Homeschool is done for today and the next 10 days. WhoooooHOOOO!!!

While driving DD14 to school this morning she remembered that she needed me to sign a permission slip for her to go on a field trip. She pulled the paper out of her backpack and I quickly signed it. It required $10 admission which I didn't have cash with me. DD14 said she had cash in her wallet and would pay. The last 2 tasks I have to do before fall break starts is to pick DD14 up from school and give her the $10.

The table that was cleared off I put Cmas greenery in baskets,
and some ribbons for bows to go on a wreath later.
Cleared a couple of shelves off & dusted em then moved the baskets to fold duds.
Picked more toms. to ripen inside b/c of frost danger in mtns. this weekend.

Marched around the basement singing hymns just just for fun encouragement and hope!
Swept the laundry zone.
Swept the stairs to the basement.
Last load of laundry for the day is folded and put away.

Not doing the sheets today rain this weekend a great idea for then.

Deer found my one tom. it was not doing so hot anyway I pruned off the branches with no leaves.

Good afternoon! I hope everyone has been having a good week! This post is likely to be short (at least for me) and might end abruptly, as I have to leave for the doctor’s in a short while.

I have my annual CPAP checkup today, down at the hospital main campus. I also have an online appointment with the nutritionist this afternoon. I tried to reschedule but got lost in the system or something. Finally sent a message off to the nutritionist herself; if all goes as planned, I can make it, but if things don’t…. So the nutritionist got back to me and says she will wait a while for me. This should work.

I finally did get the chimney swept. The sweep says it’s not up to modern code, but it should be safe. (But since it’s not up to code, I bear all liability if I use it.) He did give instructions as to how it could be brought up to code: install some sort of panel to decrease the effective opening, have the flue smoothed out, and put up glass doors. I’m unlikely to do those; I’m just grateful to know my house isn’t going to burn down any second. Unlike Harriet, I got more work done while he was here. Well, different work anyway. I wanted to stay nearby but be out of the way, so I washed every dish that needed it instead of putting wash in.

There goes my alarm! Gotta go!

Went to CUOP and my post was “gone.” Never sent it before I went. Back from Sleep Medicine in time for Nutrition. Will peek in after that.

I'm sitting yawning in my chair, as it's nearly 9 pm. It's been a good day with church and picking up Matilda's new wet food from the vet this morning . She likes her new prescription dried food, so I'm optimistic she will like this in one too. Ive also hoovered the car and finished cleaning the kitchen (leftover from yesterday evening, when Dnextdoorneighbour D had a problem with her water, and by the time I'd filled water bottles for her and her family and offered the use of our bathroom, it was too late to finish.

DH is back from his work trip, and the cars are all very happy!

Good, Kittykatt! lol My 2 are happy, too, but since this was their week for service and the truck needed some work (2005), my wallet is less pleased! Glad to be heading into winter with certainty that pros have passed on them, tho'.

Mystery, I'm sure you feel that way about your chimney. Glad to have pros pass on the safety and sturdiness of things when winter is coming.

Our chimney has not had a problem since the work was done, but then we haven't had a sideways-blowing storm since then, and that was a test we were supposed to monitor. So the jury may still be out.

blessed, that is all so interesting. To "extract pollutants" from water sounds like a cause for some excitement, doesn't it? Yes, the humbleness and the surprise while winners are doing ordinary things in life like the fellow hiking, makes you smile. I remember it was quite a cap to the ten-year run of Big Bang Theory when Sheldon and Amy shared a prize and Sheldon had become mature enough to give credit to others and thank them. He'd spent his researching life warning others that they would get no mention when he inevitably won, lol.

Grocery shopping was a success. Breakables safely back in cabinetry. Houseplants cared for. With just a little more ironing and storing, fabric organization hits a success, too. (You're never really perfect with it.)

Have been learning about the Michael's store-within-a-store starting to happen with the "dual branding" of JoAnne's and Michael's products. "The Knit and Sew Shop" happening in 800 or so North American stores now but hitting a thousand of them within a month or two. They've contracted with Gütermann® threads now, so that sends a message that they are being taken seriously by brands. Of course, you never know the quality of fabric and yarns until they stock. Big online presence, which will be a shot in the arm for folks far from stores, who used to depend on JoAnne's before the closings.

Oooh, I need to read about the Michaels stuff, Harriet. My current frustration with Michaels is their pegboard system, which is sold out apparently. And I keep getting texts with coupons but if they don't have what I want it's worthless.

For that matter, I'm only "considering" replacing some of my crafty storage with a pegboard. I'll go over to arts/crafts perhaps to talk about that...

I'm trying to install a new printer upstairs. I finally gave up on taking the old one up here apart and getting it working. It tended to jam a lot anyway and it was so difficult to get it going again. I only need it for printing genealogy things up here, or scanning up here. I can not for the life of me figure out how to get the panel moved so I can install cartridges...It's connected to Wi fi, etc. and shows pulling up on a handle, but it doesn't open. I don't want to force it....

I had a decent workout - was tired and would like to get in bed with the dog soon. I made a card this afternoon - actually been messing with it for several days but indecision has been real lately.

Correcting myself to thank TWINS for the wisdom that new church affiliation might help with obtaining new pastor.

I have also had to correct myself today re: death notice I received via daunt. Whereas she called this morning to ask if I had heard that Jane JONES had passed, it turned out to be Jane JOHNSON -- names are changed here of course, but you can imagine the similarity of the names. Combined with the confusion that she thought this was the sister of a lady known to me, who was married to JONES... this led to much misinformation. I told dmom and Dfriend about this, and had to call them to correct myself earlier tonight, after I saw obituary online. Sigh. Dmom said I should never pass on info from daunt without double checking, which sadly, is true.
I hope that daunt does not need me to go to this service. The deceased is related to us, but not closely enough that I remember ever meeting her. I did know her sister, who passed away earlier this year.

Then daunt called me back to tell me my cousin/her son's mother-in-law had passed away earlier today. I will have to go to that service, and I certainly hope it will not be Saturday -- not for myself, but because cousin's son has spent $350 on tickets to College Town game this weekend. He might not be inclined to go anyway, considering that his grandmother has passed away, but he has certainly spent a lot of money to make this trip, a long with his girlfriend's brother who also spent $350.

Anyway, my day has been very UNproductive, except I did manage to get to the bank and sign one more signature card for the church.
Ha -- I do not see myself moving my membership anytime soon. SMH...
I have lain on the couch most of the day and played on my phone. Some days are diamonds; some days are stone.

DGS, who was sick yesterday evening, has felt fine today and went to football practice. DS called tonight, trying to locate dgs' belt. Tomorrow, dgs is supposed to wear a red shirt and khaki pants, will attend the high school pep rally, and will get to eat the pre-game meal and dress with the varsity team for the first time. Now... as I've told y'all, wearing the uniform and going through warm ups is about the extent of dgs' participation... but DS reminded me, he will be making history. DGS will be the first 4th generation to be a member of our high school varsity team. DFIL, DH, DS, and DGS have all been members of our high school team, and a local sports writer pointed this out to DS when he first saw DGS was playing on the junior team.
That seems unlikely, but as DS pointed out, there are very few 4th generations even within our church congregation -- people move away, their children go to different schools... the likelihood of having boys who want to play football in four generations is unusual.
It probably sounds silly to most people, but ds said, "Don't you know Daddy and Granddaddy would be proud?" I just have to tell myself they will have the best seats in the house tomorrow.

Dmom was having a rough day this morning and again wanted to move to assisted living... but by tonight, she was doing laundry and seemed to be okay. She did mention IF she didn't move in with me or my brother, she would have to go to asst living, but then I got to considering... I will have to have a ramp built and a shower re-done and probably other things before I could move her in here. I hope she gets over this mood soon. She is still out walking most mornings, driving, doing her own shopping, etc.

I loved the finale of BBT, Harriet, but even more I loved the episode of Young Sheldon when Sheldon had a Nobel Prize listening party and no one came. He thought he would never find people who understood him, and then the scene shifted to all the BBT people as children -- Raj in India, one of the girls sleeping in her bedroom surrounded by beauty queen crowns and ribbons -- it just made me cry.
I don't even understand what these current winners are doing, LOL... but that is funny that the first one blessed mentioned thought his wife had encountered a bear!

I'm just catching up on recorded programs on the DVR. This has certainly been a short week for me. I can't believe tomorrow is Friday. I'd say the whole week has been unproductive.
