Re: Friday PWYC Conga Line - Let's go!
cleaned out my car of stuff - it needs vacuuming
mom is with it and has her own mind of what she wants to do. Normal feisty
dd is taking pictures in Michigan - but not bringing her dog bc she will be inside. I worry about her driving near Gary Indiana and just driving on her own with out her dog, (in those areas) . it's to hot for him to go with and my car a/c doesn't stay on; it would be dangerous.
she is excited for Sunday bc her dog is learning how to track/find people

I have done one room zone cleaning yea!
Worked on another have to take breaks as it's taking some elbow grease.
About half way or nearing 3/4th on my current task.
Did some knitting on my break.
Mail has been processed.
Soup is done I am not hungry so waiting on that.
I could freeze some up from this batch it is a smaller one.
-----
Made great progress on my zone cleaning work.
Made a new flavor of pizza it it's a hit!
Got the dishes done and put away.
Cool & rained.

Re: Friday PWYC Conga Line - Let's go!
... my tolerance for people who fib/exaggerate highly is getting smaller
Yes, I have noticed that about myself. I ask myself (probably while pouting), why would I bother, then, with the care and attention I might give to trying to be accurate or not say anything negative if I'm not absolutely sure, etc. I feel a little cheated, perhaps, when others toss fibs around. The rearing we always gave our children to try to tell the truth was not unimportant or trivial, IMO, but kept us all sane and consciences clear, so that we could all get on with life.
Adulting for me today has been focused on med appts from the time the alarm went off. Hardest part was waiting several hours between dr appt and injection appt because of the way they were scheduled. Then when finally checked in for injection, another half-hour for lab to formulate. Sigh. HRH was so uncomfortable. We've been home just long enough to get a quick late lunch into our tummies.
Happily, Monday appt cancelled again this coming week (I was "on probation", lol, but bloodwork freed me), so I am still going only once a week right now. A med infusion on the 30th will spoil that record, but that's okay.\
In the Fun and Games thread, KittyKatt has posted a litany/memory of British pre-decimalization coinage that is very interesting. We hear these words in US but don't really understand, such as how many of which equals another coin, etc.

Re: Friday PWYC Conga Line - Let's go!
I've been busy this afternoon. Did all errands but forgot about dropping off the check for the teen who cleans the cabana. I can do it this weekend sometime. Otherwise, post office, bank, groceries, car wash. Home with groceries I put away perishables and it was time for 2 p.m. Zoom. And thank goodness she's been writing! I reminded her that when we meet again in two weeks it's less than a month before her due date to turn this in! EEeeeek! That makes me crazy!
Then it was time for another Zoom with insurance guy re Medicare part D i.e. prescription drugs. Not very effective honestly. I call them Monday with the plan ID to sign up.
Received Stampin up small order and giving myself some play time. We are meeting friends tonight for Mexican out.

Re: Friday PWYC Conga Line - Let's go!
I've been "on call" because of limbs down in my side yard (evidently hitting our electric wires but not quite large enough to cause any problem with that) and also in ddolder's yard. I certainly didn't do any of the work and pick-up but was in the loop of decisions. Storms certainly have been rough. It has only been a few days since the electric company had to work on a tree not far from us that had taken out a lot of folks' power.
I napped, which was wise, I think.
HRH made a meal for us that was very light so I think I'll have a late supper.
BTW, dr mentioned to us today that she's heard our mosquito situation here (regionally?) is "ferocious" and she warned us to be careful, says she herself is trying to remember and be cautious.

Re: Friday PWYC Conga Line - Let's go!
Day #2 of my 4 day experiment is almost done. I am half way there. FBit says I have walked 781 steps today, so I was successful in keeping it under 1000 steps. I have gone 48 hours without hip pain. NICE!

Re: Friday PWYC Conga Line - Let's go!
I wish my problem was keeping my step count low, LadyM. LOL... I'm sorry, I know this is hard for you! You know, some of ds16's energy genes just MIGHT come from YOU!!!
But I hope rest helps your muscles to recover and you feel better soon.
Wow -- sorry for all the storm trouble, Harriet! I'm glad there's no actual damage to the houses! We have finally had a full day with no rain, I think. BUT -- along with the sunshine comes higher temperatures. I think we're going to see 90 and above for the next week or so.
I bet with all the rain we've had, the mosquitos are rough around here too. I haven't been outside in the late evening much since baseball season ended, so that's probably a good thing.
Was it stormy while y'all were out at the medical appointments? Glad you get a long weekend away from doctors!
WTG on all the errands and Zooms, Twins! I know that makes for a busy day! Even around here in Tiny Town it's sometimes more hectic than I plan when I have a lot of stops to make. Do you have to get into really bad city traffic or are most of your errands more outside what I would guess is a congested city traffic?
Harriet, DS and I have been having that conversation about people who fib/exaggerate. We are losing our tolerance too. You want to just CALL THEM OUT on it and set it all straight and let them know that you aren't an idiot who believes all this... but then, maybe THE LIAR IS THE IDIOT and really believes all this, so is it worth it to make them feel stupid when they don't even know they are lying? DS and I have remained quiet and refrained from setting people straight in recent situations... but it is tiresome.
Nancy, WTG on zone-room! MY zone this week, and last week, and probably the week before that, was the OUTDOORS. But with all the rain, combined with my lack of time and lack of enthusiasm, nothing has been done.
Blessed, vacuuming the car would be good outside work for me too. Maybe tomorrow.
However -- today, our carpenter friend came and he and DS went under the floor. He just doesn't see any problem. Yes, there is some condensation from the HVAC system, but that is to be expected when the temperature is 90 degrees and we've had weeks of constant rain. He said there are definitely places where the plastic vapor barrier has been pulled out of place by some animal, but there are two layers of plastic there, and it's really not a problem. There are places where the wrapping around the ductwork has been torn loose, but there is no problem with the actual metal part of the ductwork. He sees no sign of mold or fungus, no damage on any floor joists/etc, just nothing to get excited about... and certainly nothing that I should spend $4700 on! He said he could make it look better and repair the insulation/wrapping around the ductwork, which might help the condensation, and he felt $500-$600 would do the job nicely. So I am much relieved about this.
Times like this, I miss my dad's expertise so much, but I do trust this man so much. I know he and his wife think of DS as an extra grandchild, and we've been friends over 20 years. He is a preacher and musician, and DS started playing music with him when ds was still in high school.
He has another job he is committed to in the next couple weeks, but he will get back to me in a few weeks.
Also re: outside work, I intended to spray this "Snake Stop" around the house. Well... the bottle has to be attached to the water hose, and then I will have to re-attach the water hose 4 times and go around the house and I have a REALLY hard time with my water hose. So I am thinking I am going to return this to Wmart and just scatter some moth balls around the foundation. I have not actually seen a snake so far this year, and DGS pointed out that if I had/have NO snakes, I might have mice/rats. Well, we know I don't want that... so I'm of mixed opinions about this. DSIL next door did see a snake going under their house, and ddil saw one going straight up the window in her den! But so far, none here. The one stuck on the brick right beside my back door really freaked me out though, LOL.
I can imagine how you worry about DD driving alone in cities like that, blessed. I'm still not over my fear of driving to College Town. How long will DD be on the road?
75-80 is about my limit for heat too! If I'm going to do outside work, I better get to it before we start having the 100s too.
And yes, LadyM -- 101 DOES sound a lot hotter than 99!
I need to do some adulting... sheesh. Tomorrow, maybe I can catch up. I will not have the dgrands. DS and DDIL want to do a family outing for dgs' upcoming 13th birthday. They are going to go bowling. Then dgd and dgd are spending the night with the other grandparents, because their grandpa is off work Sunday, so won't be going to bed so early Saturday night. This is unusual because he usually goes to bed before the sun goes down! DGS may spend Sunday night with me, but then I won't be on Nana-duty until Thursday, I think.
WTG, Cathy, on your adulting! I have NEVER made jam or done anything like that. My mother and my grandmothers did -- they all had gardens and canned and froze produce and did ALL the things. I don't know how to do anything.
Okay... there's one more thing I need y'all to tell me I'm not crazy about.
For a long time, I've been looking at these "memory bears" on Facebook that people make from a loved one's clothing. Well... now I have ds' approval that the shirts I would like to use to do teddy bears for dgrands (and one for myself) -- he doesn't think he would want to wear the shirts I have chosen, or they don't fit him -- but NOW I'm kinda having a panic attack over it.
It's partly the thing about just DOING something with dh's clothing. I still haven't really touched ANY of his things, except to put his last load of (washed!) underwear in the bin at the grocery store parking lot. (I hear they just cut up a lot of their donations for scrap.) I mean, on his nightstand, there is still a water bottle and the pill he intended to take when he woke up the next day. I did wash his clothes, except for the last shirt he was wearing, and it is still hanging on the rack by the bathroom where he left it. It was 14 months last week.
However, it's partly GUILT because I sorta picked out one of these shirts before he died! I was ironing one night, and there is one shirt that I really love. It is all pastel stripes, the same colors as my bedspread, and I was ironing and I had been looking at these FB images, and I thought, "If something happens to him, I'm going to have a bear made out of this shirt." Now I feel sooo guilty for having that thought. Am I totally CRAZY? Or is that just a HORRIBLE thought??? I feel so terrible about it.
There was a Goldie Hawn and Burt Reynolds movie where she was crying and he asked what was wrong. She said, "I was just pretending my parents died." He said, "Why on earth would you be pretending your parents died???" She says, "I pretend it has happened, so when it does, I will be prepared."
It was funny in the movie, but I think sometimes over the last 7 years of dh's life, this weighed heavily on my mind and maybe I did try to prepare for it. But it's not funny now, it just makes me feel like I'm a terrible person.
Anyway -- should I have the bears made for dgrands as part of their Christmas gifts? Dgs' would be one with College Town logo, and dgd's would be one with a pastel check with some blue, pink, & purple in it, her favorite colors and the colors of her bedroom.
