How will people figure out how to repair internal combustion engines after they finish their hooked-rug-making seminar?
Love this humorous way of stating it! And....so true in the YT usage in our home.

After reading and learning how short videos change our ability to focus, I rarely watch them. I prefer long format videos and with most of them I am taking notes while learning. There are endless number of topics that interest me. I am currently watching and taking notes on 3 ways to make cottage cheese bowls.

...drum roll...... the broccoli and radish seeds planted last week have sprouted! I am still not sure I can get them through the last of the winter weather and grown to eating phase. However... OH MY...it thrills me to see green sprouts popping up from the soil. Whatever happens to the newly sprouted seeds after this is a bonus.

waving to all of you -
d lady we have a dish called Bibeleskaes (or bibalakas) - we use it with boiled potatoes or French fries - I can't get fromage blanc here so we adjust it - we add chives, red onion, s/p, garlic to it.

Waiting for DD14 zoom appt with dietitian is over so I can get laptop back. I am listening to their zoom talk and find myself very impressed with the amount and variety of healthy information and encouragement being given. She asked Dd14 about eating vegetables and dd14 was not receptive to eating any vegetables. After talking about texture and possible thing to eat with vegetables eventually dd14 said she does like carrot with ranch dressing. Bit by bit they are finding ways dd14 can improve her gut health.

Wonderful discussion with dd14, LadyM. So good that a nutritionist can challenge her ideas of what she likes without putting her off.

I've had the donwannas today. I think because it's so dreary out. I did take a little nap - didn't sleep much but I was cold and that warmed me up. Temp is sixty out but inside felt so cold earlier.

I did finally get into stamping a bit, and then worked through my stamp sets catalogued in Evernote, and deleted those that I let go. I have crazy organization of my stamp sets - each has a photo/note in Evernote, tagged with each sentiment on the stamp, tagged with each item (apple, tree, rose, torah, etc...) I'm also working on subtags for Sentiments, so I can search all sentiments...) or occasions.

Dh is in the next room online with the search committee zoom (using it generically, it's something else...)

We'll heat up soup when he's done.

I had a nap that was too long this afternoon. I fell asleep with my book in my right hand. Dh said he came in and said he wasn't going to try to remove the book so he wouldn't wake me up.

We had supper and while I was cooking supper, I cooked almost 3 cups of long grain rice. After supper I made a large rice pudding. It hasn't cooled down yet, but dh and I are both eating it already.

Dh didn't have a shower today. He might have one later tonight. (moments later) He's headed to the shower.

Having several mentors in teenagers life is vital. The mentors can say something and the teens will listen and respond well. It makes teaching life skills so much easier when they are receiving guidance from several trusted sources.

We have three extra teens here this evening. I'm not sure what they are working on but I know they are busy doing something. They just came inside the house to search our bin of extra cords for a multi ended usb cord. They spoke respectfully to us as they searched and then were gone outside again once they found what they needed for whatever project they are doing.

While DD14 was talking with her dietitian, I used that time to make a big pot of my soup in the kitchen. I wasn't hovering during their zoom call but I could hear most of the conversation. I divided the soup up into 7 portions and have part in the refrigerator and the rest in the freezer. I usually eat soup daily for one of my meals.

I really hope your broccoli makes it, LadyM. You'd have an early crop there and really enjoy it = bragging rights around the neighborhood perhaps. A challenge, though.

Ds and dgdC came over. DgdC herself drove the big 4-wheeler that belongs to ds for the first time, with Daddy just riding behind her on the seat. I saw them arrive, but it didn't dawn on me that this was a milestone.

Ds and HRH worked on technology together while C and I pondered my current quilt project. She gave opinions and advice. Asked her, "what did you learn in school today" and got an earful.

We didn't know what we wanted for supper, so a cake of cornbread served as the anchor for some leftovers and sides.

I hope things went okay with your brother, blessed. Glad your dmom was having a good day!

And I hope you get a good report from the coming test for dMillie, Twins.

We went to the Ash Wednesday service, and I was even able to contribute to ddil's talk re: Washington trip without showing any upset. I may not have mentioned this -- they are planning a trip to DC and maybe Gettysburg, battlefields in Virginia, etc for this summer. I am not invited. I DO NOT EXPECT TO BE INVITED TO EVERYTHING THEY DO -- I totally understand that they need time on their own and time away from the responsibilities of home life and all that, and with their work schedules, they don't have a lot of that. And I certainly didn't want my inlaws (or my parents) barging in on everything dh and I did!!!
But... I do find myself feeling sad that MY trips are pretty much over. I know I complained about all the ballgames and things, but I did enjoy a lot of the time dh and I spent on the road, and now, I feel that part of my life is over, you know? Especially if I cannot overcome my travel phobia and be brave enough to go on some of these bus trips dfriends have raved about... or take my dmom somewhere. I do still hold out hope that when dgs is old enough to help with the driving, maybe he and dgd will accompany me on some of my bucket list trips. Such as Williamsburg, which ds said was not on the agenda for this summer. I would really have my feelings hurt if they went there (or to the Biltmore) without me!
I told them they should contact our state representatives or senators -- don't they sometimes give people tours and special perks?

I have washed off the ashes now. Actually, I am showered and ready for bed before 11:30. AND I did the walk away the pounds routine!
Kitchen is s/s, but I need to do Bible reading. I rushed out this morning for yoga.

I wish ds and ddil could enjoy showing people around their house. SMH. I dropped off the dgrands there while I went to funeral visitation, and I told them before I left: "Y'all, pick up these candy wrappers and other trash, and put the dirty dishes in the sink. Get all these papers off the floor and stack them up while I'm gone."
Well -- wonder of wonders, they DID it. I mean, the house is still a wreck, but they did what I said and I bragged on them, and dgd said, "It only took a minute!" I said, "Well, if you would do that every day, it would make a big difference." She said, "A minute every day?" And I told her YES, that would make a difference. It's unbelievable.
I always said dh and I lived like two kids in a dorm, but I meant the way we ate and slept. DS/family live like four very messy kids in a dorm.

Sounds like dd's dietician is very helpful and understanding, LadyM! I wonder if she takes long-distance appointments...

It was certainly dreary here today, Twins. I'm glad you got some stamping time -- and I love your organization of the files!
I got a nap too, even with dgrands here, although dgd was NOT pleased.

LadyM, I know what you are saying is right about having mentors in teens lives. I hope dgrands will have good ones. I think dgs likes his coaches, but I don't know if he would ever open up to them about anything personal. I don't know if he would ever really open up to anyone! Of course, I think ds is exactly the same. It was always very difficult to get ds to talk about anything that might be bothering him. DGS and I do talk in general terms about things like the addictive qualities of social media -- because it's in the news right now. They do not have any social media, although they both have access to YouTube.

WTG to your dgd, driving the 4-wheeler, Harriet!

Our high school basketball team is in a regional tournament tomorrow, so ds and dgs are going to it (students are excused with ticket stub). I will be doing after school pick-up for dgd again, and take her to ball practice. I hope ddil will come get her when she gets off work.
I'm just looking back as far as topic review takes me, so let me wave and say good night to ALL of you! Hope you ALL have a wonderful day tomorrow.
Tomorrow is another day.
