Tidy-up Tuesday

Talk about distraction! Reading about LadyM's son and RRose's son once-upon-a-time driving made me think of my friend's daughter. She is in a play at school about women pilots, so she and her friend have gotten it in their heads to drive to see the aircraft museum at Wright-Patterson AFB, over 3 hours away. (There is a museum specifically about women in aviation at the lakefront airport downtown, but apparently that will not suffice.) My friend's not sure she's comfortable with it; her husband is unsure enough that he's considering taking the day off work to drive them. Anyhow, thinking of that made me wonder just where the Cleveland Air Races were run back in the day, so I looked up a map, which had a town name on it that I didn't recognize (it has since been absorbed by another town). I looked up another map, which had more counties on it, which led me to remember DyoungestBIL's wedding, which was at a camp at the intersection of three counties, so before they could get permission to have an outdoor wedding, they had to figure out just what diocese the camp was in. So I looked up a diocesan map. Then I remembered that the founding priest of the church they attended down there was later the founding bishop of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, but I couldn't remember his name (Jean-Baptiste Lamy), so I had to look up the diocese of Santa Fe, which finally ended up being the end of that rabbit hole.

This evening, DC and I are going to a workshop at church presented by Braver Angels, which is an organization that is trying to restore civility by getting people on both sides of the aisle talking together. It sounds like it might be a little scary from the viewpoint of the vulnerability of putting yourself out there, but I can agree with the purpose, so I'll cross my fingers and dive in, I guess.

I really need to make a grocery list; dinner tonight is French bread pizzas. Our other choices were tuna noodle or soup with rolls/biscuits. We are scraping the bottom of the grocery barrel here. I have the dinner menus chosen and the master grocery list printed out, so I will see how far I can get in the next 10 minutes or so before dinner is ready.

I understand completely! I have lots of rabbit hole experience - they branch off...twist and turn...

My computer is sick. It's the new one and I've probably done it by trying to get OneNote off my computer (while it's holding my desktop hostage) and trying to get Dropbox to stop syncing constantly because it and OneNote are echoing each other. Holding with Best Buy help.

I think I'm going to get the old laptop out and use while I wait for help. I told them I turn into a pumpkin at 9 p.m. sharp.

I had a fabulous afternoon nap because I finally picked my duvet up from the cleaners. I was wrapped in soft, fluffy warmth and I couldn't fight it when my eyes closed. For 3 hours.

All the recycling, trash and general cleaning is done. Caught a break between rains and got everything into cans.

Stools - Nancy, I think my ds let my dmother's very practical, (and antique by now) simple bar stool go, likely long since thrown away or snapped up by someone smarter than he. It's not that I can't find unfinished stools, but that one was burnished by decades of use and downright comfortable. We do have a stool, but not so inviting. Anyway, I hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of the work you're putting into those.

Oh, dear... .. Twins' may turn into a pumpkin! Those folks better hurry up. She may be a frowning Jack-o-Lantern.

Hats - Twins', I don' like it, but I have to report throwing away an old ballcap of HRH's today. It was one he liked a lot, but it had been sweated on to the point that washing was just not enough. It was kinda grungy in a too-organic sort of way.

I think computer is back. Proof when be when I reinstall Dropbox. I can access it Dropbox online for now.

Tomorrow I only have PT. My wrist/forearm was sore last night and this a.m. I let trainer today know but by the time she had me stretch and do some other things I felt good enough to do some wrist curls. She had me doing arm work with little weights while on the stationary bike while holding my core tight. And I can't walk and chew gum at the same time.

Stick a fork in me. I'm done.

LOL on the baseball caps, Harriet. RIP. I bet dh has close to forty in different stages of decay. Some have been the beach and thus, sweat upon and drenched in salt water. I just try to keep them rotated. I often wear one, even with sunglasses when walking the ddog.

I think it was relaxing to paint the stools and I am keeping them for looks and they are great supports for a work table with a half sheet long ways of plywood! Like if you need it for a yard sale or sorting space. Great weather with a bit of a breeze for painting. These are not comfortable!
Update on my chair it fits me well and I am luving it so far yea!

Contractors are scheduled to come tomorrow after lunch to continue the bathtub/shower replacement project.
Once again, I have a doctor's appointment at the same time the contractors will be working here. Hopefully nothing will go wrong this time while I am gone. I didn't want to postpone the contractors so I just took a leap of faith and said yes.
Tomorrow seemed like the best of choices available this week. Thursday DH has doctor appointment, and he can't go by himself. Friday is my first of two periodontal surgeries.

Well, it's late, but it is still Tuesday as I type this, (as I begin to type, anyway) so I wanted to catch up with all of you.
I have had a Day. Whew!

Of course, I had to get up earlier than my usual. Called doctor's office for refills. s2s, etc...
Started to my teacher group; dmom called. Could I take her to the doctor at 2:45 -- her key fob was dead and other one was lost and she couldn't start her car without them... she thinks the boy who loaded her groceries for it may have absentmindedly put it in his pocket...

Went to teacher group, thoroughly enjoyed it although it was kinda disappointing. The president of our group had invited her daughter (also a retired teacher) to be our program for the day, and NO ONE SHOWED UP except the president, me, and the daughter!!! We lured a church staffer in to sit with us and watch her presentation also. (The vice-president's dh passed away yesterday, and we think some of the ladies may have heard the news and assumed we were not meeting.) Maybe I should have sent an email, but they kept giving me updates over the weekend, and I had already sent FIVE updates , "re:..." and I just refused to send another, figured they were all DISregarding their messages by that point.

After the meeting I went to the post office and to dmom's.
Called the grocery store for dmom, no, no key fob had been turned in. No, the boy couldn't have kept it -- dmom would have gotten an alert when she got a certain distance away from it. Sigh. I think the grocery store manager thought we were crazy.
Started looking for it again in dmom's purse, etc... and in the RAINCOAT she had been wearing when she bought groceries. AH-HAH! There it is. Dmom swears she had looked there, but... whatever.
Dmom again stressed out about her two houses, the rental and the one she lives in. She is too old and too sick (she says) to deal with this... she is going to sign over rental to me and her house to dbro and check herself into the assisted living as soon as they will take her (she says). I told her she would feel better after she got some meds and got over this illness. (She has self-diagnosed as either pneumonia or pleurisy.)
Take dmom to doctor. He agrees with diagnosis but insists on chest x-ray. Gives her a shot, z-pack, and prednisone.
Take dmom to hospital for x-ray...
And of course, dmom tells the tale of her horrible morning to everyone. To be fair, I probably aggravate ds with too much talking also.
Go to Aut*Zon* for batteries for key fobs. They do not have them, truck just ran, they will have them tomorrow. Or O-Reill*'s might have them.
Go to O-Reill*'s. Get batteries.
Go to drug store (I had two refills also). When she gets the prednisone at the drug store, she says she cannot take that and she should have told him when he said steroid that she could not stand to take that, it hypes her up too much. She will take the z-pack and use her nebulizer as he recommended.
Sigh.
Go to hamburger place, get her lunch/supper? -- grilled chicken salad --
Take her home.

I came home and collapsed on the couch and slept.
Finally ended up eating supper -- chicken noodle soup -- and talked to ds for awhile.
Listed tickets online and * HOORAY * have already sold the most expensive three... still waiting to see if the end zone seats sell or if I have to lower the price.
DS and family cannot go to the game this weekend because the funeral I mentioned in J&C will be Saturday.

I have not tidied up anything.

I do not have Grief group tomorrow -- leader has to be absent -- and I am glad. I will go visit dfriend from teacher group and take some paper goods. Those things were VERY useful around here when dh passed away.

Let's hope tomorrow is better.

(((TWINS))) -- I hope you get your computer fixed soon. That is one of my biggest aggravations.
LadyM, I sure do understand your fear re: ds driving longer distances. I remember when ds first started driving. It was hard to keep from looking out the windows for his return. Finally, I stopped somehow and just began to have faith that he would return safe and sound.
