Thumbs UP for Thursday PWyc

Post by Twins' Mom »

What are the thumbs up in your household today?

I recall that Harriet is on the move today with additional testing; she and HRH will be thumbs up to have the day finished.

What are the positive thoughts and thumbs up that you gather for your "mental basket of well-being" today?

Google AI (take it for what it's worth?) says this about the "mental basket of well being."

A "mental basket of well-being" refers to a metaphorical collection of practices, habits, and activities that contribute to a person's overall mental health and positive emotional state, essentially acting like a "basket" to hold and nurture different aspects of well-being, such as mindfulness, healthy relationships, physical activity, meaningful pursuits, and stress management techniques.
Key elements that could be included in a "mental basket of well-being":

Mindfulness practices: Meditation, deep breathing exercises, paying attention to the present moment without judgment.
Physical activity: Regular exercise, movement, and staying active.
Social connection: Spending time with loved ones, building strong relationships.
Meaningful activities: Engaging in hobbies, creative pursuits, volunteering.
Healthy sleep habits: Getting enough quality sleep.
Stress management techniques: Relaxation methods, problem-solving skills
Positive self-talk: Practicing self-compassion and reframing negative thoughts.
Continuous learning: Expanding knowledge and skills through education or new hobbies.
Healthy eating: Maintaining a balanced diet.

Trying to remember that positive attitude that my workout imparted on Thursday afternoon, not the stinkin' thinkin' that went on before!'

The water company is supposed to make a service call to check for a small leak this a.m.between 8 and 11 for the HOA. They're supposed to call first, and I'll let the other guy know to meet us too. I've got at workout at 2 and we might eat out tonight. Or I saw that dh was thawing brats yesterday, maybe that will be our supper? We both took a sick day yesterday - him in front of TV and me upstairs.

I feel better this a.m. - my eye still feels gunky and a little swollen but I'm not as congested. Probably will still workout at two if nothing changes.

Dog walked two laps (that's 2/3 mile only) 38 degrees with a little sun and little wind sure does feel different from 50 degrees yesterday in a gale.

My day got off to a good start. Woke up naturally, showered and all personal care tasks done. Then I went out the door to do morning mile and made it back home at 7am in time to wake DD13 up to get ready for school.

DH is not feeling his best and doesn't want to eat. I am monitoring all his health metrics, and they are good. DH lifelong most trustworthy friend and former coworker funeral is today so he is grieving. I talked DH into eating yogurt to get some protein into him. DH is chatting with DS16 which assures me that he is thinking clearly. The funeral is during the time to get DD13 from school, so I won't be attending the funeral. Another one of DH lifelong friends called this morning to chat and when he found out that I couldn't attend he volunteered to take DH to the funeral with him. It is a difficult day for DH, but he is surrounded by those who love him. Hopefully he can get through it without triggering another memory loss episode.

Homeschooling with DS16 is going well. He started today's assignments last night, so he is almost finished.

Things are progressing here. Water leaks have dealt with. Toilet leak, shower leak and water fountain leak responsible for Clubhouse water issues. Water co responsible for issue on irrigation system. They are to adjust on both leaks, I think. Guy who is "grounds committee" of one and I talked up there - water to clubhouse needs to be turned off entirely in winter - wasn't done. So that may fall under his committee in the future. Needs to be communicated to all so I need to draft that long email. Inquiring also whether clubhouse water was pool committee responsibility in the past. And the social committee may not be happy that the toilets are turned off for their Christmas party. (LOL, we used to have a real Christmas party at a home!)

I need a shower but will defer until after workout at this point.

Found this a.m. my annual county sticker for my car that expired in Feb. Just put it on - if stopped for it they could check that I have renewed already. I also filled my meds containers and a bunch of other things that I've forgotten now. The water troubleshooting is the big accomplishment for now.

Less than an hour before I need to leave for workout. Need to get ready.

I got DH to eat a BBQ sandwich. That amount of protein/carb/fat should safely take him through the afternoon activities. I am still on high alert with DH memory issues, but I have done everything i know to do. Now i need to relax. After 52 years together DH picks up on my anxiety level. The best thing I can do for him is chill out.

Still no asparagus yet in 2025. Last year the first spear appeared on March 1st. So, the wait continues.....

The wait time to monitor me after finishing is another 90 mins, they say. Sigh. Had a.good sandwich. Ds and dd26 worried that we would be so late one of them would be needed to spell HRH but looks like it will be fine.
