You know, unless someone posts before I'm done I owe a SHEM. For those who don't recall, a SHEM is a SHE message/meditation, posted on the old board when one posted three times in a row.

Dh came in with distractions. Questions. Dog sitters. Neighbors who want to get together this week. Had to put my foot down re entertaining both neighbor couples on Thursday night. We'll invite them over after dinner time for drinks and visiting. I know the couple next door has a retirement gift for dh that they may want to present to him. He was over there while I was away and they got him to tell them his favorite "dream" bourbon, and they went out and bought a bottle for him.

I may have to stop doing things here at the kitchen counter when he's underfoot. I hate to move the financial stuff for cemetery and HOA upstairs; there's enough paper accumulation already up there, and I focus better down here w/o distractions of genealogy and cardmaking hobbies. Realistically, I need to adjust my working habits to get this done when the house is quiet, whenever that is.

Back to HOA checks.

SHEM (speaking of trying something different today):
Writer and designer Edith Wharton, the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize, on what causes old age:
"The producer of old age is habit: the deathly process of doing the same thing in the same way at the same hour day after day, first from carelessness, then from inclination, at last from cowardice or inertia.

Habit is necessary; but it is the habit of having careless habits, of turning a trail into a rut, that must be incessantly fought against if one is to remain alive... one can remain alive long past the usual date of disintegration if one is unafraid of change, insatiable in intellectual curiosity, interested in big things, and happy in small ways."

Thanks for that quote! Twins.

I have watched my shows and got quite a bit of yarn crafting done.
Had my dinner.

Hmmm... I think my trail has probably been a rut for a long time...
We all know I struggle with all of this: "unafraid of change, insatiable in intellectual curiosity, interested in big things, and happy in small ways."
Well, not "happy in small ways" -- I do find happiness in lots of little things, but I do have a huge fear of change, and I am probably lacking in intellectual curiosity, and probably not interested enough in big things.
I spent a lot of time last night looking at my posts on a monthly basis for the past year -- what was I talking about on the 21st of each month? I seem to be doing okay, but I don't see a lot of growth or change.

Anyway -- today was a great example of how I operate -- if it doesn't get done before I leave the house, it probably won't get done. Sigh.
I had a million errands to run -- and I'm thankful dcousin's court thing was postponed so I could get it done. Keep in mind, Tuesday is SUPPOSED to be my WHB day.
* The "PLAN" is
Monday -- Laundry
Tuesday -- WHB
Wednesday -- Complete WHB with attention to ZONE
Thursday -- Catch up
Friday -- Rest/Family
Saturday -- Family
Sunday -- Worship/Plan
I rarely meet expectations on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

So today -- errands --
* Took Dr. Seuss books to elementary and middle schools for dgd & dgs' teachers to sign
* Went to post office
* Got oil changed, tires rotated
* Stopped at drug store, got allergy syringes
* Went to bank (ATM)
* Went to dollar store, could not find milk thistle supplement dmom wanted
* Talked to dmom on the phone
* Went to doctor's office, paid dmom's bill there
* Ate supper at local drive-in
* Home -- put sheets in dryer -- ate a candy bar -- fell asleep on the couch
~~~
Talked to DS; a young man his age, former student, has passed away suddenly with a blood clot.
Talked to DDIL; she has recovered dmom's treasured cup which was left at rehab, is returning it to dmom.
-- -- Sidenote -- -- This must be dmom's "support" cup. It is a tall plastic cup with a straw holder, clear, double-walled/insulated? and it has the logo for that OTHER SCHOOL on it! LOL... it amazes me that she is so attached to it! When she comes to my house for a birthday dinner or something, she has this cup with her caffeine-free cola in it. Somehow while signing papers for dismissal last week, she left it at rehab, but ddil was called in to work last night, and found it, and dmom has now been reunited with it. Shaking my head.
But my sheets are still in the dryer, bed is still unmade, and I'm just sitting here watching TV.
UPDATE 3.5 hours later
Yes, more tv and games on phone, BUT
* Clean sheets on bed
* Dusted bedroom (timed myself — takes 15 min)
Tomorrow is another day.
