Imagine Freddie waiting patiently while Matilda and Jude were the ones traumatising the populace. That is some slick strategy, Freddie.

Playing it by ear works for me, L.Ann. I find that whatever I say I'm going to do, I usually end up working on something else.
I hope that the appointment at Hopkins goes well.

You're right, Harriet. Enquiring minds still don't know the fate of the draught extenders.

Lots to celebrate there, Lauralind. It is particulary enheartening to hear about your DS15's progress. (((Hugs))) to your dparents.

I did get lots of sleep, trissie, and feel ready to take on the day. I'm sorry about the headache. You don't get the chance to lie down with a pill, with the demands of family life. I'm glad to hear that it is lifting, now that you are away from the cause.

helia, we are all primed to celebrate with you when you get the good news.

Woo hoo on another payroll weed over, FrenchFly! I once said to a coworker on a Monday, "You have just had two days to spend any way that you want. How could you possibly not have a good weekend?" He gave me a long look and answered "You've never been married, have you?"
Here's hoping that you find some time to spend on the fun stuff in between all of your home duties.

I did actually lie down, Dogged, without the pill, and slept for about 30 minutes, and now my afternoon/evening is totally off :-)
Frenchie, I kinda feel like the fashion is less and less flattering!
helia, your family functions very differently from ours - I cringe inwardly at the thought of my mother in law operating freely in my house! Or pretty much even my mother, to say the truth :-)

So, DBD is cutting Halloween cookies and taking her sweet time :-) I really need to get started on dinner, but our kitchen is too small to do that with the cookie cutting, so guess we'll just eat late tonight. DH is not home yet anyway - he was supposed to buy a new table lamp for DS, though I have no idea why that means he's 45 minutes late already (his office building is like 75 yards from a hardware/home improvement store, so he gets these errands done on his way to his car)

TaDas
- afternoon routine
- 30 on processing grapes
- bake cookies with DBD

ToDos
- dinner
- juice those grapes
- 15 on laundry

Braindump

cleaning
- spiff up twins' room
- spiff up DBD's room
- spiff up DS13's room
- spiff up master bedroom
- spiff up master bathroom
laundry
- ironing
- folding
- mending
- laundry put away
me time
- 15 of exercise
- Bible study
- reading
garden
- decide where and which bulbs to plant
- hopefully plant some

She is here! :D 8-) I and F are doing well, ds says. I's stats at 36 weeks are great: 6 pounds 1 ounce and 19.5 inches long. That's really long for 4 weeks early! Maybe she'll be tall like ds? He says the breastfeeding is going well so far. I've spent some time sharing the news and some pics with friends and family. I've also done my back exercises and s2sed. I think the grocery store is next; I'm hungry, though, so I just had some cereal.

We'll go visit when ds says that's OK.

Thank you Kitty! But what about the draught excluders?
trissie, I hope F isn't cringing. We're not doing much. We're planning to cook meals tonight and tomorrow night, and Sh, F's mom, can join us if she wants. Not sure how else to navigate meals - I don't want to be going to restaurants a lot. I'm planning on making enough white chicken chili that we can freeze a batch to put in ds+F's freezer. That freezes well.
Safe travels, L Ann.
Happy for you for another weekend with no payroll and more time with your family, FFB.
What are you working on Doggedly?

Dh is in his 3rd hour of work meetings on zoom today. When he's done, we'll go get groceries, I think.

Next:
- grocery store
- put away groceries
- go to the hospital when we can

Later:
- grocery run - it looks like it is open!
- put food away
- remember to feed cats around lunch?
- drive 40? or so minutes to the hospital
- visit F and I (grandbaby)
- dinner with Sh: pasta, tom. sauce, green salad
- after dinner clean up
- feed cats after dinner
- duolingo
- update health apps

TaDas!
- coffee and charging phone with dh's tech
- payroll: graded HW2
- payroll: tweaked lesson for D5 to include review of Wednesday's lesson
- email deletions; weather website - rainy and a high of 58*
- with dh, emptied dish drainer; washed some random dishes not in the dw
- emptied garbage and recycling
- made grocery list
- back exercises
- s2s and self care
- flurry of messages to let family and friends know
- hungry so eating a sandwich and some cereal - not low cal

helia congrats to the new mom, welcome to baby I, and what are you supposed to say to a new grandmother... Anyway, great news ! I'm like trissie I wouldn't want anyone to empty my garbage or fill my fridge, especially not MrNG's mother... but on those first days with a baby, I think any help is welcome - you always get to see the InLaws when the baby arrives anyway, so they might as well shop, cook a bit and freeze some meals ! :D

trissie I hope the cookies are now in the oven and you were able to start dinner. Oh and I see what you mean about after work time not being the best time to get things done especially at the end of the week. From what I notice, short nights make for difficult evenings the day after. With your very short nights this might explain why you can do after-work stuff better at the beginning of the week than on a Friday ? Depending on how much energy I have left in my body -not in my brain- I can be productive for an hour or two... or be a mean-tempered tornado and then MrNG will take over and ask me to kindly go and have some quiet time on my own.

Doggedly weekends are not always restful, that is true. Either it's your spouse or kids or pets, you can't exactly do anything you want the way you want. I remember when DS7 was born and DS8 was still under 3yo, MrNG was actually *happy* to go to work on Monday, after a whole weekend of watching over toddlers and helping me with house chores and short nights and no time to think quietly...

Well I didn't do as much as I had wanted. The house is a mess after this weird week of MrNG leaving earlier than me, me taking the kids to their separate daycare places, then full payroll day, then driving home and getting the kids back home and starting dinner with a kitchen that was left dirty and cluttered from breakfast and clothes that no-one had time to put away or even fold, and indoors drying laundry because of the rainy + windy weather, and, and, and...
So well, preparing dinner while cleaning up leftover breakfast items and putting away groceries at the same time, was not within my abilities tonight. MrNG helped. He's now cleaning up in the kitchen, I'm in bed eating chocolate which is very rare and surely the sign that the week was hard on me. I still need to read bedtime stories, and handwash some payroll clothes, and before bed self-care.
Have a peaceful evening and night, everyone !

TADAs
groceries partly put away, some clothes folded
started dinner (bolognese sauce, one pot vegetarian, one pot with meat)
started to handwash payroll clothing
