LOL, on the dd's room, LadyM. What a perfect opening!

I've stamped a bit, will head back downstairs in a minute. Since I made the appointment to take this computer in I haven't seen the pinkish scren again. I wonder if I should take it? It's so annoying when it happens, but it's not all that often.

Hi, everyone. Enjoying your posts.

Learning about orders and phyla and DNA and more - good job on keeping a finger on the pulse of knowledge, one way or another.

Timer battles, revolution against procrastination, spreadsheets and planning and SEED STARTING.

blessed, I hope you have things to tell about the little seedlings in our year's thread - encouraging. I always try to get salmon or coral-colored flowers into my plantings. They look good with most brick but also let bolder colors pop around them.

Safety out there - I hope all villagers and those driving with them make it through these last blasts of winter depths safely and securely.

Even though short, our trip out was still stressful, of course. But they've got three vials of blood to keep them happy a while. This time I asked the nurse to walk me back to the waiting room, so that was not such a mess as last time at that place. Last time I was so sick and went the wrong way and it was a hassle. Blood pressure was okay today, just a little low for me.

On the way back, HRH stopped into a nicer Thai restaurant. He ordered me their large house salad with ginger dressing and fried tofu. I was surprisingly hungry when we got back, but then had to nap.

He has been doing his laundry.

My DMC thread arrived with some other items from WMart. I had ordered a 3-pack, which they said was in stock, yet they brought 2 singles. I am so tired of being at the mercy of shoppers who don't know what they are buying or how it is sold. But I also don't know when I could make a trip like that - walking through the giant WMart on concrete floors.

This is the PERFECT topic for today, Twins! Thank you, and LadyM, who added the Mission Statement idea, because this ALL goes along amazingly with my devotional reading today.
My mindset is also amazingly good today. The reason I am just getting here is not because I have been napping on the couch feeling sorry for myself -- I have been extremely productive today. This happens so rarely that I don't mind bragging a little bit.
Also contributing to my mindset is that I am surprisingly content with the sale of the truck. I had some moments when I was discussing it -- back last fall -- but now that it's gone, I'm just kind of relieved, and I know dh would be satisfied with the price I got for it. He was NOT a salesman At All -- one reason he did not take over his parents' furniture store. He always wanted to set ticket prices lower than I did on the re-sell sites. And I know Dcousin will have the truck looking as good as new before long, so it's in good hands. I was able to throw away my 3x5 that said "drive truck." :D

Good to see blessed... Ditto -- visiting here is good for my soul! :D
RE: weddings -- I had a link to watch the wedding I had told y'all about and I forgot what time it started! It says live or on demand, but I can't get it to play now! I noticed children of the family (nieces/etc) WERE in some of the pictures, but I bet they had a babysitter hired for them afterwards. Cause, remember, the invitations said NO ONE UNDER 21.

and Cathy... * yes, 30 sounds better than -2, but still cold. OTOH, DS pointed out to me that our low temp for the weekend is 18. My app says 23. That's Sunday night. It's supposed to be 50 out there right now, but brrr... it felt colder to me while I was running errands. It's very cloudy and feels damp, even though it hasn't rained today. And 0h my goodness there goes Nancy with SIX degrees!!! Brrrr... Twins', looking for 6" snow this weekend... boy, that groundhog must have known what he was talking about!

LOL about your island, Cathy! DS and DDIL have a bar that serves that purpose -- "We could put stuff on it!" :roll: It is table-top height, backs up to the stove/countertops, and it's very nice when there are more people than the kitchen table seats. There's room for 4 people to sit at the bar, and usually the women sit there and the men take the kitchen at holidays, but we can all see and hear each other and so no one is isolated. BUT -- DS and ddil have an unreal amount of counter space, and within a week after the housekeeper coming, every inch is covered again.
There is also a formal dining room, with a table and chairs and china cabinet, which is supposed to go to dniece if she ever has a home of her own -- but DS/ddil never use it because it is the "playroom," which usually does look like It would qualify for an episode of Hoarders. Sigh. I know it shouldn't bother me like it does and I am much better at keeping my mouth closed, but it does make me crazy.

Harriet, I'm glad you're home and I hope all goes well for the rest of the day, and I am interested in the garden thread. I really would like to plant something around my patio... and I need to do some serious pruning with my little chainsaw. There is a small tree that makes access to my water meter very difficult. I think I could clear it out pretty quickly with the chainsaw, and I need to do that. I have a variety of flower seeds I might try to plant. How long can plant seeds last in paper envelopes? I received these in the mail from some charity. I've had them a LONG time.

Nancy, I agree, a microwave is necessary. I use mine a lot. I also use the regular oven, but I'd be lost without my microwave. I wonder how long it will last for me. They are made together, built in, and when one goes out, I'll have to replace them both.

Twins', good for you finishing the report! I have a distant cousin (I think her mom and my maternal grandmother were first cousins) who has invited me to join, but I just don't want to add another obligation to my calendar right now. We have the same ancestor (great x ? grandfather) who fought in the Revolutionary War and she has all the documentation.
I guess Taylor Swift thought the Eagles fans were obnoxious, LOL... and did y'all see where they had a lot of chaos in Philadelphia -- I saw someone literally tearing down a light pole with a traffic light on it. WHY do fans want to destroy their own city when they win something? I guess tearing down your own goalpost after a football game is a similar act of vandalism, but usually that is all football fans do -- they don't go through the whole campus tearing things down.

Mystery -- that is so neat -- that the player has changed teams and managed to be on the winning side for the last three years!

I'm going to make another post with my ta-das. :D
Tomorrow is another day.

My Mic. oven was 4.5 yrs. old. I wish it would have made it to 5 bc of winter temps.
watched to the end of a series I've been watching not enjoying as much as the first season.

The sky is lovely today with clouds and shades of blue.

Got the laundry done and my steps in so that's good.
Clean sheets on the bed.
I like the room I have with out the mic. at the moment.
Had my chili early b/c of a low & some other carbs.

Glad for my progress today that helped.

Today's PODA -- I did sleep late, but when my alarm went off, I allowed myself one "snooze" button to check email and quickly see what y'all were up to, but not post, because I'm too long-winded. :oops:
Then, I began trying to get through my morning routine -- and get through some of the to-dos --
* floor stretching exercise and 15 min walk away the pounds
* called the monument place, dh's stone has not arrived yet, and no I do not have to send money until it is delivered to the cemetery
(I've paid about half, and I owe a little over $1000.)
* s2s, including washing hair and shaving legs, facial mask, and removed old nail polish
* talked to DS, DGS back to school today (also talked to DGS after school, he sounds good -- must have been a bad virus.)
* load of laundry in washer
* stripped the bed, put clean sheets on
* Bible/devotional reading
* kids clothes in dryer, sheets in washer
* errands --
-- insurance office, cancelled truck policy (they said $ would be credited to my account for next premium)
-- post office
-- bank, deposited truck money
-- drug store
-- Wmart
-- service station to get pizza for supper
* put away groceries
* flipped laundry
* ate supper

And here I am now, my first time on the computer since checking email this morning.

Twins' -- others -- does anyone have any experience with something like this?
Talk with DS and bank was troublesome.
Dinlaws gave DS savings bonds every year till he started college, and I am pretty sure we spent all the principal value of ds' savings bonds while he was in college... using our own money because with the bonds only 18 years old, they had not matured and dh didn't want to cash them in early. DH has kept records of all ds' college expenses, and later expenses, when he needed to borrow money from us for a major purpose -- heat unit needed to be replaced, etc. DH would take it out of the interest we owed DS. I should be able to decipher dh's records, although his handwriting is small and difficult to read. But he kept meticulous records, and he never told me that by ____ date, DS would be ahead and could receive the remaining bonds totally.
DH did not want to cheat DS out of anything his grandparents gave him, but likewise, dh wanted to recoup our own expenses, since the money WAS intended for college expenses.
Sooo... since DS graduated college, as the bonds matured, we have cashed them in and written DS a check for the interest. They have "DS OR DH" names on them.
This worked fine until dh passed away.
This year, DS had to sign for the bond for the first time.
Sooo... DS gets a statement from the bank for the income of the bond, and he is a little ill that he is adding over $3000 to his income, when he has only seen $2000 interest, and that spread over the past 18 years. But I don't see any way around this... without me giving up the entire bond money to him, which means he will get double the amount of the remaining 12 or so bonds as they come due over the next six years. I don't want DS to feel bad about this, but I can definitely use the income as well. And ddil is making a very good salary now, so it's not like they desperately need it -- although DS does NOT want to be in a higher tax bracket.
He normally gets a refund, especially because he has two children as dependents. I, OTOH, generally have to pay taxes, and probably will have to pay more next year. Sigh.
I wonder if I could set up an estate account for dh and DS could transfer the $ to that... dbil just told me the other day that he had everything ready to close out dh's estate -- but when I asked how soon I had to do this, he said, "Well, you have to do it within 20 years. But I figured you'd want to get through with your taxes this year, in case anything else was coming due. Of course, would there be limits on what I used an estate account for?
My accountant may fire me, Twins. This is a mess, isn't it? :oops: :roll: :(

Dmom of course, would be a great resource for me, and she just called on the phone. She worked in banking for probably 15-20 years, finishing her career there as a compliance officer, completed her accounting degree, and worked as accountant the next 15-20 years. But I couldn't ask her any questions just now -- after repeated bladder surgeries, when she has to go, she has to GO... and she didn't want to talk long, LOL. She just called to tell me to reschedule her foot doctor -- the doctor had to leave, sick himself, today and they want her to come Wednesday. She and I need to go to a funeral for her first cousin on Wednesday. So I am "free" tomorrow and will get that taken care of.
Tomorrow is another day.

OH -- I forgot to post about the mindset and mission statement.
My devotional reading today was about "Living with Purpose." It made a point that we all need a purpose beyond our own physical needs, and "what is your purpose, whom can you serve or help?"

I have a problem right now, in really being able to see my purpose, beyond helping my family -- dmom, DS/ddil/dgrands, my aunt and cousins when I am called on, and helping with whatever church needs I can meet.
I can't really see the future right now, beyond being here for my dgrands' milestones. I don't want to "find love again." I can't really imagine ever being comfortable enough with ANYONE to start over. I do feel like I probably have at least 15-20 years ahead of me, and that seems a long time to be on my own, which is depressing in some ways, but it is also very frightening and strange to think about ever letting anyone else into my life again.

BUT -- inspired by LadyM, I thought about my mission statement -- my purpose for living.

My purpose is
to serve God and grow in my faith through Bible study, church activities, and other inspirational reading
to learn to trust Him with all my concerns
to help those He puts in my path
to live confidently and faithfully, and set a good example and encourage others, so that others might see Christ in me
to use my time wisely, develop my talents, and live a life I can be proud of

I know I'm failing at this a LOT of the time; you ladies know better than anyone, but this is the person I would like to be.

LucyLee - I like your purpose statement.

This week is parent/teacher conference week. I detest being made to use an app (ClassDoJo). The app then tries to sell me premium subscription and sends messages from the company that have nothing to do with our school.
If I was Queen for the Day.....I would eliminate ClassDoJo usage in our school.
Second thought.....nah. There are plenty of more important issues to focus on if I was Queen for the Day.

The good news is that the messages received from teachers say DD13 is doing well in school.
Stay curious. Challenge assumptions. Success loves persistence.

LucyL. ask bank about that acct. try Google.
I got the dishes done and the leftovers in the fridge.
Did my progress journal.
The mission statement for me is pretty much just me getting things done that I need to do around here.
Home garden rigs, make a bit more progress with notes to right.
I have done some reading this year glad for that progress.
Thinking about spring and that helps me to know it is good for self care too.

I found a teal colored microwave on Amz. not sure about ordering from them.
I have food ahead for the week or so during this cold tem's.

I have not done any yarn crafting yes today.
Oh yes one other thing I am in a better frame of mind this evening,
