Good afternoon!

A little slow this morning here. I was running behind even my usual no-school schedule, and DD, who's usually downstairs by 9:00, just came down. She fessed up to being the house elf who put away yesterday's dry dishes, allowing me to wash up my breakfast dishes without even thinking about it.

But it's noon, and I am here, so all is well with the world.

Well, all is well with the world here. (((Twins))) with her impending loss.

Mother's Day here was not much different than a usual Sunday, except that I got the kids to go to church with me, and they decided that we should have donuts afterward. They did not, however, pay for the donuts. Ah, well. We also, since DH wasn't home, got our weekly Chinese from the slightly-further-away restaurant that serves bubble tea.

Yikes! If Victoria Day is in a week, Memorial Day is in two weeks! I am nowhere near ready for planting. Once DH is back, I need him to go out with me to get boxes and soil for planting my zinnias/bachelor's buttons. There is also a native plant sale going on next Sunday at the park near us; DC, in particular, is interested in going. I might find something to join the geraniums (not pelargonium) and columbines near the back door. I'd like to find something that blooms a little later.

lucylee, I don't think the NOK box is morbid or even suggestive of impending mortality (well, any more so than the amount that mortality is impending for us all!). Just a practical idea that will come in handy in many circumstances -- including the "now, where did I put that important piece of paperwork?" As for hair, have you considered mixing two close colors? I used to do that when I still colored my hair -- my natural color was between a strawberry blonde/light auburn and a honey blonde/golden brown (I've been -- in the past -- called a blonde, a brunette, and a redhead) -- to get the just-enough-red.

I have dilly-dallied enough here -- I paused in the middle to get nibbles rather than a good, nutritious lunch  -- and should go wish DC a "good mornternoon." (And then we need to have a discussion about what a reasonable hour to wake up is for the summer.)

Have a great day, everybody!
I've got my country's 500th anniversary to plan, my wedding to arrange, my wife to murder, and Guilder to frame for it; I'm swamped. -- Prince Humperdinck

Memorial day is in two weeks away? I need to be leaving in two weeks for the National Genealogical Society conference in Indiana. Wow.

Ugh. Am I over thinking things again and making them more complicated than necessary? I picked the utilities category because I thought it would be one of the simplest straight forward categories to get me started. I only had papers from 2025 to process on water (trash is included on water bill), natural gas and septic system. I was expecting this category to be super simple.
Then i started listed all the utilities that the person taking care of our final finances (NOK) would need to handle and soddenly it has become more than I expected.
Water
Trash
Septic
Natural gas - 2 accounts - one for house and one for shop/generator
Electric
Cell Phones (4)
Internet
Cable
That reminded me of the monthly subscriptions....
Netflix
Prime
XBox gold
what else?
Expecting someone to step in and take care of all these utility type accounts seems like a lot! The least I can do for them is to have clear information including all the details (account #, how paid, how much, etc) in one easily accessible place.
Going through this exercise has an immediate benefit in that I am reviewing all these accounts and becoming aware of how many there are. Knowledge brings the ability to make better decisions.

I am setting up my NOK type information in a portable filing box. The box can be grabbed and taken to the cellar if bad weather or when the final actions are needed then the portable filing box with all the information needed can be taken by the NOK to their home.

I just remembered two more utility type systems to include....
** whole house water softener and filtration system
** we have 2 water wells on our property
How did a category that was supposed to be so simple become something unexpected.
Will all the categories expand like this?

The office called and bumped the appt up by a half-hour, which turned out to be fine, just stopped me from really accomplishing projects in a.m. as intended.

It was a long appt, so we still didn't get home any earlier than I'd thought. And it was harder on HRH than I'd realized it would be - more numbing because it was both sides. But except for frustration and some temporary pain, he's fine. I've gotten him to take a pain pill. There will be one more appt in June for something small, I don't remember.

After making that appt for him, I realized I'd better check my online notes and sure enough, more have been scheduled for me over the summer. Not a lot, but oddly on the same days (someone perhaps trying to help me?) yet in different cities (someone without a real clue?). Sigh. I just photographed the screen and sent the photo to HRH, lol, and he can be as amazed as I am.

Accepted another package for ds - perhaps something for ddil's Mother's Day was late.

Taking a break

Worked on two gardens and planted seeds. However even though I worked in shade the heat and humidity got to me.

Came inside and took a quick shower. My clothes were soaking wet with sweat.

Made lunch for the both of us.

Laundry’s complete

Work in the lania took more than hour.

Back inside for a moment and then will start on my kitchen. I hope I have enough energy to work on my mb closet.

I have 2 types of meat thawing but only one dish (beans & rice) ready to eat. So, I took DH to get fast food (chicken strip dinner) for his lunch. On the way home we stopped by the grocery store and restocked with minimum fruit & canned soft drinks to get us by for a day or two. I'm waiting for DD14 prescription to be ready at Sam's pharmacy and then I will do a big restock of fresh, cold and frozen foods.

I've decided to change the setup of NOK information. Instead of using hanging & manila type folders, I prefer to have the information in clear plastic sleeves in binders. I like the quick visual aspect of easily flipping through the see through sleeves in that type of setup. I will store the binders in the portable plastic file boxes to make them waterproof & easier to quickly gather/carry when necessary.
Over thinking again? Probably.

LM, would it be better to focus on the tax return for now?

I laid down awhile this afternoon with the dog. I don't think I slept. I don't feel like doing much but there's more to do and it would be good to get busy for awhile. I am mostly printing what I have for the meeting, and I'm going to take my laptop. I hope I can connect to the wi-fi there if I need to look anything up.

I need to walk the dog, the meeting is in two hours. Dh and I didn't talk about our supper for tonight but I think I'll take eggplant lasagne out of the freezer to thaw.

Went to one bank and paid all utilities.
Went to 2 grocery stores and bought a bunch of stuff.
Dealt with a DPC.

Currently making pasta and meat sauce. Sadly we have now run out of green and red peppers from the garden. I think we had more than 5 bags full.
