Wondering if Twins' has been to the library.

Kittykatt, I looked up EDPM dormers and learned all new things - did not know. Wood shingles are nearly unheard of in my area, so I have no experience with them either except thinking they are pretty.

lucylee, I would think that a red roof going to pink would be rather in line with the green roof we installed going to gray-brown. Probably the same phenomenon. But the folks who considered cleaning it (well, the only ones who would even come) said it can also have to do with dusty driveways or roads, tall trees, some of the other same reasons asphalt shingles get less attractive. I remembered one other consideration we had with our two decisions for these - asphalt shingles are heavier. Of course, your house is so young at only 40 (smile). Ultimately, we made our decisions of metal there and asphalt here to go with the look/architecture of the houses. Metal seemed to us to look best on the partially-frame, porched house and shingles looked best on the all-brick ranch.

Neglected to tell that dgdC came to see us yesterday, with her Daddy again helping her learn to be a driver of the four-wheeler. That's about as much independence as her mother is going to allow, lol. They had Yoo-Hoos (bought by HRH with dgdC in mind) and watched The Great British Baking Show with us, and ds did a few little chores while he was here. HRH said, "wait, wait, honey, did you shake that Yoo-Hoo real well?" And ds said, "I'm the one who handed it to her, and I've been a professional Yoo-Hoo shaker for years."

Procrastination tasks - mostly this would fall under Desk Day today.

Mystery… nope had to take the Linex system before installing the Windows

Years a go when Sweetie was working from home, his work was highly classified, with in his field. At the time Linex had great security protection

He collaborated with several other guys and they all used the same system. He designed many sensitive pieces of equipment for companies that needed that insurance. He worked for the casinos and design the first LED system used in the poker rooms Eventually all poker rooms in the US.

In the 70’s he designed disco floors and Playboy hired him to design several for their clubs. Sweetie has more than 50 patens to his name.

When I was outside last hour, we had some sprinkles falling. I would love to get rain, but it was barely enough to wet the pavement. According to the radar the little storm has passed over us and that is all we will get. I have been watering the garden every day because of the drought.

While cooking breakfast this morning I also cooked some chicken in a butter/bbq sauce. The ready-to-eat buffet food tub in the refrigerator is almost empty so I need to cook some other dishes. Hum....what to cook....

Floors are done.
Dishes caught up.
Washing machine is doing all the dirty clothes now

I got the duds out of the dryer and I"m glad for that progress.

Doggo has been in and out a couple of times.
I've been out to the mail box & back in again.

Had my bfast.
Clouds & barometric pressure not fun for me today

I've walked to the one corners all mud puddles and lower areas are full.
Still raining.
Had a snacky type lunch not very satisfying however.
Have most of my am steps in.

mac & cheese, chicken/cheese quesadillas, and raisin cookies made to increase the ready-to-eat food selection. I tasted some of each as the cook to know if the right ingredients were there. But after that i didn't eat them. Instead, I'm choosing to have my favorite soup for lunch.

RE: the age of the roof -- insurance man just said to me the other day, "It's sad, but an asbestos shingle that says it's a '20 year shingle' is probably going to last you 10 years; 30 year, you may get 15; and now they have some they say are 40-year, so they'll probably last 20." I had heard that before. It doesn't make any sense so I do know why they label them like they do. Also -- I'm pretty sure there was no written guarantee, but they did come back to try to fix the leaks twice that I remember, and never charged anything for that.
I have not contacted anyone yet for estimates. I guess that's my anti-procrastination task for the day.
No one here has wood shingles, either, Harriet. All I've ever seen is the regular asphalt/gravel-ly shingles and the metal roofs. There is one older house in town that I think may have some type of tile.
I am wondering about cleaning the metal, also, because I have seen some that look like they need cleaning.
I think metal would look fine on my house -- it is brick, but has the big front porch with a railing around it, only one story but the dormers make it look like there is a second floor. Kinda inspired by the Walton's, you know, if their house had been brick.

I was up ALL night, running to the bathroom. Finally took some Imodium at about 5:00 a.m. and when my alarm went off at 9:00 a.m. for yoga, I thought, I just can't do this. I need sleep and Imodium more than I need to stretch today. So I texted the group and went back to sleep.
Then the accountant called and wanted me to come get my tax stuff. I owe $2900, I think he said. I said I did not think I would owe that much now that I'm poor. He said, "You're not poor; it just seems that way because you have those grandchildren." I said that was right, my little broke besties.
Anyway, I thought I had to pick up dgs after school because dgd had a rheumatologist appt in Big City today, so I asked him if I could come tomorrow.
I finally got up, d2s, went to the church to sign some checks (this is pretty much a weekly task, but she tries to save it up for me on the yoga day when I will usually be there anyway.) Then I filled up the Tahoe, went through the car wash and vacuumed it, and went to Wmart to get dessert for church tonight.
DS/DDIL called and said they would be home in time to get dgs, so I'm free for a couple hours now.

I wish you could come fill my refrigerator with ready-to-eat foods, LadyM.

We're having the same weather as Twins, I think. It's a beautiful day, and the high is supposed to hit 79 -- but tomorrow and Friday, they are predicted 81 and 82! I told y'all, we have about 15 minutes of spring. LOL.

I should do a pro-con list after I have a few roofers give me some estimates.

Mystery, I'd be afraid to open that door too! A raccoon in the garbage at McDonald's is cute... a possible family of raccoons in the attic is terrifying!

I better start researching and writing down phone numbers for these roofers. Like Twins said, Someday is not a day of the week.

Got a few rows on my crochet project lavender this time.
I have 70's music on that helped to lift my mood.
Wrote more note in my writers note book I found when I was using my desk today.

Watched a movie.
Talked with dsis and the sr. center is closed tomorrow the regular cook has Covid.

LucyLee - has the insurance adjuster came to your home after the hail storm and did inspection of the damage? When we had hail damage (in 2020) that caused the roof to be replaced, the hail also caused damage to other parts of the house - window trim, garage door, fascia, siding, etc. The roof was just a part of the hail damage. When all the other damaged items are included then the contractor might do the repairs for what the insurance will pay. With hail damage, it isn't JUST about replacing roof.
It is my understanding that metal roofs have a wide variety of thickness and quality. Similar to 10, 20, 30, 40 year shingles you can go less expensive, but it has its own set of issues. About 90% of the homes in my little corner of the world have shingles. There are some metal roofs and a few clay tile roofs.
I contacted the owner of a local real estate company that I trusted and asked their advice about who to get to do the repairs. She gave us information that I never thought of. We ended up going with a project manager that handled all the repairs and coordinated the multiple contractors with the insurance company. Including the follow-up paperwork that is required for the insurance to pay in full after the repairs are done. The project manager negotiated with the insurance company to get them to give enough so we didn't have any out-of-the pocket expenses.
