~~~waving Hello to all~~~~
DGS28 just left after spending several hours here. I really enjoy his company. We hold opposite opinions on nearly everything, yet we can talk without anger. We challenge each other to think deeply and express our ideas clearly. We both listen to the other one explain their views and at the end of the discussion we basically agree to disagree. If you don't know WHY you think one way or another, this kind of conversation might not be enjoyable.
I had the strangest encounter this morning. A lady that I have never spoke to, but I know is a grandmother to neighbors a few doors down came to our door this morning. Without introduction she said, "I am old and I want you to give me your car". I thought it was a joke, so I played along saying "I'm old too!" with a big smile on my face.
then she said "I don't have a lot of money and I want you to give me your car"
By now I am getting a clue that this isn't a joke, but I continued with the conversation by saying "I don't have a lot of money either" while smiling.
She then asked how much we are wanted for the car. I told her that our grandson is the person selling it and I would get him to talk to her.
I do not believe she has dementia, but she fully believes that she should be given the vehicle. Her grandson was with her while she was making these demands, and he acted like it was normal for a stranger to demand we give her a vehicle.
I have delivered hot pads and pot holders to church for the gift baskets.
Saw the prickly people that I had been told left that church were there. :roll:
I did not stay had decided not to when I left home b/c of my back.
Got the bulletin and Dec. calendar, somethings I'm not doing now.
Like the friends-giving today.
Glad I had told them I'm not doing the hot pads & dish cloths next year.
{I may be doing up socks instead not sure where they will go yet ~ still have to find Sock yarn
the store was out when I looked last time. I still have 4 prayer shawls to do up anyway! LOL!}
Had my breakfast for lunch today.
Made up cornbread for doggo treats.
Cathy S. My granny used to make the yummiest rice pudding like that.
Such great memories.
We have walked. Got my steps in for the day.
Got a couple of rain drops when we walked.
So glad I did that I did the bday card for my dsis; she did a cake at a gathering for a couple of friends
for the monthly thing last month; this month they forgot hers she was fit to be tied I would have been too.
I'm having great fun replacing holiday decorating & stockings stuff by doing the vlogmas idea I "borrowed"
of writing on a project! I have a red notebook not doing it on line but gotta luv a great idea to use!
Of course my theme is diff. setting in a diff. country.
Grabbed food out of the freezer for dinner and the next couple of days.
Have a great afternoon.
Did my dishes after dinner.
Worked on my bujo for Mon.
It's finally sunny here again, nice choice for today, Harriet! We have a meeting at temple today to approve fundraising and repairs to our sanctuary. We have art glass windows, covered by an outside plexiglass or something, and those will be repairs, resealed and refurbished. I suggested that we see if A & V can have an early dinner after the meeting but they have family coming in today for Thanksgiving. Dh says her dd is coming in too, I hope we get to see her while she's here.
This is still sitting from this a.m. Sorry, I'm not more present today!
Dh and I thoroughly enjoyed 95% of the rice pudding this afternoon. There are a couple of tablespoons left for each of us. It's one of my favourite foods. Dh loves it with lots of raisins. (I soak the raisins in boiled water for a while before I mix everything together.)
We had liver and onions with boiled potatoes (I left the skins on) and green beans. We are both completely stuffed.
Time to watch the news with dh.
I had such a pleasant afternoon. Dd27 took me to lunch, took me for a walk-through at the lovely local plant nursery in the sunshine, and then through Michaels where we each bought mini creativity presents for each other. She got down on the floor and searched through the individually sold Micron pens to find a silver one for me to do tracing for embroidery, and we also bought me a better sized hoop. I bought her a set of paintbrushes.
Hoping Nancy's back gets better.
Hoping blessed's dmother's fever is fleeting.
LadyM, you and I both had good visits from family today.
The only time I've ever heard of something like LadyM's other visit was when a fellow trying to deal with my late dh's brother was saying that someone in his church had prophesied that he would be getting a pickup truck for nothing. He had been told that if he didn't act like he already owned the truck he must not really have faith, and anyone who didn't give the truck didn't have faith either. This caused a bit of confusion for all concerned.
Guess what - that wasn't dd's blender! She looked into the box and said, "I've never seen this before in my life." Underneath it, there were file folder tabs with weird wording - "shortening", "OSHA", "bloodborne pathogens", "refinery". ??????? HRH heard us talking and came over. "Ohhhhhh, that's the blender from my lab at work." :roll:
Happily, she took most of her decor, except for a few small pieces that I was already "using", she felt, or at least seemed to have a place among other things. She decorated the top of the cabinet in greenery and the old sleigh (basket). She changed a lightbulb in the bedroom for me, but we were both surprised to see that there WAS only one bulb in the fixture. No wonder it always seems so dim in there to me. At least there is a brand new bulb in there now, so I probably can be more assured the light won't go out for a while.
The car story is wild, LadyM! I have never had such an experience as that! PLEASE let us know if ds has any dealings with her.
Dgs stayed home from church and Dgd and I brought him lunch. He and Dgd have played this afternoon and he seems fine now. He just ate a fairly spicy steak at local Mexican restaurant.
I’m going to take him home when ds gets home.
Tomorrow is another day.
