Hi all! I definitely need a list today. DD33 woke me up and my usual schedule is now out of whack. I won the bid at the auction for a lovely American girl doll that Little Bit really wanted. She came with a beautiful Amish made hutch and lots of clothes. I need to get the area where the things are going to live cleaned out…. DD39 said they don’t have room at her house for it.

Hello, L.Ann! That sounds a lovely present for Little Bit, I'm sure she'll have hours of imaginative play. (American Girls dolls aren't common over here, but they are available , and some friends' little girls have them. They seem to be a lovely "traditional" doll.)


And I've done it! I've finally written my response to the DEFRA consultation, answered their questions , included my reasoning, filled in the "any other thoughts", and pressed Submit. I guess it's taken about 3 hours in total (2 hours now, and an hour reading the background information over the past few weeks), which isn't that far off their estimate of 4 hours (I'm a quick reader!). And it gave me a good excuse to sit in the sun.

Time to start on those pots now!

I AM socializing more today but wish I weren't.

We're still at the hotel. We got here around 9 last night after watching J12yo's swimming events at the state meet. She placed 3rd in 100 meter breast stroke for her age group, and both relays she was on got first place! She's definitely going to zones, the next biggest meet, this one between a group of states. And she has more races today and tomorrow so more events to qualify with.

We were at the meet 5:30 - 8:30ish last night. R ordered dinner for us all, and we ate in their room around 9 pm. That was a late dinner! We didn't go to our own room until around 10:30 pm. Dd27 was also here with Fable (Raven is in the room with the Cs), but she drove back last night. We decided not to drive 2.5 hours so late at night. We'll do that today. But first, we're going to visit a cheese shop and a grocery store that sells Dutch imported candies and hagelslag, like chocolate sprinkles! We hope to stock up on some Dutch goodies.

LAnn I had to smile at the American girl doll story. It's the story of my life. (Keep it at Grammy - we don't have room) Thus, I have a toy piano in my dining room, a miniworld greenhouse in the living room, a giant monkey on a fam. room chair, a giant kangaroo on the landing... dollhouse in master bedroom. And, we won't talk about the massive amount of paint/craft supplies in the pantry.
Little Bit will love the doll.

So - I woke up super early; dpup needed to go out at 5:30 . Went to sleep on the couch after - and slept in. (Couch is not back -friendly...)
Heating my back right now and then, dgkids are coming for a bit. Then, I will attempt a Pilates class (low-key version). Later, dpup will need a walk. We need to keep the momentum going. She worked with me very well around other dogs yesterday.
I should be able to accomplish something around here in the afternoon.

KitKat. I can’t really complain. When we had an exchange student about 15 years ago I moved out of the master bedroom and I like having the smallest room so I never moved back and the master bedroom became the guest room where little Bit napped so she considers it her room. I am pretty strategic about what gifts I give her because I know they live at my house!! American girl dolls aren’t as big a deal here as they once were kittykatt but Little Bit and her friend got really excited about all of the things that were included. It really is a lovely collection and a bargain at what I paid.

I need to get the dining room floor scrubbed this weekend now that my leg is better but realistically that won’t happen until tomorrow.

trissie, glad to know you can drink water again. Yes I rememebr you mentioning enjoying last year's Christmas present in a cooking class - wasn't it vindaloo chicken or something ? I tend to forget about gift vouchers. Fortunately I had made a note in my planner last year.

kittykatt, so your patio chairs are being used again ! Spring is definitely here, then.

L.Ann so Little Bit will have to be at your house to enjoy her doll ? With luck she will associate visits at her granny with playing with that doll, and in 60 years she still have that doll and cherish it dearly... I didn't have many dolls but I had books like that.

Hi to anyone I forgot and any lurkers !

The dishwasher is humming, the washer (laundry) is humming... the sun is shining, the boys are quietly reading.
The ceramic painting was fun, but also disappointing, it's difficult to paint on "crude" ceramic.And the paint itself wasn't easy to use, not creamy like acrylic paint, not liquid like watercolour... Anywyay, I had my thoughts to myself for almost two hours and that was good.
I need to make a realistic list of things to clean / declutter / straighten up before DUncle's overnight stay, and do some of those tasks this weekend, and the next. MrNG is going to be busy and won't be able to help, he feels embarrassed about the state of the house (his mom was a clean freak) and feels guilty that I need to do all the cleaning and washing and organizing. We were thinking about having the neighbours for dinner in a few weeks so maybe it's a good opportunity to try and do it.

Little Bit is at my house every week day so she will have plenty of time to play with the doll accessories, FFB. Ok, I found a link and the prices people are asking for them are shocking and not even close to what I paid, Trissie. https://www.ebay.com/itm/234095000902 It is one of the vintage Samantha’s and she came with at least 20 outfits, a ton of accessories like hats and purses, and an old fashioned school desk along with a gorgeous Amish made clothing cabinet and the series of Samantha books.

Helia, we used to have a cheese shop that raised their own cows and made a variety of cheeses. Unfortunately they retired. Wtg to your df on the swim meet!

FFB, I understand the need for time to yourself. At least the pottery class is done and you won’t have to deal with the gift certificate anymore. Hope the health issues are resolved quickly. Lunch out and shopping for fabric sounds relaxing.

Trissie, glad you have drinking water again. We are on well water so don’t have to worry about what the city does to its water supply, we worry about what’s in the air/contaminating the ground. It’s always something lol.
We also tested couches by laying on them in the showroom before a purchase.

No socializing here. It’s too people-ey out there. Spring has sprung and everyone has to get out. Lots of arts and crafts festivals. Lots of traffic accidents in every direction. I will get outside and enjoy nature in my own yard in a bit. For now it’s basics.

Thank you for another beautiful start, Kittykatt. That really is a lovely butterfly. I love the description of its strong flying. I picture it lifting small cars and flying off with them, with the occupants saying "I told you that we should have gone for an SUV!"
Well.... I don't know that I deserved to take the rest of the day off, but I did take it.

Awwww, what a sweetie Matilda is. This cat is clearly innocent of wrongdoing at any time in her life. Innocent, we say!

Emptied out small box/collapsed it and put it in recycling
Booted computer
Started moving devices back onto the Bell network
Gathered parts for portable speaker, labelled the cord and packed it
Found a heavier duty USB-C cable and set it up to charge tire inflator
Started a new system for organizing cables in the cables/charger pouch so they don’t tangle. It takes up more space.
Got a bigger pouch.
Looked critically at the bottom shelf of desk, which has got clutter creeping in to an inconvenient state. Thought about getting a small drawer unit. Would require a smaller drawer unit than any I have. Looked at the boxes and realized that I can use a pee pad box with frozen fish boxes as drawers or shelves within it.
Set it up under desk and moved things in to be properly organized later. Instant improvement.
