Good afternoon! Had a slightly interesting morning. DH had decided that today would be a good day to hike another stretch of the Buckeye Trail. Well, at the time he wanted to leave, it didn't seem like such a good day. It started a light mist, but when I asked DH if he wanted to take anything against rain, he said no, he'd be fine. Well, as we were driving to his starting point, the mist got heavier, then turned into a drizzle. Radar showed nothing, so we couldn't tell when it was going to pass. But it did ease up by the time we got to the start point. Then I was feeling doubtful because he hadn't taken his hiking poles. He said the terrain didn't warrant them, but I figured they would mark him as a hiker as he walked on roadsides (most of the trail is not paved, nor even dirt, just blue blazes on trees to follow along the roadside) through a very ritzy part of town (Taylor and Travis's neighborhood, if you can call anything with that many acres between houses a "neighborhood"). He said his water bottle would mark him as a hiker, and he was wearing a bright yellow t-shirt. So as it turns out, he neither got stopped by the village police nor run over, thank goodness, and the sun came out soon after he started hiking. He had an easy enough time of it that I ended up picking him up 45 minutes before his original estimate.

lucylee, if you are getting condensation inside your dryer, I wonder if you should check your vent?

I did not realize/remember, LadyM, that you got DS17 as a newborn. Glad these days are much less stressful. You've raised an amazing young man. (Though I must admit that my basis for that is what you've said about him :D -- still, you could be telling us all about how he has you tearing your hair out.)

blessed, do I remember correctly that like Rose, you've had success in putting one day's clothes in the dressing area?

I will have to check out the garden topic to see what you got, Harriet. I don't have much worth talking about myself, just keeping on thinning the plants as they grow.

I should have some lunch, but I'm not really feeling like much. I guess the Wegovy's working. I should at least have soup or something. Then dishes, then I should start a load of wash. Have a great day, everybody!

I haven't been able to get anything posted today. I haven't sat still long enough. There's a post on the downstairs computer from a couple of hours ago, lol.

I had a pedicure appointment at ten this a.m. so needed to be out of the house quickly. Finished a.m. routine just after returning home. Dh returned home last night - this a.m. he went to Rotary meeting then the chiropractor. He agreed to go to the cemetery with me (again) to verify the power wasn't working so we went when we were both back home. While there - we ran into our friend A (of V and A bestie couple). I called him yesterday for advice and he reminded me to throw the breaker back and forth and see if that got the outlet going - and he showed up to look at it for me. (He's a great guy!) We walked to the mausoleum and dh and A tried that lock again with no success.

I reported the issue to the electric board and they show it as an outage and apparently already have a truck there. (Can see the map of outages - it shows repair in process.) I need to go by after dark and see if security lights are working and report that if they aren't. Didn't realize it would be so easy.

Declined calling a number about an Apple Store charge. It appears to be a scam.

Art is coming for supper here with us - I took out steak to grill. I need to remind dh about cleaning up the grill and appears no propane! (It's always something!) His wife, V is going to temple tonight.

And electric board says issue is the outlet and we need electrician...

Home from DS17 doctors appointment.
I am stunned.
shocked
Can't grasp it yet.

The family doctor and I were having a conversation about Ozempic and side effects. He was telling about how it reduced inflammation all over the body but especially in the brain. He said it can affect Tourette. When the family doctor said that statement, I turned my eyes toward DS17 who was sitting on the exam table. It was that moment that I realized that DS17 didn't have Tourette tics happening. I am so used to seeing the tics that I didn't notice when they quit. I can't quit staring at DS17 now because there are no tics happening. DS17 has been having tics for over 10 years. We have tried dozens of medication over those years trying to find something that helps DS17 tourette tics. It never crossed my mind that Ozempic would be the med that stopped the tics. WOW. We went to this doctor appointment because DS17 wanted to stop taking ozempic. Now he is going to continue.
He will be adding Zofram, Imodium and psyllium to get relief from the upset digestive tract.

Mystery, yes, I should check the vent (on the dryer.) I did go outside and vacuum from that end as far up as the attachment (made for this purpose, a long narrow hose) would go. When the dryer is running, I do feel hot air out there, although it is not a super strong flow. Last night, I thought I would just look at it and I realized the dryer seemed to be pushed up to the wall more than it should be, so I pulled it out a bit, and I hope that will be enough to relieve any kinks in the hose. It is almost IMPOSSIBLE to take the hose loose and reattach it. The dryer sits between the washer and a built-in cabinet under the sink. I can't get my head in there to see what I'm doing, and it's too far to reach from the front of the cabinet and the dryer. There is a bit of a curve from the dryer to the hole in the wall where the vent exits the house, but it has been that way 41 years. Maybe by pulling the dryer out from the wall, I have opened up a little more space in that hose. SMH... as someone else said, it's always something.

Hmmm... that's Gilda Radner/Roseanne Roseannadanna, isn't it?
It's always something... either your bed is propped up on blocks or your dryer is a fire hazard. Sigh. * Don't worry -- I will not leave home or go to bed with the dryer running until I see that this problem goes away. I will need ds' father-in-law to come check this also, and I hate to bother him. My long-time appliance man/electrician/plumber recently retired and I'm at a loss as to who to call now.

(((LadyM))) with the sock and clothing mystery. I sooo admire your patience and wisdom in handling all that comes your way.
(LIkewise, Cathy & Rose, & Blessed!) Caregiving is such an exhausting and mostly thankless job. I really don't know how y'all do it. I have never been placed in a true "caregiver" role -- dh was, and dmom is still, able to take care of their daily needs. I just have to be "on call" for dmom and take her to occasional doctor's appointments.

I do have trouble focusing on that ONE rabbit. Sometimes, I just get overwhelmed by all the rabbits running around and I just give up the hunt.
However, today, I did one long-procrastinated task with DGS -- we updated ds' map of places he has played. I've also been to the post office, done my daily Bible reading, and drank my Metamucil. Ugh. (It seems to be helping, but I do not enjoy it.)
The next rabbit is the load of towels that have been piled on the loveseat in the den for several days.

I talked to the renter a while ago, and it seems that the air IS running, but the thermostat is doing something crazy and he can't tell where it's set. The ac man texted an hour or so ago and said we were next, so maybe this won't be a super expensive fix.

LadyM... I imagine it is kinda bittersweet seeing DS reaching adulthood after all you have been through with him. He does sound like such a mature, sensible young man and I predict he will stay close to you and LordM for all his life.
And WOW -- what wonderful news that the tics have stopped! Who would have thought? I hope the diarrhea calms down. Is psyllium what I'm getting with Metamucil? It does seem to be helping. I think that's the type fiber it has.
Tomorrow is another day.

Yes, Lucylee, I agree. Too many rabbits around here.

I packaged up a card to send to a long-time friend who is turning 95. Her dd emailed all - very small family party but encouraged us to send cards. I made a pretty one with a frilly ribbon bow and packed it in bubble wrap to keep it pretty. Then took to post office, and took ddog with me in car. She had a great time barking at everything, then we walked a lap.

Turns out that dfriend A isn't coming for dinner. V was going to temple with an older friend who needed a ride, and the friend backed out so V is staying home. We'll see them tomorrow for an afternoon show and dinner out.

Wow, benefits from the Ozempic! Was ds aware that tics were gone, LadyM?

Dh and I decided tonight would be a good time for pizza. We haven't had one in a long time.

I was positively elated at the Friday fibre group this afternoon. I am just so happy that dh is now on meds for his Parkinson's.

Then someone mentioned something about Ozempic and I realized that was what wasn't on my calendar for today. As soon as I got home, I told dh and he did it right away. I've already put it on next Friday's list.

It's really hot and windy here today.
