DMillie was able to poop this a.m. at least, I know that makes her feel a little better. I'm heartsick about her, and I ran into dfriend M earlier and her R uby, age 12 I think, has a tumor on her spleen that's coming out tomorrow. So I'm doubly heartsick. Dh keeps asking if I've rescheduled my body work that I cancelled yesterday and I just don't feel like it right now.

I did go out and get a couple of things at CVS and checked HOA post office box.

Sitting in dentist waiting room. While DH is getting cavity filled.

Next up-
** go to sams pharmacy for DD14 acne prescription.
** scam and go a case of paper towels while @ sams
** fill up odessey
** look for car wash that isnt busy. All that snow/ice has resulted in a very dirty vehicle.....which i find strange because it wasn't driven during that time

I have been rewarding myself with books. I bought a newly released JD Robb yesterday. I also finished a John Sandford book at around 3 in the morning this morning. Now I've started the JD Robb book.

I called a different appliance company today and they need to come and look at the machine today between 2 and 5. Dh got to the point where he was extremely irked at the other guy. No idea how much the second choice will cost. We might still need to go and look at a new washer. I found a scratch and dent store not too far from the Costco I go to.

On the way home we stopped to get DH hair cut. That means this trip included completing 1 weekly and 2 monthly cards.

Sam's was completely cleared out of paper towels. What's up with that? Everything else seemed well stocked, but the section that usually has hundreds rolls of paper towels was completely empty.

DH continues to struggle with handling money. I handed him cash to pay for haircut before we entered the style shop. When it came time for DH to pay, he couldn't find the money. I paid and then on the way home DH found the money folded up in his pocket.

I am feeling clueless and out of touch....and a tad bit frustrated.
The tipping expectations are becoming wild. (to me)
I enjoy tipping for excellent service. It feels good to acknowledge someone who exceed expectations.

Do you tip the person who hands the bag of food to you at the drive through window?
Do you tip the person who changed the oil in your vehicle?
Do you tip the person who slices the cheese at the deli counter?

Today our OH doors were repaired and I was caught off guard when tipping was added to the bill. The parts were about $50. The labor was about $250. I thought that was very reasonable because they made 2 trips to our home and repaired 2 overhead doors.
But the expectation (demand?) that we select the percentage of tip to be added on top of that $300 bill just rubbed me the wrong way.
Am I being chintzy?
Maybe I am tired and being cranky like a toddler that needs a nap.

Lady M, your attitude seems very reasonable to me! I know our cultures are different at times, (although we spek the same language!), but it would never enter my head to tip for any of those first three examples..For the last example, when someone comes to the house do some work, then it depends.on the circumstances. If it's a large job, then the invoice would usually be emailed to me , together with bank details, and I would pay by BACS. The invoice would, of course, be itemised, but nowhere would there be any entry for a tip. If it's a small job, and I'm paying by cash, then I ask how much and usually round it up to the nearest £5 or £10, and say something like ,"buy yourself a drink" to indicate I'm not expecting change.

If it's a company I go to regularly for a service, I don't usually tip (and neither is it expected), but I would buy a tub of chocolates at Christmas for everyone to share.

LadyM... I don't know about anyone else, but I always tip people who do service on my home.. like the washer, fridge, or garage door and I usually hand them a $20 bill, no more than that. I don't tip anyone else except when I go to a restaurant inside to eat. I pay cash most days now at restaurants because around here they are adding service charges to use a credit card. I tip my hair dresser and when I get my nails done. I do tip the barber, but in case and usually 10%.

My Preferred Care for Sweetie does am automatic direct draw from my checking account. They were very up front saying if I used my CC there would be an additional 3% charge. Thats what the credit cards charge the companies for their service. I get it, but I wont play their game. Some places don't even mention about the extra charges on whatever you are paying for.

I had my blood drawn today and got my test results back. It was just as I expected...I have a infection somewhere in my body. My white cells are really high and my blood cells are really low. the strangest one of all way my Bilirubin was very high. That causes yellow skin and eyes...Jaundice and blood disorders also cause high bilirubin. I knew about high Bilirubin because every one in my family, except me, has had hepatitis.

My liver functions were checked two weeks ago and it is just fine. All the other regular checkup test done a couple a weeks ago came out great. It was only when I complained to my doctor how I keep crashing and falling asleep in the last afternoon and asked her to check my hormones did she order my tests.

Now I wait and see what comes next....

That would rub me the wrong way too, LadyM!
I’ve never had that situation.
HOWEVER — all the other… no, no, and no.
I have not even been tipping my hairdresser. I know she probably thinks I’m terrible, For so long, dh and I went together and he never saw a need to tip. So I just haven’t made it a habit. I do try to add on a bit at Christmas.
She charges $35 — how much should I be tipping?

I just left a local drive-in, kinda like Sonic. At places like that, I usually add on a dollar to whatever the cost is.
I do NOT tip at a place like McDonald’s where all they do is hand a bag out the window. Or when I pick up a pizza and they bring it out to my car. (Why that is different than Sonic, I don’t know. They just carry one box and they don’t have to make change or anything. I guess that is my reasoning.) It is confusing and sometimes frustrating!
Tomorrow is another day.

My Question of the day.
How do you keep track of diff. size sheets for diff. beds in your home?
I keep the sheets for that twin or queen bed in that room it's in.
How about you?

ON Tipping Dgd is going to try to get on at a place that makes coffee for the tips,
b/c at Arby's where she is now as a counter person does not get tipped.

I do tip at sub way as I watch the gal make my order and it's usually
specific for me like no please leave that sauce off. Some times not much
but some if I pay in cash I get to choose how much I tip.

I never thought about the service people good info. I will consider that.
The place I use had some one in the office put in jail for embezzle - meant so
they were charging plenty! Makes you re-think stuff for sure.

I have dog's towels in the dryer now.
Showered
Got four + chapters edited and outlined.
