I don't remember if it was in Friday's post that asked about introducing baby's to a grandchild. I don't have those yet but I have had pets when I have had babies. I would start with bringing a blanket for the dog to smell. I would always use the dog's name with the baby's name and call it Fido's Joey for example. Depends on temperament of dog too. If they understand the command "gentle" use that. One of our dogs I just laid the baby on the floor and let them sniff, while another one of us held the dog and the other the baby and let sniff from feet up.

Doggedly I got such a kick out of the names of your dogs. I have a dachshund too and yours names Dreadnaught made me laugh out loud. What time of dog is Inertia and does he just stay still and not move a lot like his name? Momentum too made me laugh. I had a Casper and I like Germain. My little Max (15 year old almost blind and deaf) is not a fan of small people at all. They grab his ears or try to pick him up and he is very tender on his sides and it scares him - he will nip a child so I hold him and muzzle him with my hand and they can lightly pet his back with permission.

Trissie - you are on an early start. My 26 and 30 year old bicker with each other constantly - I still send them to their rooms.

gma - how old his your mom's dog? How is he doing without your mom? Do you get to take the dog to visit? How is your mom doing now?

helia - that is a great thing to do with the dinner dates.

FFB - Snails, I hope they like their new home.

L. Ann I with bocce where more popular here.

Sunday duties are finally over, this has been the most busy last 2 weeks. Yesterday was my birthday and it was very lowkey and so nice. R made me breakfast and C and R did cake and charcuterie for after seeing the musical Legally Blonde and N and R sent me Flowers and P got me a new waterproof dress watch but I have to get links taken out to wear it. Going to take the doggie for a walk.

I have to get my head wrapped around these last 4 weeks of work. Meeting with account guy about my pension payments - I draw a regular paycheck until August 1 as it pays out my teaching contract but I need to get my head around afterthat. I don't start back to work until Sept 2 so I will have to withdraw some money from retirement. I will probably open a moneymarket or something. Change is hard for me.

Hello, everyone!

Trissie, I hope you survived the shopping trip with the girls!

FFB, maybe DS6 could somehow "make right" what he did to DS9?

Helian, what a lovely idea to have a "dinner date" with each DKid separately when they were growing up.

L.Ann, I hope the bocce tournament went well.

Good to see you, KitKat!

Gma, I think you mentioned DDog had pancreatitis? I don't know if it's the same in dogs, but with cats, it can be very painful and also cause nausea, so maybe an anti sickness injection might help her? Last summer when Jude was very poorly and refused to eat, the vet, having extensively tested and scanned her, and having exhausted most other things that cats can have, gave her a short (7 day) course of mirtazapine ( it was formulated as a gel that you rub on the inside of her ear.) Within a day or so, she was eating for England! I don't know if this is licensed for dogs?

I hope you enjoyed church, Laura !

I'm glad you had a lovely birthday, CL!

Hi, Peaches!

It's been a very good day. We had a baptism at church today (12 year old boy), and afterwards, DF E was in very good form again. Lunch was roast chicken breast with a cracked pepper nrub on the skin, roast potatoes, gravy, tenderstem broccoli, carrots and peas, followed by Columbian coffee ice cream (courtesy of Waitrose - going out last evening meant I didn't really have time to make a dessert!) The sun came out this afternoon, so I had a good few hours in my garden, and I've planted most of the geraniums - I'm going to have some in pots along the fence, and the rest in the small border by the gate, that gets baked by the sun in summer.

Laundry is folded and PA, and the kitties have been fed. I'm going to try for an early night, but I want to post my list for the week first.

Future dates to note:

Outstanding deliveries:

Extras:
Amend Amazon S&S items
Digital decluttering- Google Photos for 2024 and 2025
Pick up my footprints
House tasks: clean gutters and the swan neck on the downpipes where "stuff" tends to accumulate, clean cladding back and front and downpipes, and short return wall as well. Replace the bit of mortar that's fallen out of the edge of the roof (I think its called the verge?) , fix dripping kitchen tap ( new washer?), sort out cabinet that wobbles, fix garage guttering that's loose at one end and bending down. More as I think of them? Texted 10/3😀 and 14/4😀
If no reply by the end of the month, then definitely look for someone else (DF PM is also starting to become exasperated with his reluctance)
Steps to take to find a replacement: ask friends, look on local sources eg Nextdoor for recommendations
I may have to split the jobs between different people this year if I can't find someone who's good at a variety of skills, so:
For gutter cleaning, Dneighbours R and A used Ben's gutters -are they pleased with the work? Does BG also clean cladding? Do they have a website? Yes 😀
Also The E Gutter Cleaners -they have good reviews😀
Prepare my "job spec" WIP
Fill in free quote forms for both the above companies
Wait and see the results!
Kitchen tap - DF E has given me the phone number if her plumber . I think DF CW also has a plumber she is happy with?
Garage gutter - probably a handyman needed here - Text /message a few likely candidates and see what happens. Does Dneighbour R2 do handyman type jobs? I know he's done work for Dneighbour R in the past, but that was larger jobs, like laying a path!
Pick a new podiatrist from my "short list"
Book an appointment !
Take up and hem those thick winter curtains for the kitchen
Book eye test for me
Find picture hanging equipment for DH
Sort prints and put in albums (this will probably be an activity to do on wet days!) WIP I am now working on 2024
Think about setting up Guardianship for F,J and M - looked on Cats' Protection, I need their microchip numbers, approximate DOB, colour and markings and useful information about them. Bookmark link with local recommended solicitors (also ask DF CW?)
Change health centres to the one nearest us? On hold ATM , but I'll leave it on my list so I don't forget.

Hi cl. Thanks for the advice. It'll come meeting up . I just haven't had any kids in my circle for Casper to meet yet. Happy Birthday by the way. Sounds like a lovely day.

Churches wss good. Lunch was good . P is going to make focusing on kids ministry and young families and goodness knows what else. As well as some admin and website stuff. She's full of zeal and we're excited.

Now I need to decide where to begin. Sun came out beautiful outside. Dh wanted to try and divert some of the excess water in the yard. I need to begin with Casper territory. Even if we can get a start then it's going. I guess I will start by getting changed and go for an investigation walk. What is growing what is buried in water.

Priorities

Casper territory
Flowerbed shape
Is my rhubarb alive

Finally back. The walk with my friend is critical for my mental health, FFB. I spend a lot of time doing things for other people and it is the one thing I do for me with a friend that really understands me and my family.
We went to the fairy festival. Both Little Bit and DD32 came home feeling tired and sort of sick. DD32 is still having trouble being outside in the pollen. Not sure what is up with Little Bit…. She said I am grumpy and I am ready to go home! She behaved fine but it was crowded and lots of standing in lines which didn’t impress either Little Bit or DD32.

1-clean up kitchen
2-FACE
3-evening meds for DD32

Menus
Monday-garlic lime chicken with roasted veggies
Tuesday-street cart chicken and rice
Wednesday-DD32 out/leftovers for me
Thursday-pasta for DD32 and Little Bit/something for me
Friday-spicy Peruvian chicken
Saturday-Mexicali black bean soup

Thursday-Little Bit 7:40-5, bocce, register Little Bit for swimming
Friday-Hopkins@11

Weekly House Blessing-mop dining room and kitchen, dust, vacuum
