Good morning/afternoon, all. I am up and drinking my coffee, and I have the SADD light on to make up for the sun being stuck behind a grey sky. There is lovely soft snow coming down. Windchill of -17 C, so Germane will stay warm and happy on her bed in the bathroom.

Thank you for starting us off, Kittykatt. I remember the fun of making snow angels when I was a child.

trissie, you paint a hilarious picture of the tree-lighting ceremony. You could turn it into a comedy. :D

That looks like a fun movie, FrenchFly. I hope that everyone enjoyed it.

I had to change my boots last year, helia. I was using steel-toed rubber boots with removable felt liners, but last year I was having a lot of trouble balancing while I forced one foot in. Then I realized that I don't have a dog who requires me to walk through conditions that need a boot like that. I bought boots that sound like yours. They are so much easier to get into, LOL.

I love The Search For Spock, trissie. Christopher LLoyd as a Klingon, LOL. Your boots look very warm and practical.

Hi, L.Ann. WTG on getting your exercises and walk in.

Dogged, I do try to view my life as comedy. A rather black one at times, but a comedy nevertheless! My work, for example, is an absurd comedy. My bestie at work, the company's CFO, says that some people would pay to see something like that, and we are even getting paid for observing it!
there's a lot of leftovers on the menu this week, are you eating out of the freezer, L.Ann?

Downstairs is a cookie baking mess! There's flour, sugar, sprinkles and cookie pearls all over both the kitchen and the dining table. So that is a priority before I can start dinner!

Oh no - I just lost a post with long chats to most of you. I'll have to keep it short now.

FFB, did ds7 come help you make cookies? It is a little hard for me not to be running - is that what you meant? It's mainly hard on my weight as I've been very slowly gaining. I'm not sure the benefit was mainly burning calories. It may have been more the feeling of being strong and able-bodied and having that "I can do it" attitude.
trissie, I guess it's better to laugh than cry! Your dark comedy at work reminded me of how we felt at the end of our time at our last church and then the year or so afterward every time we heard of a leadership (the elders - not the pastors) foible. It was kinda dark comedy - though at the time when we decided to leave the church, it felt more like pure darkness, not comedy.
Doggedly, glad you don't need steel-toed boots to walk Germane.
Hi Peaches!
You're steaming through Christmas preps, L Ann.

These are the shoes I got - in black. I'm trying them out. So far, they're warm and comfy. I'm not sure I'd go for a long walk in the snow in them, but maybe I would! They're great for everyday wear - payroll, 30 minute walks in the neighborhood, church. . . https://www.skechers.com/skechers-slip- ... 7_BLK.html

I just discovered there's a waterproof version; I didn't see that when I ordered these.

lucky you, L.Ann! My fridge is rather unhelpful tonight :-)
hi Peaches!
helia, black comedy is fun from distance, be it space or time. Absurd comedy... well, you have to have British sense of humor to enjoy it!

I made latkes for dinner - well not latkes, but "bramboraky", which is almost the same thing but with different spices (latkes have onions, and bramboraky are well spiced with garlic, marjoram and caraway seeds) - DH was surprised that I would willingly do something so time intense on a day like today, but they require very little space to make and I knew I'd be in the kitchen washing dishes and putting things away so pouring and turning the bramboraky was not that much of a hassle.

Happy Snow Angels Sunday!
*waving to all!

Looks like my last post was on Monday. Thought I'd pop back in and not let this run into a month-long absence again.
It's been a crazy, busy week meeting with contractors & vendors - back & forth, back & forth with samples & measuring. I'm almost to the end of my decision making for the townhouse. Just have a few stragglers left. Will finish those up tomorrow.
1. Changed my mind on some carpet in places - from plush to a low-loop Berber like style.
2. Need to pick out tub for master. I want to go to the showroom and try out lengths & styles of their free standing tubs.
3. Pick out light to go above.
4. Change vanity color in hall bath from white to navy.
and I think that's it!
Contractor says they can get it demo'd (however you'd spell that :P ) in December, and then start the updates in January.
Can I just say (again! ) how extremely overjoyed G was that he didn't have to make any of these decisions?

Yesterday....
Li'l H had an Irish dancing competition. I loved the competition itself, but Omg... 4 hours on bleachers. Next year - portable stadium seats! Then we went out to lunch with ddil/R's parents. They're super sweet. It was nice spending some time with them.

This afternoon...
Need to finish up Xmas decorating. I haven't been back to it since last Saturday when Li'l H & Ddil/R were here.

Okay.... I'd better get to it! Changing into some comfier clothes first.

Hello everyone!

Trissie, you're right and we don't usually have enough snow for snow angels, but during the winter of 2018 we actually got around 10 cm snow, so the local kids managed reasonable approximations!

FFB, I remember being about DS 9's age when I was given a Stamp album, with pages to stick the stamps of different countries. You're right, of course, that far fewer people send letters these days. You used to be able to buy (cheaply) multipacks of miscellaneous used stamps from different countries, which were useful if you had pages of an album to fill! Of course, you never knew in advance exactly what you would end up with!

Helia, those shoes look very warm amd comfortable.

L.Ann, how nice to be able to eat out of the fridge for a few days!

Dogged, I'm going to confess my favourite Star Trek film is the Voyage Home. I know it's almost certainly not "the best one", but it has those little moments, like when Spock "turns off" the obnoxious punk on the bus .

Smilelee, your townhouse is certainly taking shape! WTG on making all those decisions. Having read about the carpet, I did feel I should ask if have you any pets? I don't think I remember you mentioning any, but it's just that claws can easily get caught (unintentionally!) in looped carpets, and then the animal pulls to get free and then ... well, you can imagine!

Hi, Peaches!

Today has been good and also relaxing. A good service at church followed by coffee with DF E, where we exchanged Christmas cards. Today's lunch was roast lamb rump, roast potatoes, gravy, mint jelly, cavalo Nero, carrots and peas,. followed by Greek yogurt and lemon curd fool.

I've folded laundry and PA, and also washed my coat and gilet. (I dont need to go anywhere smart for the next couple of days, so everything has time to dry properly.) I've also had some time in my front garden - it's ridiculously mild ATM at 16C, so I was picking up leaves in just a t shirt today. Freddie has had his walk, and I've had a nap on the sofa. Watching Poirot now with DH, and with Matilda on my lap.
