kitty ~ good to know. We had cats for a long time in this house and they tore the cr** out of the Berber carpet around the doors downstairs. I hadn't never given it consideration that it was the type of carpet. It never happened upstairs on the plush pile carpet. But no, not planning on any animals. We travel too much to have one. Maybe someday when I'm more in one place. I do love animals. I grew up with dogs my whole life. We got cats when the boys wanted pets. They were easier to leave by themselves when we traveled back and forth to Indiana.

Smilelee, that's a relief! :D I was worried you might have been offended by my comments, but figured it was better to be offended for a few minutes than to live for years with a wrecked carpet!😀

Poirot has finished, so my plan now is to have a short session dealing with the photos .

Enjoy the photos, Kitty. Or good luck?
Nice to hear from you, Smile! WTG on all those decisions! I remember when dd30 was in competitive gymnastics as a child. We would sit on bleachers for hours to watch her do a routine for 30 seconds - or maybe 2 or 3 minutes if it was the beam or floor. LOL! I always brought something else to do between the events.
Yumm.... How did the bromboraky turn out, trissie?

I think I need to head to CG2 now. It is 3:30 already -- it's starting now. I'm usually late.

Done:
- collected the manuscripts for the Bible study
- loaded dw and wiped kitchen counters
- running dw
- cleared my stuff off the table
- WF
- put away food

Kittykatt I first read cavalo negro and thought you had treated you and your DH with a nice bottle of wine but it sounded a bit unusual... I remember buying little packages of stamps, too. They are still sold in some places, I saw some in Paris in November. But who buys them, I don't know.

Smile, how interesting, to find a new bath tub. I never had the opportunity to shop for those, always making do with what we had. Good luck with the decorating!

L.Ann, thanks (as always) for posting a week's worth of menu ideas :) Oh, and a barn Christmas party. I think you mentioned it before, maybe last year. Your DD32 does love Christmas... will you go with Little Bit too?

helia yes that's what I means, it must be frustrating not being able to run when you want to and feel able to, indeed. Good luck with your social life !

trissie I have many ideas for egg whites. I think the cinnamon stars or Zimtsterne are made with only egg whites, as is the icing on many cookies. And egg whites freeze very well.

Doggedly, I can't belive the temps are -17°C where you are. We have incredibly sweet temps this weekend and in the days to come, between 13° and 15°, either day or night. It's more September weather than December weather, and shows how the climate is deteriorating, but the good thing is, no need to defrost the cars, and we can spare a bit on heating bills this week. Stay warm !

Hi Peaches and anyone I forgot.

Well it's bedtime here. We made a batch of gingerbread-style cookies, half of which was eaten in the afternoon. DS7 was exhausted, singing to himself while cutting the cookie shapes, his eyes staring in emptiness at dinner, ... we wake him up early five days a week and he has long school days, from 8.10 when I leave him in front of the school gate (school opens at 8.20) to around 6pm when I pick him up at after-school daycare, to go back home do his homework /dinner / bedtime routine. He needs a winter break, or maybe just a break from this tiring schedule as do us grownups.
I need to put him in bed with lights out earlier than his usual 9pm...

Wishing all of you a peaceful evening and night!

kitty ~ Amen, sister!
helia ~ The first year at 5 years old, we waited 2 whole hours for 1 dance. Luckily, we were sitting in chairs at that venue. Now that she's older, I think she was in 4 or 5 dances. (I didn't count.) Next competition, I WILL be prepared!
Frenchi ~ I'm almost 70, and this is the first time I've ever gotten to pick out tubs, and I picked out 4 this year! In my early 30's, we lived behind a frat house in an old Tudor when G went back to University to work and finish his undergrad. THAT tub.. omg... the finish was worn off. You might as well have been sitting un sandpaper. But.. I was young.. didn't think anything about it at the time. It was a rental and we weren't going to replace it, that's for sure. I love hearing kids sing to themselves. Li'l H sings up a storm every time she goes into the bathroom.

Most of the inside decor is done. Need G's help for the landing sill above the sliding glass door. And.. he needs to get the door wreaths down in the garage - too high without a ladder. Still no ladders for me. Ever since my back accident, G considers them my kryptonite. I do have a stepstool. ;)

Next - get outside stuff done. I can't find the net lights for the bushes. Floating around in Smile*Lee brain universe, I think maybe I folded them up and put them in one of the wreath containers - in the garage. I'll have to wait for G to find out.

Hey, kit!
Way too much to do and very little time...
yah... ikwym!

I was able to get my wreaths down with the step stool. The only thing left to put outside are the net lights - which were under the wreaths. Brain is still working.. I've made a huge mess even with the scaling back of decorating this year. There's still a lot. Okies.. next! Start cleaning up the mess and put things away while waiting on G for the landing sill.

I think that is a very good approach, trissie. I'm sure that it helps to keep life's reverses in check.
I think that cookie mess is the source of a lot of good childhood memories!

Are you looking for anything in particular to read, L.Ann?

Hi, Peaches

Those look like very comfortable boots, helia. I'll bet that they are very light too. My new boots were my first experience with the foam soles in winter boots, and what a difference!

Lucky G, that he has you to make those decisions, Smile*Lee, LOL.

Oh, I love The Voyage Home too, Kittykatt. Should I confess that my favourite was always The Wrath Of Khan because Khan was my favourite bad guy and Spock was my favourite good guy. But I think that now my favourite is probably The Undiscovered Country. To see the characters and writers maturing out of the "Wagon Train To The Stars" mindset.
Which Poirot did you watch? I just finished listening to Chimneys again.

Oh, your weather sounds beautiful, FrenchFly. I'm not entirely pleased with the weather I have here just now, LOL. My db said that he heard that we were getting a "weak" La Nina this year. I don't know if weak means that it will affect us for a shorter time, or what, but it explains the early cold.
Have a good sleep and enjoy your cookies.

Smile*Lee, I picture you saying "I've waited too many years to pick out a tub!" and stalking through your neighbourhood saying "You! You're getting a footed tub! You! You're getting a walk-in tub! You! You're getting a harvest gold tub and start cleaning up after your dog when you walk!"

Hi, kitkat

Sunday
Cleaned up after dog
CUOP
Sorted dirty laundry
Started handwashing mop pads
Put away dry dishes
Put down blotting for where Germain peed on the floor
Cleaned up after her
Rinsed mop pads
Showered/washed hair
Rinsed mop pads
Mini grooming session with dog
Cleaned up after that
Rinsed/wrung out mop pads
Hung them
Put a tower under them to catch the drips
Rinsed out the handwashing gizmo and dumped the water out

Smilelee, I really need to think about decorating for. Christmas.

Enjoy your book, L.Ann!

KitKat, the kitties are all well, thank you for asking. 😀 Matilda had a hour of cystitis back.in September, and she's now on a special prescription diet and supplements, which all seem to be helping.

I managed 45 minutes on the photos, and have a pile.of failures that I've culled..So that's progress. I'm off to bed now, a.d I'll see if I can post my.list.for the week.
