Anyway, I slept through most of the first half and I was so shocked when I woke up and saw the score! They just poured the Gatorade on the coach. I would HATE that if I were a coach. DS and I were talking about how that has replaced carrying coaches off the field on their shoulders. That seems a much more "respectful" behavior.
I went to church this morning, left DGS sleeping very soundly in the recliner. (His choice, he watched TV with me for awhile and then announced he was going to the recliner.) When I got home at 11:30, he was still sleeping and ddil wanted to take him to the football banquet, so she came over around 12:30 and made him take a shower and get dressed. (He needed the shower anyway, probably had not had one since -- who knows? Since he hadn't been to school since Monday?) They left the house for the 1:30 banquet just down the road from us, but ddil called me in a few minutes and said they weren't going, that DGS had started crying on the way, tears rolling down his cheeks. He felt that bad. She went to CVS and got a flu test, and he tested negative for that, but she's going to make him an appt with the doctor tomorrow. This has gone on long enough.
I did text him while I was posting this, and he said he was feeling better than he did when he left here.
I SOLD THE TRUCK!!!!
My Dcousin came up today and got it. I took $3500 -- less than I wanted for it, by about $500 -- but Dcousin will put a LOT of money in it to get it looking like he wants it. He said it will cost over $4000 to have it painted. (DS heard that and said, "Boy, did I get into the wrong line of work.") Dcousin didn't even want to drive it before he paid me -- he said, "You said you drove it just this week, didn't you?" And I did, and it ran fine, so he took my word for it. I guess he knows if it's running, he can fix whatever it needs and he's happy. Like I told y'all, he told dh years ago that he wanted it if dh ever sold it. I'm kinda looking forward to seeing what he does with it.
DDIL said now they can pull into the carport when it's raining. I told her I may put some of my patio furniture there too. Thinking about that kinda makes me look forward to sitting out in the shade when the weather warms up. Of course, I have a very shaded front porch on the north side of the house, but it faces the road, so the backyard has more privacy.
I still think light snow flurries sound nice, Nancy, but we are looking for rain every day this week -- checking my app now, it says 90% on Tuesday (when I have to take dmom to the foot doctor) and 100% on Wednesday (when dmom and I need to go to a graveside funeral service.) High temps for those two days are 60 and 62. The low is predicted to be below freezing on Thursday, but only 10% rain then & Friday, so snow is not likely here for a while.
We're not in the clear yet, though! We've had enough snow to close schools in March in years past, so you never know.
Having trouble with Cathy's post -- "It's 'only' -2" -- shivers!
I have eaten cold ham for lunch and supper, along with a bunch of junk food. I sorta enjoyed not having to feed anyone else.
MY GOODNESS -- if I had to feed two hungry teens every day of the week... I'd lose my mind, LadyM. I could never do as well as you do at keeping good food ready to eat! Wow... I wish I had you here stocking my refrigerator!
(((blessed))) I think I can understand what you're saying about your dmom and her circles... dh had an aunt who was like that. When we would visit, she would have two or three topics that she would keep coming back to, almost word for word, and it would not matter what we said about anything else, she would come back to her "loop." Good for you for making the best of the day. That Ken Burns documentary is so good!
Good for you, too, Twins, and I hope you get the laptop repaired quickly!
And WOW -- Harriet -- it is so nice to hear you had enough energy to mop and get some other things done. I will be praying for the upcoming week to go well. (((BIG HUGS)))
LOL -- I'm afraid I follow HRH's theory on dishes. BUT -- I did wash dishes today and put things in the dishwasher that could go there. They are draining on a towel beside the sink now.
Glad to hear you had a better day too, Rose.
Well, tax prep is still in the floor of the den, right here in front of me, but I'm at the point I need to go through the checkbook and add up doctor's visits, etc... and I am procrastinating on that.
I would like to have it done by Tuesday though, and then I could drop it off with the accountant when I take dmom to the doctor. I have to remember to ask DS how we do the rental house we sorta "share." It's in my name, but DS pays the upkeep. He was willing to pay for the new roof, when dh was not, and DS did not want us to sell it. DS pays me the property tax bill also, and I just give DS the rent money each month. When we deeded dinlaws' house to DS, we decided that was way too much trouble -- had to meet with dbil each year to change the deed five times, giving them the maximum each year. No money changed hands, but each year the deed changed -- they owned 1/5, us 4/5... 2/5-- 3/5, etc. AND we had to pay dbil every time, of course. I know this sort of talk probably makes Twins very nervous... but it's working for us.
Well, Eagles win. Guess I should sign off.
One bad part of the day... saw a 'reel' on FB that showed "the five stages of hoarding." Pretty sure two people VERY close to me are in stage one or two... praying they don't advance further... gosh... but it's like alcoholics, isn't it? You can't help people who don't help themselves? They do have a friend who comes over every few weeks to help them at least get the bathrooms, den, and kitchen in acceptable condition. Shaking my head.
Y'all have a good night and a good day tomorrow!
