Scanning the Horizon Saturday

Okay. Was up late watching a series #3 is out.
Slow on my tasks today I did have done a few things
bfast & journals / planning.
SO glad I did my BWP yesterday.
Most of the d's earlier in the week helps.

Our horizon today....
Of & on rain in our forecast here. 47* /57* F. clouds.

Did a short walk with ddoggo.

We got our sunrise morning in

Folded 2 loads of laundry with on more to go…it’s in the dryer.

Had other things planned however Sweetie has been very confused today so I’m just hanging around which helps with his stress.

I started a post this a.m. right after Harriet opened up but had to hurry out of the house before I finished...

Perfect timing, Harriet. I was just heading to PWYC when there you were! Thanks for getting us started!

One thing on the horizon - a week from now - is that the time changes and we get back that hour of sleep we lost last March.

On the horizon also, not quite as far out, is Halloween on Friday night.

On the immediate horizon is today.

We have been to friends' home on the river, not A and V but another couple. There was a paddling race on the river today that went by this morning, lots of lie down paddle boards, stand up paddleboards, kayaks and other paddled boats...We took fruit for brunch, they have a beautiful yard on the river with decks and a fire pit.

Tonight we're going to a wedding. Right now I'm taking a nap to try to rid my head of some of the "socialization."

The ice cream place where I get our ice cream is "closing for the season" as of tomorrow, so I went there today to get some to stock up for the next 5 months until they re-open again. It's a 20 minute drive away on the highway heading towards Niagara Falls. The area is called "Niagara on the Lake" and it's where the Niagara river comes out in to Lake Ontario. It's a very touristy area.

Other than that, I haven't done anything.

I have to empty the dw of the cleaned dishes.

put away extras from laundry room - on the shelves in the garage.
finished my chapter for my book club.
lunch had
tossed seeds from this year and last seed container now on garden shelf in garage - make a 3 x5 card to buy new seeds in January
ordered a christmas gift - dd older told dd younger that she loved dd Youngers top. now ordered.

I still need to plant my garlic
I feel like taking a rest.

I am making butter chicken for supper. The house smells amazing. (one of the ingredients was tumeric) I will be making Jasmine rice and using up the rest of a broccoli crown mixed in to the rice.

I'm late arriving but not because this isn't high on my priorities. This SHE village is vital to me and I feel lost when i can't connect with SHE friends.

Life is full and blessed.

After completing our usual morning tasks, including washing hair, we headed to the city to meet DGS28.

We visited a frontier exhibit featuring live, hands-on activities. It was the grand opening, celebrating years of effort to reconstruct the trading post exactly as it originally was. The event included demonstrations on transportation and mule packing, frontier cooking, fur trade firearms, blacksmithing, trapping, Plains culture, and history. The amount of detail they put into this effort was impressive.

We had a meal at Texas Roadhouse where I enjoyed salmon, chili, and salad. Others ordered chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, salad, steak, and steak fries. I’m not usually a fan of eating out, but it was alright. What I truly loved was spending time chatting with DGS28 and catching up on his life.

DGS28 has shed over 100 pounds in the past few months by making his health a top priority. He started running two miles every morning before work, tracking his meals in Cronometer, and limiting himself to 2400 calories a day. Later, he joined a gym and began lifting weights four days a week. The transformation is incredible. At 6'6" with broad shoulders, he’ll never be a small person, but his goal is to reach 15% body fat to see how his physique looks with minimal fat.

After we finished eating, we all went to Sam's to restock the pantry and freezer. $160 later, the task was done. Everything has been unloaded and put away.

The wildlife guy and his wife came by to check the gopher and mole traps, and they managed to catch one of each! Catching a mole is notoriously tough, even for professional trappers. They mentioned that the only real way to eliminate moles is by using poison, but I’m not keen on that since it’s so close to my garden. Anyway, we all agreed this effort has been a success, with two gophers and one mole removed from my garden area. The total cost for that effort was $155, which covered over a dozen trips to check traps each day. Considering the gas for constant travel, the cost of traps, and their time, it’s hard to see how they made any profit from this.

Glad to see you here, LadyM. Wonderful news about dgs28 and I'm glad you've had a fulfilling family day.

We're ready to head out to the wedding soon. It's at six and we're going to stop to pick up a script on the way. Hate to go into CVS in dress clothes but it is what it is.

Lunch with the gals DD Dgds & new gdil. Was good and fun...
I want to the thrift shop after and got a big letter N to hang up after I paint & decorate it and put the rest of the
letters to my name on it and some flowers too possibly!

Hosed off the truck. Walked some more with ddoggo.

Rain is coming down in sheets now.

CI / about Dgd her ribs are still sore. She has to remember that she cannot lift her book school bag,
her PC is at the top end limit or her #4 lb. weight restriction.
