next Town and says, “I can go over there and get back while y’all are waiting at Wmart.”
Sigh…

Also having some anxiety re: ds bc I told him last night we were selling the rental home when/if these people ever move.
Ds does NOT want us to sell. He said he will buy it, will mortgage his rental house “if daddy has to have the money right then.” But he is also thinking, I know, that the house would go to him at our deaths, so why not just let him take over expenses of it when we change renters?
More sighs.

I know I’m borrowing trouble… no property is changing hands today. One day at a time…
At least we are all basically healthy right now.

LadyM, I wish I had a good sturdy stepladder! I always use a chair when I can’t reach something.

Dh is at chiropractor while I’m waiting here at Wmart.
I have sooo much I need to do — laundry, change sheets, take down Christmas, slice a HUGE ham that was a Christmas gift, and church meeting at 5:15 tonight.
And tomorrow I have to have dmom at doctor’s appointment in Next Town at 8:30 AM. Ugh.

The next time you go to your oil change man, ask if he has tire equipment. If he does, then talk to him about tires. You can get a tire change and balancing without an alignment. Alignment machines are very expensive to put in a small shop. Walmart is like that with tires, prescriptions, etc. ... they want you to come in and shop while you are waiting.

I finally emptied the Christmas stuff off the dining room table to downstairs where it still needs to be separated
flip flopped laundry a couple times - put away
turned on dw
put recycling out
wiped the top of the washer and dryer

dh's white blood cell count is higher than it should be but he tested negative to staph - yay - we have had one bad nurse and the remainder wonderful. I wish I could double their salary.

today is Monday so I may try to do my Monday routines

Elizabeth, that is all such good news for you and really great to realize you are at the right place at the right time, able to help when you can, etc.

Mystery, eat stuff that chases away those thoughts - it's not perfect, but it's something proactive to do for them. Have a few Brazil nuts, eat potatoes, whatever else you might learn is a booster of better moods. Also, I have a dear friend who is so attractive, competent and charming she'd be a great person for you to go see - she's in your mirror, ready with a wink if you'll wink first.

Ladders - first, let me recommend keeping a rolling two-step library stool in the home. The one we have (called the "kik step") was my dmother's from decades ago and still works well, grips the floor safely whenever I need to step up one or two steps. I have a spot under our kitchen table where I can keep it stored without even knowing it's there until needed and roll it out quickly.
Otherwise, we're different now because we've gone to an all-8-ft-ceiling house now without stairs and without high-ceiling staircase or high-ceiling porch. But I do agree with Nancy that if someone else has ladders, let them come handle it. Trade or barter work with someone who is used to very tall ladders if you really need height.
HRH says he is impressed with this one and has considered buying it for us. You can put the tools you need in the pockets, then set the ladder up and the tools will be there when you get up there.

Desk - I think this counts. I deleted about 1,000 emails. They arrive and start multiplying like rabbits in there.

I have ladders here but cannot lift or move the extension ladder with out help I do not even try. I helped put it away and it stays there by the shed next to the fence. I can handle the 6' ? ladder pretty well, for trimming fruit trees picked fruit I rarely use it but is handy for if needed.

I have been all over town played some shopped some and got Rx & food.
Updated T. shot with whooping cough as well.
Put stuff away glad for my wagon to use b/c it was raining and I could stay under the carport.

I thrifted some baskets for the cleaned out ent. center.
A couple of books to gift.
Got me a new coffee mug. Counting this for an art date.

We have enough ladders around here for our whole village. Afixed to a bracket at one end and chain at the other are 2 (3?) ladders on the ceiling of big work truck. In the house are a 4-step stepladder about the same as Harriet's picture. On the back porch needing put away (with the 4-step ladder) is a taller one 5-step. Then the 2 tall extension ladders we own live propped up against two of the lumber racks which go way up into the ceiling of the shop. How else can we get supplies or lumber off those tall shelves? Then the neighborhood busybody handyman asked if he could leave an extra tall extension ladder and extra tall (at least 6 steps) stepladder around the side of our house where we have a cement pad...and DH nicely said sure. How else can he get way up into trees to trim them?

Shop ceiling is way up there (I don't know the height) and we rigged a double length extension ladder which attaches to the top of the opening into the trusses and folds up and we navigate that one up and down with a pulley system on the wall to pull it up to the ceiling and let it drop down to the floor. That's how we get up to service the air handler part of the a/c system. We have a ladder that folds up into the ceiling of the garage also...originally our air handler was supposed to go up there but the a/c co. said no, they wanted the other space. We are supposed to have storage up there, but that ladder is a bit steep and I'm unable to use it.

The ladder I use the most is a 2-step stepstool which lives in my master closet. I have to use that to get to the top shelf of the pantry. I think this house is a disaster waiting to happen. Of course that's not even counting the 2 sets of scaffolding high up on the top of the walls in the shop, along with the planks that make surfaces to sit/walk on or work from. These are definitely for sale if anyone has a need.

All that said, when I went out on the back porch for something I saw my 2 step ladders and thought good I'll do something while DH is out. I used the 4-step ladder and went around the house getting about 6-7 feet along the gutters, pulling out the sand, roof debris, leaves, twigs, pine needles, whatever and throwing on the ground. 4 steps down, move the ladder, 4 steps up, clean the gutter, over and over. I got everything done but one little stretch in back of the shop where DH has too much stuff to set the ladder, and all the gutters around the shop which is way higher. Course, DH came back while I was working and tried to rig up the pipes to vacuum which didn't work...and the downspouts are a problem still and we need some work there. I raked it all into a big pile which DH took care of.

I hold on to the ladder with both hands, first making sure it is sitting sturdy, not rocking, and going up and down I count out loud 1, 2, 3, 4 as I go up and down 1 step at a time. I am very aware how dangerous it is. DH was saying he'd get the taller ladder and try that...nooooooo. I do everything I can to keep him off ladders and roofs now. At 4 steps I could just reach the gutters but couldn't really see inside them. They definitely need rinsed now.

A lot of stuff fell into my hair and clothes. I vacuumed the floor where I was standing combing debris out of my head. And the places stuff fell off my clothes. I need a shower now. I did work on my fingernails which were black despite the gloves I was wearing.

Christmas put-away will have to wait. My arms are tired and my shoulder is aching.

Tomorrow is my mammogram so we'll see what the afternoon brings.

LadyM, thanks for compliment. I think it sounds like you get lots more done than I do. Maybe I pay attention to paperwork because it's easier to sit at my desk than do all those steps you do. You are lucky to have spaces to put everything in easily-accessible spots. We have too much stuff (mostly tools) and some of the ladders were from DH's work years. Our metal shelves in the garage need a ladder to get up onto the tops where some bins are. Christmas is in a closet but up on the top shelf. Our ceilings are 10' and top shelves need ladders to access.

I keep asking DH to get rid of stuff so we can put things down more. Falls on deaf ears.

Dh reminded me early this afternoon that "It's Monday, cheeseburger day!" So we went for cheeseburgers. He admitted that they weren't great after we ate, even though we had been to the exact same place not long ago. Now he's watching TV and he will be there until at least 9 p.m. We stopped at a dollar store for AAA batteries for the TV remote on the way home and he stayed in the truck while I went in and got the batteries.

I thought he had 4 customers today, turns out only 2 showed up and he could fix the problem with the first one. Therefore one paying customer today.

Did I get the desk cleared off? No. I still have a few hours before bed.

Ladders. Dh is afraid of heights, so he doesn't like going up and down ladders. I don't mind going up or down ladders. A few years ago we bought a large, industrial type one that has 4 wheels on the base and rails going up both sides. We bought it at a garage sale from a neighbour.
