Thank you, all! Yes, it is my birthday! We have a quiet day - going to friends in the evening. Dh is at work. I'd like to perhaps stamp a bit...

We're going to have a very social week. We see people tonight and tomorrow night, then Friday is temple with dh cooking latkes (I may beg off) then Saturday p.m. at temple again and dinner afterward with A and V for dh's birthday. He bowls on Sunday night but we're out with ds on Monday night for dh's birthday. I had tried to set something up with A and V on Monday night but they had plans already. No plans for New Years Eve. I'm going to be tired of people by then!

I need to get into clothes and walk the impatient dog...she's complaining.

I used to make a mint chip ice cream dessert for my d father in law: Oreo crust, mint chip in middle and a chocolate sauce from d mom in laws mom - it was a big hit but I did find it too rich for my taste. I think the recipe was called funday Sunday

dogs - geesh dogs. dd older put laundry on a chair - all three dogs came running through the kitchen and family room and up, in the air, went the laundry scared two of the dogs there was a lot of crashing and banging.

9:47 am. dd older is getting mom. She will be here until we leave for the party and we will get her home!

I put a frank response but of a win in J & C.
I am up on time five ish.
Had bfast did some journaling and planning.
We are supposed to get rain.
I need to consider my red coat and fuzzy Santa hat!
Just for fun.

I am enjoying the neighbors lites on their covered patio roof in the back of thier home.
I cannot do that b/c I chose not to have a covered patio b/c it limited the amount of lite coming in on the North
side of the house.

I need to remember to put on my new red & black plaid pj's tonite.
Before I fill my stocking.
LH fam. always did Cmas Eve gift opening,
we did Cmas morning.

Dh brought in a load of fire wood. I have already turned on the outside lights.

For brunch I had a cup of egg nog and some keilbasa type of thing. Seriously considering some cheese and crackers and some of those tiny pickled onions and some gherkin pickles. ALL of these things are throwbacks to Christmas treats when dh and I were teenagers. Dh also recalls cheese spread in a tube. Sorry honey, they don't have that any more.

Two neighbours brought us gifts this morning. Closest neighbour brought a floral arrangement from a very popular floral place nearby. Another neighbour has a wife that bakes things for yet another very popular "farm stand" type place that is open year round that sells farm fresh eggs and baked goods. They gave us a box of her mixed Christmas selection. They are so good. Thankfully they are still frozen or I would have had cookies for brunch!!

I have tidied the left half of my desk.

Hi Cathy -- hope your hips are feeling better. What is it with dh's & portable fire? Mine headed out the door last week on a very windy day to blast the flagpole base with flames. He wanted to bring the flag in & the pole was frozen in the holder. So glad I caught him & was able to point out how dangerous that would be with the flag whipping around near the flames. Better to have a wind damaged flag than to accidentally set a fire with 20 plus mph winds blowing!

Hi Nancy -- red & black plaid pj's sound fun & festive

I'm relaxing today. It feels well deserved after running around so much this month. I enjoyed watching the birds feeding this AM with purring dcat, my arms resting on the windowsill & dcat laying in my arms & relaxed against my chest. I still have pies to make today; pumpkin for dh & I'm trying a new recipe for mini crustless pecan pies for me. We are having an Herbed Pork Tenderloin for dinner tomorrow & thankfully I remembered to put it in the fridge to thaw. I hope to finish a Christmas themed jigsaw puzzle this afternoon & then clear it away so I can enter appts & misc dates on new 2025 calendar.

Taking a quick break… house is clean and so am I. Getting the ham ready to put in the slower cooker. Need to cut up my green beans and make my mom’s sweet potato casserole.

Twins - Happy Birthday!!

I am grateful for the local BBQ place taking care of the big pieces of Christmas food prep. I'm not sure what kind of wood DFriend uses to cook the meat, but it is perfect (IMHO). I just finished putting 8 kinds of meats into serving dishes.

He also made us a gallon of pinto beans that were slowly cooked over wood. I try not to groan with pleasure each time I take a bite of them. My food prep is done. I plan to take 48 hours off from being in the kitchen cooking.

I haven't unloaded the suv from yesterday Christmas gift shopping. It was after dark when we arrived home and I was DONE..... so I just left everything in the vehicle away from eyes of curious teens. Unloading and sorting gifts will be my next focus. Followed by putting gifts into bags.

mom was cranky until I asked her why she was so crabby - "I am not crabby!!!" and finally I had to say there was a lot grumbles this morning with a kind smile - she changed her tone.

dd older knows mom well and asked her "is the only reason you don't walk anywhere is bc my mom asked you" (the last 2 days) (ie to put her dishes in the dw) She nodded quickly and said "yes" with a smile to dd - I saw it! What a stinker!!!! She must have been a little stinker to her siblings - she does this to dd younger who had helped her for a few years. Knowing her vanity - I said you don't want me getting my wheel chair out - she very stubbornly said yes that would be fine - that I could push her everywhere. (lol I know her stubborn streak - if I was mean and brought the wheel chair inside she would tell me I was nuts. We all agreed that she must have been something as a younger sibling.
