DD14 successfully made meatloaf although she did have some sensory issues when combining all the ingredients. Chicken & vegetable soup is made to my personal preferences. Chicken breast tenderloins have been cooked in butter & bbq sauce which carmalizes and coats the outside of the portions. This is a family favorite. I didn't do the instant pot potatoes because I only found 4 potatoes in the pantry. i'll do instant potatoes instead. ANYway.....the teens won't starve today. Maybe tomorrow.......
I might have found what is causing me to feel bad....headache, muscle aches like the flu, low energy. Four days ago I started taking OTC Red Rice Yeast. I thought it didn't have side effects like prescription cholesterol meds. Apparently, my body is insisting on keeping my cholesterol high by having a reaction to ever kind of meds I try to lower it. I'm going to quit taking RRY and see if the aches and pains go away. My family doctor is not going to be thrilled to learn I quit taking the meds he prescribed and the OTC alternative I tried.

I know what I'm making for tomorrow night's supper. Chili! I didn't realize that the Grey Cup (CFL's equivalent to the S Bowl) is tomorrow, so chili is on the menu. I even bought a bag of corn chips.
Tonight dh has requested ramen, so I will also fry up a huge pork chop to go with it. Dh has also requested less veggies in the ramen. I julienne most of a carrot, plus an onion gets thinly sliced and broccoli also goes in. I told him that I have half a broccoli crown to use up. I asked if he wanted less onion or less carrot and he said to use just one onion. (I always use one onion.)
It's very overcast here today.

Our walk was great today luv the many shades of yellow of leaves as they fall.
More clean up happened.
Soup is in jars and cooling.
I washed up my bowl from soup I had for lunch.
Rolls are bagged up as they cool and await the freezer.
-----
Not enough leaves to rake up.
Rolls are in the freezer.
Soup is in the fridge.
Got the last of the jars out of the shed.
Mower is in the shed.
Got an empty box out of the shed too.
Working on getting the clean dishes put away most are in the cupboard now.
Decided not to do the pumpkin sweet bread today bc
I ran out of seam.\
Got the trash dumped. yea \**/

It is sunny & 92F today. Normally this is my favorite type of weather, but I find myself being cranky because it is hot.
DS17 sold one of the vehicles (van) so now he is down to only having two vehicles for sale in our front yard by the road. He was excited telling about a couple more vehicles he found for a sweet deal. Our question to him was...."Where are you going to store these vehicles?" He had already considered that and instantly had an answer.

Re: Frolic Saturday November 15, 2025
Today was the first women's breakfast for our church. We are hoping to make this monthly event. So that was one frolic for today.
Afterwards, I went to the garden centre to get my long handled shears sharpened, and to pick up a few Christmas gifts. A.d that was another frolic
I've tested out my shears in the garden, and they're a definite improvement. Indoors Ive decluttered and cleaned another two drawers .
Cathy, your cross stitch is very pretty! I have a very old half finished piece of embroidery... somewhere I need to get it out again.
Harriet, I'm looking for an upright freezer that fits under the worktop . There's only two of us, so we don't really need a huge freezer !
Lady M, about 18 months ago I changed my breakfast to Greek yogurt (the real thing, not "Greek style"), a good handful each of blueberries and raspberries, a banana and a few oats and nuts sprinkled on top. Apart from reducing sugar in the rest of my diet (I do t eat artificial sweeteners, so it was a case of getting used to things being less sweet!) , that was the only change I made to my diet. The result at my latest blood test was: overall cholesterol the same, but the HDL (" good" type) had significantly increased , and the LDL (" bad" type ) had significantly decreased. I have no idea of the science behind it, but I'm sure there must be an explanation.

Re: Frolic Saturday November 15, 2025
Hello, frolicking folks!
I awakened naturally at 5:15 this morning, and, realizing that I would probably need a nap but that wouldn't be unusual, I decided to hop up then and just plan on the nap.
What I would like, is to find a 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. day-schedule, or 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., and make it consistent. But it eludes me. As long as naps are demanding, I keep getting off track, and of course the strangely early mornings for medical stuff doesn't help. Hoping that's over, for the most part. I don't have a problem with being IN bed for 8 hours, but I do have a problem with making those hours conform to the schedule I choose.
I got busy on the house and set many things to rights, from dealing with accumulated mail to lightly catching up with cards to kitchen spif. We have eaten relatively well today, and eaten together, but I'll be finishing up with my own smoothie, probably, in the next little while. Wish I had sprouts ready, but haven't felt up to getting that done, and it's okay - collards, romaine and kale are in the fridge. The gastro-doc talked to me about diet yesterday in recovery and said do keep up my usual of lots of whole foods.
Called ddil to have her think with me about the best time to have dgdC spend time here and help decorate tree and house. No rush, except that I don't want to wait until a collision between school bugs and dr's orders about seasonal susceptibility for me. Ddil will have a handle on what bugs are causing trouble or coming along soon.

Nancy, to be sewing while you have bread rising in the kitchen - that's a good day.
blessed, you are so ahead of me on planning presents and such. Did you find a good baby shower card?
Twins', great detective work if you found a significant piece of info plus proof of family Bible's existence. I'd say that was a worthwhile trip.
Kittykatt, yep, that's what I think we need, too. My dmother always complained about her chest freezer, that you couldn't put anything above it, even shelves of much depth. I realize cold stays down, so that's the science behind a chest as opposed to a door opening the full height, but it will be opened so rarely. Yes, just two people, not a big family anyway.
Ddil says although we are free from viruses right now, late December through mid-February is looking very likely as a rough contagion time, for sure. She thinks the earlier the better for me to have long visits with the grands, and so we actually decided on tomorrow! Yikes, better get ready.
DgdC will come after church and a quick lunch, and help decorate tree and LR with me and her grandpa while her folks take her big brother back for the youth group events. (We need Grandpa to get down all the high boxes!) Her mother says, "Decorating is her JAM!" lol
This will be the earliest I have decorated a tree, ever, especially since I've only had an artificial one for a couple years. But I'm grateful to have a head start since I am not speedy. With this done, I can focus on addressing and writing cards and be ahead on that, too.

Re: Frolic Saturday November 15, 2025
My dmom and dgrandmother always had chest freezers when I was growing up. I remember dmom defrosting ours -- an all day process that involved closing the garage doors, putting everything in a pile with quilts over it, and her doing whatever she did... smh... Of course, in those days, my dgf always killed a cow each year and we had beef to fill it up, and my parents and both sets of grandparents had large gardens, so there were lots of frozen vegetables. She also canned a lot of vegetables as well.
Today, she and I both have only the freezer over our refrigerators (although she does have two refrigerators; one in the garage.)
I bet Nancy's bread smells delicious!!!
I have bought a few Christmas presents, but will resort to $ for much of ds and ddil's gift, and probably will end up giving dbil, dniece, and dnephew $ too. They are sooo hard to buy for!
And while we are speaking of buying... WHEN WILL I LEARN??? Do y'all remember when I promised dh I would not buy anything else I saw on FB???
WHEN WILL I LEARN???
So. I bought those stupid seat-gap fillers that do NOT fit and when I tried to return them, they convinced me that the return shipping would be expensive; I could keep them and they would send a 50% refund.
Now I have purchased a Lange' curling iron at a greatly reduced price "early Black Friday" sort of deal. It came in today and I tried it out just now and I don't think it is going to work. They have a 60 day return policy, but I know they will likely give me trouble re: full refund as well. AND when looking at their FB page for tips on usage... the first thing I see is a beautician warning people not to use it because she sees repeated customers with broken, damaged hair from this particular brand!
To top things off, I purchased tonight, a rather expensive bra, which promises wireless support for "mature" ladies. Now, I'll be honest, I am no more than a B cup at best, but I do think my Wmart bras could be improved upon, and at least this brand is carried by Belk, so I know it is not some cheap crazy knockoff. (Shapermint)
I am going to end up like dmom's friend, who lived alone and said she was on first-name basis with the UPS man.
She was in poor health, however, and had no children. (She has passed away. She's the one who was married briefly to OG.) Surely I can do better than that.
I am also having buyer's remorse re: dmom's gift -- the full-body heat/massage pad, as advertised on tv. I bought it from A-river so I feel much better re: returns. BUT I'm now thinking it will just reinforce her tendency to be inactive, which greatly concerns dbro. (Of course, it doesn't concern him enough to bring him home more than once or twice a year.) OTOH, I'm thinking, if the only time she is pain-free is when she is lying on a heating pad, then at 80 years old, she should be allowed to lie on a heating pad.
Sheesh. The only thing I've bought that I'm proud of is a Lenox Chistmas ornament, half-price during Prime Days, for my dbil and dsisil. It is Mickey and Minnie in wedding garb, and I wrote their names and wedding date on the bottom of it.
I also found Bible socks for ds, dnephew, and dgs, which have the verse dmil used to quote to them almost every time they left her house: "Delight thyself in the Lord and lean not unto your own understanding..."
Boy. I wish I could quit leaning unto MY own understanding!
Twins -- WTG! (Have I told you dmil has two Bibles with two different wedding dates in them? SMH again...)
DGD here is looking forward to helping me decorate the weekend after Thanksgiving, while her parents and dbro are gone to College Town.
BTW -- LadyM -- your Sooners made dgs and me very happy today!
They FROLICKED a lot. (They are probably still frolicking!)
Harriet, I've noticed a LOT of people are decorating early this year. Several trees are already up in windows here in Tiny Town, including both my across the road neighbors.
Rose, I have always told dmom I would love to sleep on her screened porch. I may have to try that (maybe next spring?) It is supposed to be 70 degrees tomorrow, but our nights are getting cooler; that's for certain!
Kitty, I was just wondering today where I could get an axe sharpened. NO -- I'M NOT PLANNING VIOLENCE ON ANYONE!!! There are small trees that block the view as I am pulling out of my driveway -- these are cedar trees that have grown up in the fence row, and I am sick of them. I was just wondering if I would be able to chop them down.
My cholesterol has been creeping up, and dmom pointed out that when a cousin ran a Cajun restaurant in town, my cholesterol was amazingly good. This was because dh and I ate there at least once a week, and I ate a lot of grilled (blackened) fish and salad. I'm trying to get back into that habit. Cousins closed their restaurant, but local steakhouse has a delicious blackened catfish filet, and they make a very good salad.
* I hope you can find some solution that you can tolerate to get yours to a level the doctor will be satisfied with, LadyM.
I have to say, Cathy's chili sounds awfully good too! Mmmmm... my dmom makes good chili. I need to get her recipe and use that crockpot some more.
I'd probably have sensory issues mixing up meatloaf too. (I've never made meatloaf. I don't think dh cared for it very much, but I do like my dmom's meatloaf.)
I am always smiling at LadyM's ds' business sense.
Well, I guess I've talked enough. It's approaching midnight and I want to get a shower and wash my hair before I get in bed. See y'all tomorrow.

I think I would be more pleased with myself if I got my 8 hours from 1:00 a.m. till 9:00 a.m. I have just stayed up later (and slept later) for sooo long, that I have a really hard time going to sleep earlier at this point. I know I need to work on that, and with a DVR, there is really no excuse to stay up late like I do.I don't have a problem with being IN bed for 8 hours, but I do have a problem with making those hours conform to the schedule I choose.
