trissie, I don't mind at all if you ask questions about foster care. In fact, I get on a soap box about it, because there are people who think that foster children are bad. They have it confused with juvenile detention. So I let people know, because no one is intimidated by me. It might give someone confidence to let their child be friends with a foster child and not isolate them.
The truth is, I never got a straight story on why we ended up in foster care, but my eldest sister's version sounds like the likeliest. My parents both had issues and we lived sometimes with both parents, sometimes just with my mother, and one time my siblings ended up living just with my father and I was sent off to live with strangers. My sister said that at one point, both parents were in the hospital at the same time and the girls did their best to hide the fact that we were living with no adults in the house, but when that came to light, we were turned over to the foster care system. My eldest sister is the only one who got to live with one of our parents again. Personally, I think that both parents were relieved to have the responsibility taken off of them. I am of the last generation where most people really couldn't avoid having children so a lot of people ended up with a lot of responsibility that they didn't want, didn't enjoy, and weren't good at. By the time I came of age, there was still a lot of pressure on girls to get married and spend their lives cleaning up after people, but society had changed enough that we could push back if we were really determined.
I am sorry for your family drama. One of my big blessings in life is the ability to leave behind dramatic family members. When the drama drags on like that, it is that much harder to take. I hope it resolves soon, or at least abates.
The apartment got cold, so I have spent a lot of time hiding in the bathroom next to the heater. But I did come out clean and with hair washed, so that's one I can strike off the list.
Go, Bama!
That's a cat, Kittykatt! My db's new cat uses the cat tree in his bedroom to observe him while he sleeps, LOL. We think that he is working his way toward sleeping in the bed.
Hi, Peaches
That is some bad timing on the car's part, helia. I hope that your DH can get it sorted out before your trip.
L.Ann, can Santa bring tickets to an outing with her friends?
That was lucky timing, Gma. Have a good sleep.

Re: Tahini Cookie Tuesday @ TDD - C&C
Doggedly, I was born to a teen mom and was put in the foster care system at birth. I was adopted at age 5.5 months. It was the same with both my adoptive (not biological - I have no idea if I have biological siblings) brothers, though they were adopted at younger ages. I have a friend from our previous church who had a similar adoption story to mine. He is now a fine person as well as a biology professor at a very strong university. Foster care kids don't necessarily fall into certain preconceived boxes.

That is very true, helia. I feel that I am so ordinary and middle class that it counteracts some of the negative stereotypes that people have about foster children. I'm glad that you found your forever family.
I have the breadmaker running. I think that I will roll up my sleeves and dive into some paperwork.

Yum - fresh bread baking, Doggedly.
Dh came home and got my windshield wiper fluid working.
Of course. He did exactly what the mechanic at the garage did. He said it is above freezing now (33) so that is why he thinks it works now.
I have graded the midterm exams and caught up on some random assignments turned in. I think that's it for the day.
I'll need to get up early to pack, prep for class, get one exam done for exam prep, and put away a small grocery order. Folding and putting away the little bit of laundry that is clean would be great too.
My final list:
Next:
- get ready for bed
- set my alarm for 6:45
- go to sleep
Later:
- update toodledo, notebook, and SF lists
- Memorial thank yous progress: 1 2 3
- make eye appointment
- payroll: AR exam draft ready
- payroll: start prep for AAS D8
- darks: w d f pa
- lights: w d f pa
- towels: w d f pa
- pre-packing prep (overnight trip tomorrow!)
TaDas!
- said good bye to dh @ 5:30ish this am
- up; weighed self - a little lower

- updated toodledo
- kitchen reclaimed
- darks: washing
- some qt
- added to my Cmas list
- back exercises
- s2s and self care
- squeegeed and wiped down shower

I'm glad that your DH got the windshield wiper working before your trip, helia. If I don't see you before you go, have a safe trip.
