I also had to look up fan boy = a boy or man who is an extremely or overly enthusiastic fan of someone or something. Fan boy as an insult, is often an unfair and out-of-context accusation. More often than not, it is used in arguments between two or more people as a way to disregard a person's point of view.

The internet is full of terms & acronyms that I haven't seen used. I need to frequently search to find out what they mean.

DS14 is going to a birthday party today. Many of DS14 friends are older. This friend turns 18 years old today. He is a senior in high school. His parents go big on birthday celebration lasting several days. Today is a birthday party at their home. Tomorrow, they continue with the birthday celebration by going to the city to eat, play top golf and do an escape room.

Good morning. I thought I'd just sleep in as long as I wanted but had 2 telephone calls. Annoying because I can't read my phone without my glasses and of course I don't sleep with them on. By the time I get them on and get the phone, the call has ended. I'm not super fast when I'm half asleep. Anyway 1 call was our CPA with the good news about how much $ we lost in this dumb "business". Ok, I knew it would be bad. First thing he asked was "are you going to keep this corporation open next year?" sigh... sore spot around here to start that conversation again for umpteenth time. Nothing to celebrate here about that.

Anyway, I got myself going and rode down there to pick up my year-in-a-folder. I will work on filing this stuff away....I have to keep stuff accessible just for the insurance audit which comes in a month or two. Poor guy, lost his wife this past year. She was in a memory care unit and we always have a lot to talk about. His story is very sad.

Conversation after I got home was not happy, or calm, or ... anything. He always wants to know why I can't do these taxes myself. Corporate taxes are very involved and NO I can't do them. "Why does he charge so much, find someone cheaper". Not his problem, it's the system that requires all this stuff. He's cheaper than the firm DD works for. Anyway, after much debating, DH took off on his bike to go up to the used car lot people to talk to them about this last batch of work they have him involved in now.

It's no wonder my hair is falling out.

Going to do some things that make me feel whew that is done now. I need some successes around here. I did clean up the kitchen and am running the dishwasher. At least that is done.

Lucylee, I gave up on albums. They take up so much room. I've put all my pictures in photo storage boxes. I admit having them in albums is much easier and nicer to look through, but I've done what I can to limit the space they take up. I have one nice album of the large pictures I used to have in frames around here, and one last album. The rest are in a couple boxes. I don't miss the albums myself. Nobody will want to store 50 albums once we're gone. We don't know what to do with the albums that were DMiL's. Nobody in the family wanted them, DH brought them home and they sit in a BIG bin in his closet.

Ok, off I go to do something worth celebrating.

It is still -23*C here. That might have something to do with me not wanting to move from near the radiator.

Harmony, my dmom has a degree in accounting and came very close to passing the CPA exam, and she STILL used a CPA to do their taxes when ddad had the business(and still does, btw.)

Yeah… these albums ARE crazy — so far as taking up space.
I think ds will want them someday, he’s such a historian and genealogy enthusiast… but YES… 30+ albums take up a LOT of space!

I keep working but I feel like I am not seeing any progress! My brain is asking - why are things still chaotic.

((((Blessedw2)))) Give yourself lots of grace and acceptance that you are not in normal times. Your DH being in the hospital for a month definitely qualifies as crisis mode. Just do what you can and accept that is the best you can do for now. It's totally okay!

DH and I have a rare time of being home alone. DD11 is with DD46. DS14 is at a birthday party. Our home is super quiet and there is no one in the kitchen looking for food to eat.

My deep clean/declutter focus today is on the shelves above cabinets in the kitchen. I also deep cleaned the top of the refrigerator and the vent hood. There were only 3 items and I decluttered 2 of them. The one item that stays is the ceramic duck. When the kids frustrate me, or I get short tempered, or I'm clueless how to respond....then I hold my hand up and tell them to "Go talk to the duck". It might sound strange, but it pauses the interaction, makes us all laugh, and gives me time to get myself recentered before continuing the interaction with the kids.

Just got home from a nice trip with Sweetie. We went to the Edison and Ford Estate where they were holding an antique car shows with old Fords. The museum was very interesting and the gardens that surround the estate homes were beautiful. The homes are decorated and you could look through half opened doors to see how they were set up.

After that we stopped at Steak and Shake for lunch. I love eating there because I can order my hamburger without a bun. We also stopped at Lowes on the way home so I could pick up some more potting soil.

Our day is very windy here with gusts up to 30+ miles an hour. Too windy to do any planting so I will wait till after I get back from the dog shelter in the morning. I have my laundry going so that should keep me busy for a while.

I use photo boxes for my pictures as well. Much easier and takes up less space. I put pictures according to the category and dividers for each year. I have a photo album with tin types that date back to the 1860’s and the only person who looks at it is me. I have a few photos of my my great grandparent, grand parents and my parents through out their years. All fit in on photo box and I’m sure my son will ditch them when they become his.

LadyM … I have to laugh at the duck. When I taught I had this picture of a bulldogs face on a poster and was hung sort of in a corner of the room. Sometimes when a kid would get frustrated I would tell him to “go pet the puppy”. The kids really loved that and at times when I was getting tired, frustrated or grumpy, my kids would say…Ms F. Go pet the puppy!

Over the years I acquired several stuffed puppies from many of my kids and they were one of the hardest thing to decluttter. And in all honesty I still have my favorite one

Has anyone here had experience with weighted blankets? I'm thinking of buying one for dh. He moves constantly in his sleep and of course that also disrupts my sleep. Can't begin to tell you how bad our bed is every morning. He spent several years after his shoulder surgery sleeping in the recliner. Only this past year and now is he trying to sleep in our bed. Have to admit I was spoiled. Pull my covers back and the bed was made. Now????? Not so much. I have finally taken to sleeping on top of the covers with blankets over me so I can get back into bed after a night's sojourn. Before he'd be lying on top of the covers or something or they'd be wrapped around him. I'm thinking if I try one from A river for a day or so and it doesn't work out I could return it.

Has anyone here had experience with weighted blankets?

Yes, DS14 used one for a couple of years to help with anxiety. When they work they are wonderful. DS14 blanket weighed 20lbs. That could be a lot of extra weight when having any mobility issues.

DH and I went out for an ice cream treat tonight.

I created a google calendar for decluttering missions. They are yearly repeating events.

I found the place to sign up for ozempic saving card. It reduces that prescription cost to only $25 a month.

I am watching New Amsterdam on Netflix. It is keeping my attention.
