Oh sorry, didn't get back here. I see L Ann and trissie had some questions about the guardianship quandary. This is for dsil and dbil's dd15. (Dh's sister and her husband's 15yo daughter). They are Dutch, living in Germany. Dniece15yo wants to come to the US and study in a high school here next fall for just 2 months. A friend would to come with her. Dh's sister asked if we could host them. We've said yes. . . and now they're trying to figure out if that is feasible and what would need to be done. Dsil initially balked at the school's requirement of our having guardianship, but I think she didn't fully understand what that meant. Me neither. . . Now she thinks that would be OK -- but we do need to look into this more. Another important piece for both girls would be health insurance -just making sure that if they get sick or injured here that their insurance would cover the cost of medical care - or most of it. Hopefully that wouldn't happen -- but strange things do happen in life.

If it all works out and we suddenly find ourselves in charge of 2 teenage girls next fall, I might take a session off work. I think I'll be driving them to and from school every day, and dh and I have already discussed some trips we might make with them. You can't come to the USA for 2 months and only see Michigan. . . . :D

I had a super busy day and got most of my goals done. Rh arrived around 8:40 a.m. while I was finishing spiffing his room. I learned that his sort of girlfriend KE will be coming to celebrate Sinter Klaas with us on the 27th. Not sure when she'll be arriving. So, we'll have 2 houseguests. And M is returning in time for Sinter Klaas too. LOL! We're up to 10 people for Sinter Klaas so far. Back to today. . . the only 2 goals I didn't get done are, predictably, exercise and progress on Memorial thank yous.

Tomorrow, I think I'm going to the gym with the girls. Then, I need to shop and cook dinner for 10? people - or 8 if the girls don't join us. I'll package up the meal for the Gs (5 adults) and bring it to their home in a neighboring town by 5 pm (leaving the house around 4:30 pm) so dh, RH, me, and possibly the girls can eat early at 5:30 and then go to a 6:30 movie. Dh wants to see the 3rd Knives Out movie. I think that will be most of my day.

Yes, helia, if your dbil/dsil normally travel within Europe, it might not occur to them that it is normal to get travel insurance when you leave your own country. I'm sure that Michigan is very beautiful, but can imagine that they might want to see a particular site that is in another state.

LOL, Kittykatt, I can picture Freddie spreading out to take up all available space like a visual representation of Parkinson's Law! Have a good sleep!

I am all clean and spiffy, and I hope that I have enough waking energy left in me to fill a couple of slow cookers. The little one with potatoes and carrots in water for Germane, and beef, savoy, potatos, onions and carrots for me. Oh, and I bought a rutabaga. That will be a welcome addition.

WTG, Peaches.

Friday
Treats for dog X 1 million
Benedryl for dog
Cleaned up after dog
Put on a pot of coffee
Scrubbed out sink and basin
Washed some dishes
Refilled water bottle and put it in fridge
Wiped down accessible surfaces
Put microwave plate and rice cooker liner in to soak
Dentist’s office called with outstanding amount that the dental plan didn’t cover.
Played telephone tag with them a bit and then paid it.
Dried some dishes
Washed some more dishes
Put some dishes in to soak
Fought with special application dentist uses for online receipts and found a clumsy workaround, but still calling it a win
Dried the microwave parts and put it back together
Gathered clothes for shower
Flossed
Fresh kibble for Germane
Showered/washed hair/brushed teeth
Set up slow cookers
Chopped up savoy cabbage

I have both slow cookers filled up and cooking. The only thing that I am sad about is that I couldn't fit any potato in mine by the time I had put in all of the vegetables and meat. Oh, well, Germane will just have to share. I just want to bag up the kitchen garbage and send it down the chute if Germane will let me leave the apartment without her, and then get ready for bed.
