Mystery, we have two cherry pies in the works here, one baked and one refrigerated. At dd27's house, they baked over the weekend and my dsonil has sent photos of two fruit pies, one very well latticed over the top. So, he sort of threw down a gauntlet, lol. Art students, hrummph. ;) Outdoor temperatures have given a bit of a break, with yesterday being almost cool, so maybe one last feeling of "let's turn on the oven and bake" is happening? Actually, this morning I was craving cooked oatmeal, too, and it was warming and delish with stirred-in berries.

Oh, dear, blessed, that's too cool, isn't it?!

LadyM
, in the Fun and Games thread, kitkat mentioned a delay, too.

The sign arrived, and I got straight to work on painting. (Doesn't take me long to wonder whether I'd like to be crafty.)

So far, I may like the side I'm painting green better than the designed side, lol. I brush-stroked up into the top to look like growth, and when it started to dry went back in dabbing parts horizontally and it looks kinda natural. It says don't trust it outdoors for 48 hours, but it's dry... .. Seems fine to me. Will hold off until this evening anyway and certainly watch the weather.

LadyM, is there anything planned for your DS' graduation?
Neither one of the teens have the slightest interest in their graduation ceremonies. DD14 graduates this year from Jr High (9th grade) and they have a similar ceremony to HS graduation. cap, gown, walk across stage to be handed certificate from superintendent. DD14 is VERY reluctant to be a part of her public-school ceremony. So far, she hasn't absolutely refused to participate, but she doesn't want anything to do with it. I haven't decided if I am going to force her do it. I am careful with picking my battles and I can't decide if this is something I should choose. DD14 is currently a happy straight A student, and I don't want to make her do something that would change her feelings about school and learning.
I bought a cap & gown for DS17 to wear for his HS graduation, but he has no interest..... I wouldn't be surprised to find the gown being used as a rag in the shop.
Do I force them to participate in ceremony they want nothing to do with? Since they are both graduating it seems whatever is decided should apply to them both.
Where OH Where is that child raising instruction book with all the correct answers?

testing, testing...

Woo hoo!! I have been having a hard time getting in ever since that second post this morning.

Dh and I had a serious chat over coffee/hot tea this morning regarding how he couldn't even sweep the kitchen floor over the weekend. I also bought something he uses every day and I left the box on the counter beside the bathroom door ever since last Wednesday and he did NOT take it and put it away. I finally did that this morning. Any way... he says he'll try to do more.

Right now I am making supper and he is sound asleep on the bed.

I had to try a couple of times to post but got mine up with out too much trouble.
I have duds done two loads folded and put away.
Back was hurting had to take an aspirin.
Our walk helped.

I had to nap so glad I did and doing better now got up way to early today.
Lovely weather here today.
Time to take a stroll around the back yard and mowed the two small areas I did not get last time.
That should get me to my steps goal.

I used blueberry muffin mix for coffee cake it's excellent.

Board has been sluggish today but seems okay now.

I am just tired today - this may be first time that I went to workout and then was tempted to circle the parking lot and go home. I persevered and got in a decent workout. I woke up this morning just feeling stiff and achy. After my workout I was feeling something tighten up in my middle back, area just below right arm. I did lie on the floor for awhile just now and stretch a bit.

After workout I did get to plant nursery - purchased two hanging baskets of bright red geraniums that I will plant in the larger pots on either side of my sidewalk. It's been my experience that they do better with more soil. And some asparagus ferns for by the garage where it's shady, and red/white striped petunias to try either in back or on the front porch to one side. I'm not sure they will get enough sun on front porch. Also got a mint plant to replace the one that bit the dust last year. It had overwintered a couple of years. They had no basil plants - guys said they were cleaned out over the weekend, with new shipment coming tomorrow. I'll probably try to find one at Lowes, closer to home.

I left this sitting here. I wrote down menu for tomorrow evening - cheese/crackers and nuts, eggplant parm (purchased, favorite restaurant) green salad, foccacia from restaurant and a challah, and some creme puff things and cheesecake that dh purchased. :x Oh, and someone told dh they're bringing fruit....is that dessert or side dish? I have no idea what she will bring.

I had assumed I had dh at my disposal tomorrow but it appears he has things planned. I'm doing an Instacart order now for delivery first thing in the a.m. for what we need. Anyway, 10 people including us, the house is clean, and I'm keeping it simple.

Hurray made it

We didn’t do much today. I went to my class and later to an Alzheimer’s presentation here at our club house. The person putting it in was from the first place I took Sweetie to so I didn’t learn much.

Also took Sweetie to his Alzheimer’s PA. She ordered a new med to go along with what he is taking. It suppose to help his anxiety and frustration.

LadyM … when I was suppose to graduate when I received my undergrads degree I didn’t walk the boards. Had no desire to. However I did when I got my Masters. I didn’t do it for me but my son who was there.

I wanted him to see and understand anything is possible if you have a goal, stay focused and be courageous. He was with me through it all when I was a single mom following my dreams. That was the only thing that was important to me.

I finally cooked evening meal after waaaay too many nights of getting take out. IMHO food cooked at home taste so much better. Tonight I timed the meal prep to see how long it takes - it took 24 minutes to make BBQ chicken, mac & cheese (with 5 types of cheese) and green salad. It takes us twice that amount of time to get in vehicle and go get food. Last week I was spending between 80 - 100 a night on takeout. Tonight meal ingredients was about $10. Each night I ask "Thumbs up or down on the food?" All last week that question was answered with "thumbs neutral. It's okay". I didn't even ask the feedback question tonight because the comments were plentiful how much they like the food.
This past week has been a good reminder the many reasons I prefer to eat home cooked meals.
