I'm frustrated with the rotisserie chicken we got 36 hours ago. I already smells funky. I knew I was taking a chance with low probability of success when I added the rotisserie chicken to my curbside pickup order. Something about that combination is not good. They have to be leaving the chicken sit out for too long.

When I discovered the yucky rotisserie chicken smell, I switched to sweet teriyaki chicken from the freezer.

I can't seem to help myself overfilling the soup pot. I always have JUST ONE MORE INGREDIENT to add which results in bubbling over the top of the pot. I took a cup of the broth out to help it stop bubbling over. OH MY. IT taste so good!

mom's Alzheimer's is challenging today. She doesn't want to do anything - except watch tv which I know will backfire on me. She spaces out and then fights getting to the bathroom, laying down, etc. so keeping my fingers crossed that she helps herself (with my help) to stand up with the Sara steady. She is questioning if what I am doing is the truth - she said "you want to bet me -I can and will walk up the stairs; that's where my room is at." " you want to do dishes - your on your own, I am doing nothing!!!" Can't say she isn't spunky!!! At least she is eating well.

I am so sorry that the counselors mother passed away - praying for the counselor and the family
I can't even imagine planting until may over here - having that snow and sleet must be unusual for your area

I love when the kiddos have their first communions
dd older had a cheeky boy in her communion class- he took a wet washcloth in class (meant for the tables) and started washing the front of his shirt - teacher asked why - "I am washing off all the sins" he had the whole class laughing but it did not go over well with the sister visiting the classroom to talk about communion.

Hello, hello!!!
I was awakened at 9:00 a.m. by phone call from dcousin, who told me her husband was on his way over to take care of the heat units, where the mice are getting in. I rushed to get dressed (had showered last night) and was able to get outside and speak to them just as they were getting out of their truck. Her husband was not with them, but one of the workmen is a former student, super sweet guy. I talked to them a bit and showed them my areas of concern. They have left now but are supposed to be returning with some rock to fill in a few more spots.

Since then, I have
* done part of my Bible reading
* s/s baths
* reconciled the checkbook statement
* started a load of laundry
* punched holes and organized papers in church notebook for meeting tonight
* cleared a bunch of emails and wasted time reading some others
* made appointments with
-- dermatologist (they were able to see me TOMORROW!)
-- gynecologist (later this month)

I'm so sorry your mom is being challenging today, Blessed. I know it has to be beyond frustrating. (((BIG HUGS)))

Sorry about the chicken, too, LadyM! I just made a Wmart order also. Will pick up after I get dgrands from school. I am on afternoon pick up duty for this week and next week! DS is in Texas.

Harriet, I was wondering how much snow y'all got! I saw a lot of coverage on the news from your general area.

Rose -- I bet it does feel chilly down there. It's only 2 degrees higher in Lakeland, FL, where my dbro is, than it is here! (50 degrees here, and I am glad of it!) I know the Groundhog saw his shadow here, but I think for this week our temperatures will be in the 40s/50s and last night they even showed a 60 for the 10-day forecast! I know I'll be complaining about the heat sometime in the next six months, but we've had enough cold for a while here!

Twins -- what do I do over and over? Hmmm... look for my glasses, for one thing. Eat too much... watch tv... nap... a lot of bad habits.
In fact, I think I will lie down for a BRIEF time before I have to get dgrands. I've got about 45 minutes.

mom is resting - praying she sleeps another 1/2 hour.

helper called and they couldn't do a filling - she needs to have the teeth pulled or do root canals. she is in a lot of pain; poor woman!

emptied the dw and filled with a few dishes
ordered 32 " jars (for jars - trying instead of ball jars)
put laundry on
rinsed out sink
I have been cleaning my kitchen cabinets again - streamlining.

now put away from counter
soaking top of stove clean
pulled a home run cheese pizza from freezer - will mom like it - I don't know - I also pulled 2 frozen premade pasta veg meals from freezer just in case. I will make a salad us and maybe some garlic bread for mom

went in freezer and found out that I had meat from February 2025 - had to toss it. looked awful - dried out.
dd younger had cherries frozen but they died - no date - tossed
organized dh's frozen dinners - I can make the best dinner and he eats the same thing every day - no veggies or fruit.

I need to make a menu for the week - I don't like not knowing what I will have.

Got all that done, plus sandwiching with the interfacing and stitching quick-as-a-bunny around the traced line before the air-erasable marker's line air-erased away, lol. Barely had enough leftover interfacing - yay for being thrifty (and surprisingly organized, for me) and saving in a well-marked baggie!

And wouldn't you know, right in the middle of probably the only time-sensitive occupation I'll have today, the outdoor camera rang and immediately HRH called my name. What???? I was thinking - did the mail carrier decide to try delivering a package after all (seemed highly unlikely)? Was dgsC walking over in the high snow? But no... .. a varmint had come up to the window and tripped the ringer, was unknowingly staring HRH in the face on camera (large computer screen) beside his office chair. He insisted I come see and wouldn't tell me what it was until I got there. Anyway, an old 'possum who looked thin. HRH peeled an apple and shared part, tossing out the door to the corner 'possum would be ambling around. it ventured toward the apple and since it was invisible to humans (smile), it carried the piece away. I know ds (or anyone with chickens) would roll his eyes. HRH says, "My heart can't stand it."

I remember planting onions and something else (not potatoes, though) right through a couple inches of snow, in order to go by the Farmer's Almanac planting times (I didn't research the reasons, just did what FA chart said). But I was a tough young woman then, don't think I was even a mom yet. Dh was at work. Even if the ground wasn't too frozen, the hard work outside didn't occur to me until I started back and realized how frozen I myself was! And also tired, probably because of the temp and wind. I remember thinking that's the kind of thing that can get you into real trouble when you are outside alone. Duh. Cell phone? What's that?

Harriet... I would do the same.

Once when I lived on the farm..remember my backyard was really a hay field...my then husband and I were stand on the back porch when we spotted a possum out in the distance. It was noon time so we were surprised to see her there. My husband whistled at her and to our surprise we saw her shake of a bunch of babies that were riding on her back and came running to us.

We had a cat at the time and had cat food on the porch. As we stood there she calmly ate her fill of the food, ambered down the steps and took off towards her babies. Once there we watched with amazement as she stopped and all her babies climbed back up on her back. then she waddled away.

The possum was not scared of us at all and we figured she must of been someone's pet at one time and her owner must have whistled to her when it was time for her to come and eat.

Wow, Rose. I have certainly never seen a possum come when someone whistled! That's amazing. I've never seen one with their babies either.

My former student did say he had seen a possum go into one of the fork lift slots under his own heat unit. You would think it would be too big to fit in there.
Fortunately, I should see less possums, mice, and whatever was tearing up my wires (at least, evidence of mice, etc. -- I am VERY thankful I have not actually seen the ones causing havoc in the crawl space!) The men are gone and they actually put concrete around the base of these units!
Did any of you see the BEAR that was living in someone's crawl space? That might have been in California. I might have already told you that.

So, I did the school pick up, with some frustration from dgs, whom I couldn't see from the car, and who couldn't see me from where he was after school, so dgd and I waited a long time until he finally did come search the parking lot and saw us. (MWF I have to pick him up at the high school where he goes during the last period to lift weights and work out.)
We went to Wmart and picked up the groceries, then I took them to S*nic, and when we got home dgs unloaded the groceries for me. I've got them put away, second load of laundry going, and church meeting in about 45 minutes. After that, I will decide on supper for myself.
