Thanks for the beans info. I'll keep it and show it to ds. He might have used that recipe. So he did soak them. Starting with hot water so if would be faster. I think he might have boiled them some but I can't remember how long. He put them in a sauce and in the oven for a couple hours in a cast iron pan. They boiled there for a couple hours at 400 degrees while the roast chicken cooked too. The definitely got hot enough but still quite firm. After that they did 20 minutes pressure cook in the instant pot. So I put them in the instant pot slow cooker for 3 hours. Except that was too late and now they are still sitting there on keep warm
. Eeks I don't know. I'm not a huge fan of beans anyway from the gassy issue but I wasn't going to discourage him.
Am I safe or did I mess them up on keep warm.
Anyway now I'm going to do my proper qt start to day and catch in a while. Thank you

trissie I so understand that you get the washer delivered upstairs by someone else ! Also, how lucky you can get a delivery on a Sunday. in France all shops are closed on Sundays, and I'm not sure you could get a home delivery on a Saturday. (can you hear that I'm envious ?). Sorry the vacuum-machine is broken too.

laurlind good luck with the beans. I would say as long as at some point they have been on boil for a few minutes you're safe. As a non-meat eater I cook beans a lot but seldom from dry beans, it takes too long to soak imho. The price of a can of beans is affordable enough to us, so we have half a dozen canned beans at home most of the time. I need to cuop to see how you managed with your crochet project. Lunch is eaten and cleaned up and there were leftovers for three packed lunches, and maybe one more. I will probably have to cook extra during the week for our lunches (MrNg's and mine). We have 8 glass boxes for packed lunches, I think we should buy a few more.
The upcoming week MrNG will be closer to home and will be home earlier than me, the week should be lighter on me. The next one is a hard one again, with him leaving earlier and arriving later.

Good morning, all! It'll be a quick in-&-out. Busy day today. Church first - and then Li'l H afternoon. She has another lesson to make up for last week's missed one. We're meeting her and her mom at the condo for the ride over to the horse barn as it's a shorter ride all the way around. It'll be interesting to see her reaction. It doesn't look near as inviting and cozy without the furnishings and the heavily edited pics for "shine." But, hopefully, she'll see the promise of a new adventure. Have started laundry. I'd better git! Time is short.

The washer was an hour and a half early - certainly not going to complain! Also glad I got the bathroom all clean first thing in the morning

Frenchie, I was kinda surprised that the Sunday delivery was an option, but it's a large online store that guarantees "24 hour delivery" by courier service or in pick up locations. The "carry upstairs" is a paid extra, but it doesn't really take that much longer if they already have couriers running around (though this requires a two people crew).
lauralind, if the beans did get heated in the oven, it will be safe! But it's a thing to consider, I only came upon that information a couple years ago, luckily by reading it, not experiencing it!

trissie, a "dead" washing machine, a week of dirty clothes and a family certainly is a household emergency! Amazing that you could get it dealt with so quickly.
I've been to church, changed clothes and had a glass of orange juice. And dsicovered that I have gained enough weight that my clothes don't fit very well.
I've been wearing mostly jeans. When I get back from TG, I will need to work on calorie reduction and activity increase.
Heading now to get some greens to put on both dh and my parents' graves, then full speed to refrigerators, washing clothes, packing, loading car, so I can leave early tomorrow morning. Early is not my forte, so I will really have to work at it.
Have a good day. I enjoyed learning about this new breed of cat. The pictures show it to be really pretty. But I'll bet that fur is difficult to care for and can become furballs. Yes, I am missing a pet, but cannot add the care of one to my life atm. Not for probably at least 10-15 years.

gma, it was more like 3 days (I do two of each loads - lights, colors, darks per week), but yeah, four days of darks means that even the superlarge (10kg - 22 pounds) washer was not enough and one hoodie was left in the hamper! Good luck on weight loss in the holiday season, that's ambitious, but if anybody can do it, it's you!
