Kittykatt, sounds like you have some pretty items on display inside and a lovely garden to enjoy outside. Are your roses in differing colors or a color theme?

Hi peaches.

Trissie, good luck with new foods. I have a 21 yo who still prefers chicken nuggets over anything else lol. People have to be notified of a death here too, if they can’t be located an ad in the newspaper will suffice. At least it did for us, according to the attorney. Idk who would read a newspaper to see it though.

trissie, my brother has explicitly been written out of my parents' wills. I saw my mom's - and it very clearly states so. (He became addicted to drugs and violent. my mom was scared of him and possibly was also trying to protect my brother + niece and my and my family from him by keeping him out of the will completely.) After my father's passing, the lawyer ran a note/ message somewhere (paper?), and he had 6 months to appear and file a complaint or whatever. My brother didn't appear. I expect the same thing will happen again now that my mother has passed.

Helia, over here you can leave your estate however you wish. But is someone wants to do gerot someone who might reasonable be expected to inherit a shared, the. They are advised to include a sentence (in formal legal language) stating their reasons why. I'm sorry you're having to deal with all this on top of losing your DMum.

Bama, my roses are mostly shades of pink and white - I wanted everything to be very soft and romantic and reminiscent of a cottage garden. I do have a couple.of yellows in the front garden - one DH chose, and the other is a climbing rose with a very restrained habit that I wanted for outside the front door (it responds well to bring pruned as a bush rose  )

On the subject of obituaries in the local newspaper, I do have some elderly friends who read them each week...mainly to see who they e outlived ("I saw in the paper that X had passed away. A mere youngster at only 87!!!") And also, on a more practical note, to see if there's someone who they can cross.of the Christmas card list, especially as postal is now so expensive!l ( DF E 99 said to me last week that she was crossing off everyone older than her u less she had heard from them in the past year or so, "as they're probably dead by now!")

And on that cheerful note, I shall say good night to everyone! :D

Kitty, I actually don't have to deal with the issue of my older brother. The lawyer will do what she is required to do by law as she did with my father's will. And since everything now goes to the trust, I don't need to worry about that either. I wonder if my parents set up the trust to protect my brother and me. Well, I believe more and more that death is the start of a new kind of life! I guess we'll each find out some day. :)

I think it might be easier to disinherit a person here than in many European countries. Dh has told me about laws in the Netherlands, and it's also more difficult to do that (maybe impossible?) there than here.

trissie, thanks for sharing yoru family dynamics. You are establishing a family of your own where your children all feel valued, and your descendants will have a better past to remember.

this has sat here for quite a while, I was going to tell you about my noon with mother, but now it's time to go back.

I ate a cold, loaded baked potato, while talkign to my dsis3 and dcousin about mother's issues. I am aware that when people are dying they often refuses food, and have no appetite. But right now we are treating this as an after effect of covid, and as such, an infection that, with supportive care, she can overcome. Last night mom was OK, today she either couldn't tell the difference between cold, pain, and fatigue, or she had all 3 at once.
10 more minutes of watering, then I will change clothes (again) and head back to her to work on feeding her supper.
