Re: Simplify your Life Monday PWYC
(((Cathy)))) I hope you feel better soon. I have missed you the last couple of days.
Harriet - I understand both of the sides of the safety handle at door. It hits close to home here. I begged my DMom to let us put a safety handle at her back door where she entered/exited her house 99.9% of the time. We watched her unsteadily go up/down those steps. However, her perspective was it was only 2 small steps that she successfully went up/down ten thousand times over the decades of living there. She got angry at me for the mere suggestion that she might need a safety handle. She declared there was no need and absolutely forbade us to do it. Less than a month later DMom fell coming down those steps and broke her hip. Falling down those steps totally changed her life because she lost her mobility and independence. Would she have still fallen and broken her hip if she had let us install a safety handle for her to use going up/down those steps? We will never know.
DH got over his stomach issues fairly quickly. He was back to normal after a few hours. Today he is a ball of energy and has clear thinking. He is finding things to do to keep himself busy. He has been to the shop and found the JOY (sarcasm) of having teenagers using the tools. He just left to pay the water bill and drop by the church to do an errand.
Next up
** Inside - Homeschool with DS16
** Outside - Asparagus bed. Check if the first 2025 asparagus spear has come up. Continue with removing old stalks.
** Me - 250+ steps. Update spreadsheets

Re: Simplify your Life Monday PWYC
I haven't CUOPed. I have done those three things (30 min phone call with M, but we caught up), and I've made and eaten my breakfast/brunch while talking. I went out and played with ddog too. She wants me to throw a toy for her to catch and chase and run with for about 4 minutes, then she just wants to sit on the pedestals around the firepit and let me love on her. I also tried to document a little more information for Richard White's group of family, friends, acquaintances and neighbors. I found yesterday that one of those people sold inherited land to Richard's grandson in 1808 and it bordered on Richard's son's land. This same person is mention in family letters as someone who sometimes took mail for the family from TN to VA and vice-versa. Was probably traveling to settle his father's estate?
Roomba is still running. When I was on the phone it wanted to be in the kitchen, where I was. When I made the bed, it was vacuuming under the bed.
This day is getting away from me. I need to get ready for workout next. Also, finish kitchen clean up now that I've eaten.

Went to the post office, bank, grocery store, and ate lunch.
Workers went to lunch and they are back now.
Ring doorbells arrived; DS should be able to put them upl
I am sooo sleepy...

Homeschool with DS16 is done for the day and the other things listed have been done also.
DH and I went to grocery store in the next town for a dozen or so pantry/freezer items that I can't get in Sams. Once we arrived back home, we teamed up to slice the ham butt and package it in meal size portions.
I am taking a break with my feet up before deciding what I will do next.

I have fetched the mail & processed it.
Walked ddoggo.
Had a bite to eat earlier.
I have rails on all my steps here, I asked dson to do some on the old deck that never happened.
ddoggo is resting.
I am good for steps and should be easily get to my goal the rest of the day now.
I knit up a few rows.
Got my steps in for today yea!
Got the trash dumped.

Re: Simplify your Life Monday PWYC
We did get out on errands and even picked up some takeout.
Tax lady wanted to chat. I wasn't even going to go to her door with HRH, because she'd said she had so many appts today, and, frankly, she lives in what is called a "Charleston Style" home, high off the ground with quite a tall staircase of brick to the front door. But she came out to the car and stayed chatting a long time.
At bank all car lanes were closed without explanation. HRH went inside and it took a long time. For some reason they were short-staffed.
Beautiful day, so the drive was pleasant. Good to get several things done in advance before we get so busy.
Fielded a call from another dcousin. She must have a shoulder replacement surgery soon. My goodness.

Re: Simplify your Life Monday PWYC
I no longer have holes in my ceiling! It is not finished -- just raw sheetrock right now, plastic all over the floor, but the holes are closed!
Carpenters will be back tomorrow to do the "mud" -- painting and making it match the rest of the ceiling.
Then they are going to try to fix the shower floor and the leak around that shower. Maybe put in access to cut-off valves behind the shower, AND MAYBE put an outside cut off for entire house water. That was a problem years ago. Outside valve broke, plumber put one under the floor.
Like either dh or I would crawl under there and cut off water supply??? DH was already past the point of being able to crawl under the floor.
I told him I might need an estimate before he got started on the shower, but he said he didn't expect it to be too expensive. He charges by the hour, $25 an hour, plus materials, but it's not taking a lot of materials.
(I hope he doesn't bill me for conversation. He's a talker... and y'all know how I am... shaking my head.)
If I could move this darn Christmas tree, there are two more spots that need work in the den. One is at a "bend" in the roof where the porch meets the house, and one is beside the fireplace where flashing failed. This backs up to dh's closet, and there has been a big leak in there, but I think roofer did get that stopped.
I need to start some laundry and try to establish some "routine" to the day. But I may fall asleep on my feet.

Re: Simplify your Life Monday PWYC
As always I had a great workout and it improved my attitude. Trainer gal did a great job on engaging me and it was a good workout - and different. I love it when they have different exercises each workout. I think I didn't do any machines, only weights, body weight or resistance bands. I came home in a roundabout way so I could run three errands along the way - so those things were done. One was washing the car, which I've put off because I hadn't wanted to take the time to do the inside clean up, so I just ran it through and called it done for today. Walked the dog two laps when i got home - partly with M and her dh and R uby, so I'm up to 9500 steps today.
{Now why can't I use that now to turn off that to do list in my head?)
Lucylee, so glad the holes in the roof are repaired! One worry taken care of! BTW, the time changes next week so you'll want to sleep even later into the daytime, I'm almost afraid you'll be entirely nocturnal!
Good for you on the steps, Nancy, and the proactive rail.
LadyM, Harriet and Nancy, the rail discussion reminds me that perhaps we should have rails in front at some point. OTOH, it's two very small steps into the house from the garage. When our wheelchair friend is here, he has someone help him do a wheelie - front wheels up, and he can get up from there. On the front there are maybe three steps going to the front sidewalk, and there are two shallow steps porch to driveway. Porch to driveway is next to one of the porch columns, so perhaps just a handle on the column would work. OTOH, there's garage entry and our back is entirely walkout.
LadyM, I thought asparagus were up really early?
I'm missing Cathy's report this afternoon. Hope nothing serious.
Harriet, last spring was a great example of not having to do everything. I was busy in March planning and packing and getting wound up about the trip. I put off getting out spring things thinking I would do it all as soon as I got home. Of course, I came home in a cast, followed by another cast, and finally got it all off by the first of June or wo, when we went to the beach. I think my head was about to come off because it was spinning so hard. So, no spring decorations or changes on the porch or house, and then no zinnias or tomatoes planted until well into June. I was probably frustrated, but I don’t remember that so much, just that I got through and got back onto firmer footing. One of the things dd26 and I talked about yesterday was that we don't have to do everything.
