I have very few mosquito s here bc of all the herbs I have in my yard.
Had lunch & we've walked saw the turkeys again.
It's exciting, dropped the leash before we left and I was fighting it the first 1/2 of our walk as it would not retract and
got stuck. I dropped it again to see if it would help and it went back to the way is was the say it's spoosed to be yea it started retracting again.

I have opened up the house and gotten the air moving it's muggy.
Last weekend on a diff. group some one a therapist said the other persons I was dealing with had grief & pain too;
did not feel good but something I needed to take in consideration.

I got the fall decor upstairs and put out front.
Got my steps in.

Also got the lift pieces under the sewing machine and put it on the mini ironing board and it's now the perfect height
to work at now yea!

I have the brownies in the oven now. This is a recipe starting with a box brownie mix, then one adds marshmallows when they come out of the oven, then a layer of a chocolate icing from confectioners sugar, butter, baker's chocolate, milk and a little vanilla.

The challah looks great, I'll let dh sample when he comes home.

Ah, this has been sitting awhile. Brownies are done and in refrigerator to let icing set up. I'll slice them tomorrow and plate for temple and send dh with them.

Starting list for tomorrow. I need to clean up kitchen and walk the dog.

lucylee, I love that new card of yours for the cardfile! I wish you'd cut and paste that into the cardfile thread, it's so sensible. Trust lucylee to come up with a card that spans the overnight hours.

Well, ds brought the new, bright red mower to see us last evening. (smile) It is a Grav ely and actually brand new with warranty, so he's hoping with good care, it will last the many years his last mower did. He sat and chatted with us while our green-eyed boy mowed the lawn. He got a tricky light bulb put in for us in a tight place.

We did go out today and enjoyed the pretty weather, got lunch at a new-to-us place and returned here with that. HRH went in by himself. He was bewildered to be helped by two different waiters who could not express to him, through language barrier, the problems with the order he was trying to make. They kept pointing to the menu, but he couldn't understand what he was supposed to see. Finally, they rushed away to bring a very young teenage girl. She was fluent and expressive (age appropriate when you think about it) explained that the weekend menu was completely different from the one on their website. She helped him get everything he wanted ala carte and even sold him a new side dish she thought he would like.

I've been puzzling over my project and the finishing. Complicated to have a closure on the back that I won't have to hand stitch - may just have to, but I wonder if my fingers can manage the tedious, small work yet.

blessed, I've been (perhaps naughtily) thinking of your sister in law and how easily her name could come up. If another person has an opinion, well, then one instantly wonders what sister in law's opinion would be, considering she knows her mother in law so well as family, over so many years. The reason for seeking or taking a patient's long-time and current daughter in law's advice is clear, would never have to be explained. It would logically come before seeking another person's advice, who'd barely met her unless getting paid, and may or may not be a part of any future. No strings, possibly disappearing... .. That would be difficult to justify to extended family - why was that advice taken. Again, naughty. Not really thinking you want sister in law's advice necessarily, just thinking that the order of advisors should make sense.

I enjoyed taking a Sabbath today—it was much needed, but now it’s time to switch gears and focus.

It’s time to get started on the new week. Daily homeschool assignments for each curriculum need to be added to DS17’s calendar. Tomorrow is DD14’s first appointment with a new doctor for autism evaluation and testing. I still need to finish filling out the 20+ documents required for that appointment.

I neglected to say that I listened to online "preaching" today, perhaps I'm calling it that to distinguish from a service of worship. An informal lecture. Still found much on which to take notes and try to remember, so I'm glad I did, but missed having music.

Will do, Harriet... but... as you might imagine, I have NOT set myself up for a "perfect day" tonight. SMH...
While watching the news (10:00) I remembered that I had not put away groceries...
so I did that.
And took my allergy shots.
And washed the few dishes that had been in the sink for days.
And I did exercise.

I did not shower. There is just something about getting in the shower late at night that I push back against. I have never seen the movie Psycho, but the previews completely freaked me out at an early age.

I did not have to teach Sunday School; only one child showed up, and her dgmother was keeping the nursery. She opted to stay in the nursery and do her homework, because she had missed a couple days last week on a school trip to Dollywood. (DGS says our governor has made it against the law to require students to make up work missed on school-sanctioned trips, but whatever. This little girl would probably opt to do it whether she had to or not.)
DGS stayed home (at my house) and reportedly still does not feel well tonight. I talked to him earlier, after I had taken him home. I hope he will be able to go to school tomorrow, because I know he doesn't want to miss his ballgame tomorrow. (He expects they will win, based on what he knows about the other team.)
He and I both napped awhile this afternoon -- I had a terrible time getting to sleep last night. I was still awake at 4:30 a.m.!

I've just felt kinda "low" the last few days... sorta that "lonely even though others are around" kind of feeling. I know that's just part of it. Probably the constant coverage of Charlie Kirk's death has not been exactly uplifting for me.

Oh boy, I don't envy you the 20+ documents, LadyM. I always hate when I have to fill out all those forms for dmom. That is one of the main reasons she asks me to go with her for new doctor appointments. She has a tremor that causes her problems with writing sometimes. I hope everything goes well with DD and the new doctor.

I love what you said about blessed's * current * sister-in-law, Harriet. Very true. And like Twins, I wish we could all just give you a big hug, blessed. I am glad to hear your dmom had a good day -- sounds like she was eating well and feeling better.

Oh my goodness, Twins, the brownies sound AMAZING. Almost worth the drive to get them! LOL -- I guess you're glad I get so sleepy driving!

Making cookies may be on my list for tomorrow, actually. I wanted to make DS some cookies after his surgery, but wanted to wait until he was able to eat without pain.

That interesting, that your herbs keep the mosquitos away, Nancy. That's great.

Mystery, I'd feel the same about the picnic. I do NOT enjoy heat either.

So -- I'm watching the Pawn Shop guys on tv. DH and I used to always watch on Sunday nights. I need to do my bedtime routine -- brush teeth/do meds, etc, and I'm going to get my planner set up for the week. Busy week ahead --
IF Dgs (and dgd) feel like going to the ballgame, that will take up tomorrow night.
DDIL said something about doing my birthday celebration on Tuesday. It will be last minute for all of us, but... whatever. I am not involving myself in this, inviting people to come to my house and give me presents. It just doesn't seem right. DDIL and DS can take care of all that. I told them I don't even have to have a party.
Wednesday is church, teaching that class (and the book we're using is NOT very good, BTW.)
Thursday I have an appt with the retina specialist. DS will take me, because they will dilate my pupils. It's just a yearly checkup; I'm not having problems that I know of.
Then Friday, I plan for dgd and I to go to high school homecoming game and both dgrands will be probably spending Friday and Saturday nights with me -- ddil is working and DS out of town. OH -- and Friday is Constitution Day parade at elementary school.

Also, I'm feeling kinda stupid for buying that crock pot. I still have not used it. Why do I need a crock pot when I'm all by myself? Obviously, I imagine myself to be a very different sort of person than I am in reality. Maybe I'll cook something for the dgrands when they're both here this weekend.
