trissie ~ thanks for starting us off! I've been to Miramar beach - WAY back when. Have not made it to Australia ~ maybe some day. Re: the unicorn/kids/babyishness. Li'l H toggles back and forth between babyish and adultish. She's very smart and has somehow been instilled with wisdom from her mom & dad. She's very conversational with adults but loves playing with younger kids, as well. A favorite story is that parents are amazed that boys actually listen to her and does what she says. I might get her the unicorn just to see her laugh at it.

Frenchi ~ sounds like a nice outing. Glad you were able to escape the rain. Just that it made Ds9 happy makes it worth the effort.
L.Ann ~ Not sure if kids are off here. If they are, I'm sure the families that are able are hauling their kids outside today for some sledding. Snow doesn't usually last very long around here, so you gotta get out quick! It's pretty cold, so they probably won't be out too long.


It was a shocker to wake up yesterday morning to find a good blanket of snow on the ground. It's been a long time since we've had snow before Thanksgiving. Stayed hunkered down here and I did some batch cooking. Because of the snow, G cancelled his NC trip till tomorrow. Tonight - basketball game. We're happy the neighbors are riding with us, as they don't have parking passes and in their 80's.

I'm getting a very slow roll of a start, but I'm going. QT is done. Did a little desk work. Next up - exercise - or maybe make G's lunch salad. He hasn't been feeling great, so I've been pitching in on his "stuff." He got diagnosed with a hernia last week. It's been going on for several months and now we finally know what it is. He was quite concerned. The possibility of colon cancer was lurking in the back of his mind. Doc figure that the hole probably got bigger and/or his colon lost fat during his weight loss. It's quite uncomfortable but he's trying to manage it till the surgery date in January.

Off to start up some flybys.

Good afternoon, all. I am off to a slow start. It is Remembrance Day in Canada, and I was following the ceremony on TV.

Trissie, thank you for starting us off. Turquoise Beach sounds very beautiful.

Kittykatt, I am glad that Freddie claimed no lives in his quest for medication. He definitely deserved his trip to the food cupboard. Germane wants him to know that if he manages his people properly, he can get treats for simply going to the bathroom. Her human seems to place a weirdly high value on this activity.

FrenchFly, our wreaths are green branches with plastic poppies. Leading up to Remembrance Day we buy plastic poppies from the Canadian Legion (veterans' association). The poppies are held on to our coats with a straight pin that is known for its exceptional stabbiness, so that we honour our veterans' sacrifice by bleeding along with them. Or such is the assumption of the Canadian public.
The ceremony was very moving, and I confess that I gave up holding back tears when they quoted from For The Fallen. What did your DS7 think of the ceremony?

Back to mundane things. There are lots and lots of activities to choose from, such as laundry, brushing off the car, tidying, washing the floor where Germane walks around dropping her foot, and other such entertainments.

L.Ann, I wonder if the poppies are more of a Commonwealth sign of respect, as In Flanders Fields was written by a Canadian?

Our schools are in session but hold a ceremony and invite veterans to attend. It’s all very nice, high school band and rotc participate, a large screen of photos then/now are shown on loop, refreshments served.
