Think about what I'm going to grow in *that* patch, which is sloping and shaded now the climbing hydrangea is gone. Montbretia at the back are fine, with supports so they don't flop everywhere, and I can keep an eye on them to make sure they dont spread into everything. There is a hardy geranium that's looking sad, but it might do better with less competition and more light? Maybe I could just sow some low growing hardy annuals and see what happens? Waving to all... I don't know how "popping across the street" turns into a couple of hours, but here we are. I'm taking a break to eat and then I have to go back down and bring up the rest of the groceries. I am happy to say that I have brought back both basa and salmon for Germane.

We took one of the girls to a tattoo parlor to get her ears pierced and they refused, even with both parents present and approving. Apparently they had some bad experience with a child.
I’m excited to see what you found on the Bible, whenever you have time.

My break on the porch turned into sweeping it then clipping the dogs nails then bathing the dogs then watering the plants then washing the porch lol. Dh wanted me to help him carry some plywood so we put that in the shed and started seeing what’s what in there. It’s a mess. When dh’s mom had to go to a nursing home in 2024, his sister got evicted so we had to scramble to empty the house and property of 80 years of stuff. Some of it made its way to our shed and was thrown in hurriedly. We’ve been ignoring it. Will probably keep ignoring it for now unless dh piddles with it a little at a time. He did put some dishes in the suv to take to Hollywood. It’s a small start. And I’m rambling.

doggedly, I know you have said where you are, but I don't remember. I am in (southern) MN. Yesterday was a fluke! Today was just no fun to be out. I went to the indoor walking track and walked a little over a mile.
Then went to visit MrVKM, brought blueberry muffins so we could visit and have coffee and a muffin while we talked.

What I found out about the 1812 Bible you bought:
Mr. Charles Whatley (1930-2021) collected over 40 Bibles, and handcrafted wooden boxes to store them. I enjoyed learning this brief summary from various sources I found online.
The Bible itself is King James translation, which we all know as published in 1611, the best scholarship available 400 years ago.( Some words have changed meaning in 400 years, but the language is still beautiful.) The primary contributors to the commentary are listed as 4 men. I was able to find some information on each of them:
1. Matthew Poole. b 1624, d1679. A Presbyterian whose writings were very respected by Puritans.
2. Matthew Henry. 1662-1714. Also a Presbyterian and Puritan. Very much supported John Calvin's theology. A scholar who did much of the work for finding cross references throughout the Bible.
3. John Wesley. 1703-1791. Founder of Methodism, which became the Methodist Church, he strongly opposed Calvin's teachings, especially that of absolute predestination and determinism.
4. Phillip Doddridge. 1702-1751. Congregationalist. Known as a hymn writer. One of his hymns cited is the Advent hymn, Hark the Glad Sound, the savior comes. The savior promised long...

None of these would have discussed any ideas of rapture or dispensationalism, as those were ideas presented by James Darby who lived 1800-1882. Later 20th century scholars/ theologians have offered differing opinions. (Why that one particular point was mentioned, I don't know.)

Thanks Gma. I find it so interesting. I could never devote so much time to a topic and explain it in such detail for others to understand. It took a lot of effort. I had read it usually came with a box. Mine didn’t have the box. That thing would have to be very large and heavy. Maybe 2 shoeboxes put together for size.
