When I was out of the house earlier, dh did some dishes. He does all the dishes in the sink and says he doesn't know how to load the dishwasher or turn it on and off.

I picked up dh's birthday gift today. It has been at the framer for 3 weeks. His birthday is in just over a week. When I went in, they hadn't even started it. They asked me to come back in 20 minutes, so I went and did some other things in the area. Came back and they were "almost" finished, so I waited. Long story short, I will need to take it back to be done properly after dh's birthday. The fabric isn't straight and it doesn't line up along any of the 4 edges. This will drive me crazy. It will also never win at a local craft fair because it's not straight and that is one thing they look for very carefully. I would have left it there to get fixed but that tiny town is having a 4 day street closure around this plaza in the upcoming week.

Dh and I did spend some time outside this afternoon.

Cathy, that is WAY frustrating. I was so pleased you were able to get that done early and be assured it was ready! But this will be more trips, etc. Back when my dfirstmil was having cross stitch framing done, this would have bothered her so much. She was a stickler for straight mounting and it would be so obvious to her if it wasn't.

Twins', that's great that you've had some pain relief.

Rain - Kittykatt mentioned hers has finally stopped so yay for that. Here, we are so much more than saturated, and it is causing trouble. Ddolder got a little lawn mowing in today at her house that was SO needed. I am shocked at the humidity level in our house and convinced it isn't supposed to be like this. We're wondering if we need to ask someone to go under the house and make sure there is no standing water. yipes.

LadyM, sorry you've had this adjustment. Dishwashers offer such a time saving. It made me think of those signs (some I've seen are large with large lettering) that say whether the dishes have been done or not. If you think a sign will help dh not to use dishwasher, do you think maybe seeing a "done" sign would help? (or do they more usually say "clean" changing to "dirty" - maybe that's it?) I realize it might be you who has to turn that sign to the correct side after the machine finishes. And maybe it would just be confusing, don't know.

More dishes chat - I have wrestled our dishwashing back to a point of having all dishes done by the end of every day. This was a constant for me for at least 25, probably 30 years, since I first got a dishwasher and continuing here in the older house (where there has never been one) until my own stamina meant HRH had to step in to this and so many other roles. I hope I keep it up for another 30!

All ddolder's children have gotten to their respective responsibilities today. Whew. WonderBoy has his driver's permit and a little less than a year from now will be eligible for his license. DangerBoy tells me his summer job is "not particularly hard and fun most of the time". (Aquatic center counselor and equipment manager) I told him to appreciate it, because there aren't many folks who can say that about their workplaces after they hit their 20s!

Next Up - laundry is buzzing me.

On the dishes chat. Since we're all in the dishes business... this is probably my weakness. I struggle so much finishing things. Lately I've probably devotional some bad habits specially since I'm often tired after work. I tend to get the food put away and the dw loadedand usually on after supper. Never wash the pots it seems till my day off. And most of the time not everything fits in the dw so I have leftover stuff that goes in when I Empty and reload it in the morning. Always leftovers and never done. My kitchen sink is not always shiny and clean. How would I manage to offset this so I can get it all done .just my adhd showing through...

Lady m That is hard to figure out what to do. Is he putting clean stuff back in and running it again maybe? Sometimes a camera might be useful. I hope they can straighten out the framing job properly.

Harriet I am so glad you seem to be getting some energy back.

Hello to everyone! I did not realize I had not posted since Monday, but I guess I am doing okay... not especially "thriving," but nothing major is going wrong.

Today, the pest control man came to give me an estimate on vapor barrier and removing old, torn (by animals) insulation.
Y'all -- $4700!!! That is a little bit ridiculous IMHO. I know they will be covering approximately 4000 sq feet, but still... $4700???
AND WHEN THAT IS DONE, I will still have to get an HVAC man out here to repair some of the ductwork which has also been damaged by this animal (raccoon? He says it is a LARGE raccoon if that is what it is.) Also, where I put rock around the AC unit, he thinks mesh wire is needed, also a job for the HVAC man, and that it should be done on the other unit also. This is very depressing to me. The HVAC people in town all have reputations for being very pricey, and the man whom we always called just died about a month ago. AND I do not think the contractor he did my roof/ceiling work will want to do the vapor barrier, etc, but maybe he will know someone who will charge less than $4700.
I have the money... I've been saving $500 monthly since dh passed, but my goodness, I don't want to spend it all on this!
At least carpenter friend can let me know if this price sounds as ridiculous to him as it does to me. Yard man was here this morning and when I asked him what he thought that job should cost, (without telling him the estimate I'd just been given) he said about $1500.

Otherwise, I've just been busy with dgrands and just really dragging this week. This afternoon I ate two cinnamon pop tarts, and that began an all evening thing of trying to get my blood sugar normal, I guess. I wasn't weak and shaky, but I got so sleepy I couldn't stand it!
DGS and I went to local BBQ restaurant and ate inside, and I felt a little better, but still fell asleep afterwards.
I went out to dmom's for a little while today, tried a bunion "brace" I had ordered for her, decided to return it. Ordered a 10" tv for her kitchen. Tried one of those copper pain patches on her back, decided that wasn't going to work either. (It's hard to help her.)

Oh -- and yesterday, I spent a long while at church -- addressing envelopes and sending letters to members informing them of our new name and the disaffiliation situation. Proofread the bulletin for the pastor. LOL -- that was a good thing. In the choral reading, her first draft said, "Sing praises to the Lord; we will sin and praise the Lord." Pastor usually doesn't have to do the bulletin; church secretary is on vacation.

Daunt and I had semi-planned to go to a funeral (her second cousin) this afternoon, but I called her before the pest man came and told her that I just couldn't do that, just not enough time in the day. I had worried about disappointing her, but she said, "That is fine; I was thinking I needed to call you and tell you I didn't want to go either. We aren't that close and they will never miss us."

Tomorrow is dgd's play after her week of drama class. I'm looking forward to that, because she seems really excited about it.
