I spent some time in the kitchen preparing several food items. 4 kinds of meat, spaghetti, three kinds of vegetables. I quit posting my daily updates in the Happening in Kitchen thread because it became too tedious to capture the details of what is being recorded in the Kitchen spreadsheet. I prefer to update spreadsheet in real time as it is happening and not try to consolidate it into an entire day of food happenings. (not sure that makes sense to anyone other than me)

Happy Father’s Day to everyone who is celebrating.

I didn’t have a very nice father growing up can’t even say he tried to do his best cause. I’m not sure he really did but that’s the way it goes.

My kitchen is almost finished. Mark will be over tomorrow to put up shades in my kitchen and also finish putting the insulation underneath my dishwasher. I love my tile and the way it turned out. When it first went up, I wasn’t too sure because I was going to like it. Especially with all those yellow spacers that they had to stick in it it was hard to tell. But I’m very pleased with it now and every time I walk in the kitchen, it makes me smile. Smile. I need to find a cleaner for my house. The one that Mark uses is busy so I need to find someone else. I’ve done a lot of minor stuff, wiping everything down and vacuuming all those kind of things dusting but my floors need a good cleaning and so forth and so on, so I’d rather have someone else do it.

I rearranged my living room and it feels a lot better this way. I’m also in the process of removing some of my drapes in my bedroom and changing the way, they have been hooked onto the rod. The woman before took a rope and ran it through the grommets which you made it very difficult to close the drapes when I wanted to. Sweetie climbed up. It took the rope apart, so we could try out some hooks to see what I needed to do. I ended up using shower curtain hooks because they worked the best. Went to target and all they had was one package, but I bought them just to see if they would work. They look great so I just ordered four more packages from target and I’m looking forward to it.

Blessed… I know what you mean when you say your mom gets nasty and says things to you and it hurts your feelings. Sweetie, does that to me sometimes and I have to keep reminding myself that is it is the disease that it’s talking not him.

I decided to treat myself this afternoon and I’m going to sit out by the pool for a little while. I haven’t done much except work around the house and be here for when all the workers were here so it’d be nice to have a little bit of time to relax. I have a good book to read so I’m looking forward to it.

Waving to you all… Enjoy your day

(((RRose))) I completely understand about the "bad" father thing. Dh and I both had fathers who should never have had children because they sure acted like they hated us.

Dh wanted to help make the bean salad. All I did was open and drain the can of mixed beans and I chopped half an onion and threw it on top. All that was left for him to do was add pepper and oil and vinegar. He wasn't happy that I chopped the onion. It just so happens that I enjoy chopping food up. Like this morning I peeled one egg before he sat down to help and he wasn't happy that I did one egg. Sheesh.

It hasn't been a good week here between the 2 of us and I think this next week will also be difficult. He hates Father's Day and he hates people wishing him "happy birthday" on FBook or in person. Sigh... one more week.

Lunch out with ds was nice and I was happy to see him. I don't talk to him as often as dh does so it's nice to catch up. At one point in the spring, he was to go with a work group to Shanghai China to assess a piece of machinery that was being built for his company, but that's off the table now. The plant is actually letting some people go - will be contract employees before him - but things have changed for electric batteries for cars.

Tomorrow's calendar only has my workout for now. Dh has a dinner out on the calendar and I was thinking I was getting a free evening, but he says now he and the guy may pick up take out (from the favorite place, in which case I get take out too) and come here to eat on the porch. OTOH, he says if weather is bad they'll go out. I told him I went from having a free evening to possibly entertaining!

I made my chicken sandwich open faced at lunch and left off 1/2 the bun. It had coleslaw and crispy onions on it and was excellent. DH got brats out of the freezer for our supper - I don't think I'll be that hungry for awhile but we'll see.

I never know how to handle some holidays. Father Day is one of those difficult ones. I am raising two children that have been abandoned by their biological father. DS16 has asked questions about him but DD14 has no interest in knowing anything to do with him. DS16 has sought and filled his life with many male mentors that he goes to for advice. I want to believe DS16 will grow up to be a compilation of these men who have freely given him good male influence. He knows they will call him on his cr*p but they are 99% encouraging and don't hold back on giving him frequent att-a-boys. Having a group of male mentors does not make up for not knowing your biological father, but it does seem to help.

DS51 and DD49 have both called and had conversation with DH today. DS51 has been car shopping today with DGD15. It seems crazy that she is old enough to drive. Time sure does fly......

Late night/early morning check-in! It's after 1:00 a.m. here.
I've s2t-shirt so if the carpenter calls me in the morning, I'll be able to get up and get dressed quickly. I also washed my hair and did a facial masque.
DGS is spending the night.
They all (ds/ddil/dgrands) went to Big City and had supper and ice cream at a couple places they saw last week when looking for a dishwasher. (They did not invite me, but honestly, I don't mind. I figure they need some time on their own. I ate frozen lasagna and had some ice cream here at home. Much cheaper. I have been giving ds $20 or so when we are all eating out at most places. Sometimes I pay for everyone if we're at a fast food place, but it's pretty expensive to feed five people, and I am spending a lot more on food for these kids with someone spending the night usually every night.)

We had that uncomfortable vote at church this morning. More in J&C.
After church dgs and I ate a local chicken place, then I took him home. DDIL had told him and dgd they needed to straighten up the house before ds got home from the church where he was playing this morning.
I came home and took a long nap, got the garbage to the road, ate my supper, and then went to pick up dgs for the night. We drove up to the cemetery to check the flowers on dh's grave. I still kinda wish I had gotten a bigger stone, but dgs told me he didn't know why I was obsessed with this, that I should know that dh would have wanted me to save money if I could.

Father's Day is kinda sad with ds being the only "father" in our family now. As you all know, my relationship with my dad was kinda difficult sometimes, but it's sad that he and dh aren't with us anymore. I also miss dh's dad -- he was a really great father to dh, and he treated me like his own from the first time he met me. I miss my grandfathers too. But I've been okay today. Since dh wasn't big on celebrating Father's Day, it's not a huge thing for me.

Tomorrow, I am going to try very hard to hit the ground running. New routine plan  is to try my very best to get as much done on Mondays (laundry and WHB) as possible. It should be much easier to manage things with DGS here, rather than DGD, and maybe I can get her to wait till supper time to come over.
Tuesday, dmom has an appointment for a check-up with her pulmonologist. I don't think I have anything else on the calendar for this week.

Waving to ALL. Hope you all have a great day to start the week.
Tomorrow is another day.

D rose I have a feeling that my history with mom, not always being fair or nice, adds to the hurt that is now misplaced and unnecessary at this point. . She could never get it - she had difficulty understanding other peoples feelings - not a bad person but totally unaware that her opinions did not mean that other people were "weak", wrong, "too sensitive" or "had issues". in saying that, I totally agree - I have to remember that it is the disease that is in charge.

There is a lot of good, in this time, - I just can't react.
