Thinking Cap Thursday PWYC

Post by Harriet »

Hmmm.... .. what are we thinking today...

Something quite remarkable, certainly.

Be sure to share - some may have trouble finding their caps today :? ,
and knowing you are out there pondering may be very reassuring.

I have been noticing the my brain and my body aren't connecting right away when I first get up - I need to sit a bit and have a cup of coffee

I am a little nervous bc the company with the caretaker are coming today and the house is still getting away from me. I thought I could wash all the floors but I just couldn't get to it. She will stay from 8 to 2 pm
8:30 will be better in the future.

Mom is a little awake but not ready to get up.

Thinking thinking thinking today. I was kind of paralyzed with indecision yesterday after handling all those old photos that I need to do "something" with. And indecision about selling stamping things vs giving away. Selling could be a lot of trouble and time and not all that much money but OTOH it reaps something of what I've spent over the years.

I did do something that was a priority in the late afternoon into evening. I finalized the invitation for dh's retirement party (27 July) and entered all the email and phone info to send electronically. And just now, reviewed it again and took a deep breath and hit the send button. What an easy way to collect RSVPs....

Anyway, deep breath. Tonight is dh's retirement party with selected clients...will be outside on a restaurant covered porch and it's gonna be hot, although not as hot as things have been. Projected 90 degrees at start with possible t-storms. Torn between summer jeans and a skort, although I usually wear a t-shirt with skorts...too casual?

I'll workout at two and come home to s2s. I think dh and I will take separate cars but not sure.

Also have already ordered groceries this a.m. for noon delivery. So that's done. Also have grandson of a neighbor pressure washing sidewalk, driveway and some or porch furniture today. I suspect back in the spring he was enthusiastic about making some money, but now....less enthusiastic. But he's here.

Good morning

I am checking off the SHE cards one by one this morning. I get a dopamine hit (giving pleasure & reward) with each completion. It was time to refill my monthly AM/PM vitamin containers which is boring & takes time, so I played the YTube recording of this morning news conference while accomplishing that boring but necessary task.

DH slept 3 hours longer than normal last night. I kept checking on him all during the night & this morning and each time he was sleeping so good. When he finally woke up he was back to "normal". I asked if he knew what year it is and he answered correctly without hesitation. I asked if he could name our 6 grandchildren and he immediately gave their names. He remembers yesterday so he has regained the ability to make new memories. ***Big Sigh of relief**

I have several things that were paused during the last 36 hours so will be restarting them and getting the plates spinning again.

Food is such a constant necessity and I seem to be barely able to keep up. I had DS16 take the 2 teens (GF and DD14) out to eat twice yesterday because I didn't have the bandwidth. When DH and I left the hospital after 8:30pm last night we hadn't eaten since breakfast. On the hour drive home we had a choice of Dollar Store or stopping at a gas station/convenience store to get something to eat. We tried but didn't find anything worth eating (IMHO). We could have driven more miles and found a fast food place open but neither one of us was the slightest bit interested in doing that. We came home and at 10pm I made multiple cheese quesadillas which were super easy and filling. That took care of yesterday's food.....but it is a new day with new food needs, so the constant food necessity continues.

When things are calm, LadyM, perhaps you could teach teens some of the basic food prep - the things they enjoy and then delegate some?

I'm puttering around but it's mostly productive. Put bunch of kitchen stuff in dishwasher and started it - the black support things over the stove gas burners, and the dish drying rack that's partly over the second sink. So I have several things in process right now - cleaning CPAP equip, cleaning up kitchen including stovetop, putting away groceries, and outside the guys working on the sidewalk/driveway cleaning.

I need to wrap those things up before I leave for my workout.

Since I put stove top grates in dishwasher I made a microwave omelet.

Obviously my thinking cap is hiding. I heard the recycling truck go by. I knew I had to get the compost bin out there. I decided I could do that before I left here at 10:30.... Compost pick up came by within an hour after that. Sheesh. Now I have to be careful to not over fill it in the next week. Cat litter is heavy and there is a maximum weight they will pick up. Sigh... oh, well, it was my fault.

At least I got the dishwasher emptied and refilled and turned it on before I went out.

When I left dh wasn't home. When I got back he had been home and locked the door. I really had to dig for my house key. I don't have to use it very often. I don't have a clue as to where he went or when he'll be home.

I am making steady progress. Nothing spectacular but progress nevertheless.

I spent some time in the kitchen with several appliances going so that food prep happened. Now the ready-to-eat section in the refrigerator has spaghetti, BBQ chicken breast, catfish fillets, biscuits, hash browns, hot links, ham, and hot dogs. Of course.....about half of this food that I just cooked has already been eaten. I have refilled the defrost tub that I keep in the refrigerator so there will be defrosted food ready to be cooked tomorrow. Having food ready to cook makes it so much easier than starting with frozen meat.

The teens can cook fairly well, but what they don't do well is be quiet while doing it. There is dishes/pot/pan noise, constant chatter, questions, enthusiasm and wanting to show off their accomplishment. Yesterday I opted to send them to eat out while I was attempting to keep DH environment quiet, calm & stable.

SHE card status =
29 completed
31 due today
5 overdue

Home from workout, asked for a workout today that wouldn't leave me feeling like a limp dish rag. I got home, walked dog and need to get into the shower next and be back out of the house to be at this party around five. It's gonna be hot.
