Good morning!
Thanks for the start Kittykatt - happy to hear about your cooler temperatures. :D
FFly 32C at night? That sounds unbearable. Glad things are settling.
Harriett I always wanted to learn to quilt. A wonderful skill to have.
Gma you do so many things well. Secretarial skills aren't for everyone. Hope you got your sleep.

Apparently, we are about to get our first heatwave next week. (I was quite happy to pull on a sweater last night before we went to dinner...)
Currently, gorgeous sunshine, 18 C,

Today:
I need to
pop in to market?
water porch plants,
fill the two containers in the basement
keep laundry going
bake muffins
take pup for walk
go to yoga
maybe ... start a hat? (crochet)

Morning all. I hope you are all ok. Yes the heat is hard when it's so extreme and you are not as accustomed. Here we're finally getting some summer. 25 ish Celsius mid day? It cools a lot at night and now it's raining again. That's ok cause it has been quite dry. Seems it rains but not much soaks in. The grass is dry in some areas.

Busy morning mostly made by me
Dh and ds planned to be at dad's by 9 to get that big sectional. It was just new when my kids were babies. Light grandparents use and then they changed things around got a new set for upstairs and it went to the basement. It missed the worst part of mom's decline cause she couldn't get downstairs. So way better than any of ours. Except it's big. I need to do a bunch of moving stuff first. I think I will empty the living room completely Except the TV. Vacuum the whole thing and see if I need to spot clean. Finding room so it can come in here without stuff in the way. All before we go out.

Good morning Laurlind and LAnn :D

Back from our coffee walk. Met DD and DGD for coffee with Dpup. I managed to carry my coffee cup home - that was good.
She was much more excitable on the busy street than during our normal (residential area) walks...
Not so smart dog owners let their dog come straight at her... did not care that I said she'd react. (Oh, he is friendly  - famous words). Thankfully, pup's reaction was mild: one bark.

Off to flip laundry - then to class.

Good morning! I am listening to my Saturday morning radio shows. I see that our hard working SHEs have gotten us to Page 2 already. :)

Thank you for starting us off, Kittykatt.

(((FrenchFly))) we have been thinking of you this week as we saw those temperatures day after day in France. I'm glad that the heat is starting to abate.

Kittykatt, it sounds like your schools' administrators are doing their best to keep the children safe with the resources available. I don't think that our schools are air conditioned either, which is surprising considering that hot summers are no surprise to us.

I remember those days, Gma! Also, there were two summers where Mom and kids went to stay at a cottage on the lake for the summer. We were moving often at that time, so we would move from our home to the cottage and then on to the new home. But other families did the same, and the father commuted from town every weekend.

And I remember running throught the sprinkler, Harriet. Enjoy your trip to the grocery store. Bring a chair and enjoy the cool. ;)

Kittykatt, I went through a stage where I was getting headaches in the heat and wondered if I was getting a sensitivity to heat. Then I realized that I wasn't drinking coffee because of the heat, and I was going through caffeine withdrawal. Now I drink my coffee in front of a fan like an Australian.

LOL, your DD is a wise one, Harriet!

That brings me to end of Page 1, and I think that I heard the rice pot click. [wanders off, smacking lips]

Saturday
Cleaned up after dog
Put away laundry bags
Put away laundry from clothesline
Swapped out napkin
Started a pot of coffee
Put away some dishes
Started making a pot of rice/grains mix
Moved heaven and earth, by which I mean the granny cart, a hand truck and the dw cart to get to the lentils in the back of the cupboard
Added some of my spiffy dehydrated vegetables
Found an open bag of rice in my travels
Tried to top up the almost-empty white rice bin: wrong rice
Fresh water for Germane in clean dishes from the dw
Put the rest of the dishes into drying racks to finish drying

How is the jet lag recovery coming along, L Ann?
Nice touch to add the veggies to lentils, Doggedly.
Oh dear, that was not a polite dog owner, kitkat. Fable met SO many people and we passed so many dogs walking the paved paths to the water falls yesterday (before we started hiking the wilderness path to the upper falls), that she got kind of overwhelmed. Or maybe dd28 did. . All in all, I think she handled it quite well, actually. Coffee with DD sounds nice!
That is a lovely thought of young dd27's, Harriet! That is definitely one thing to be thankful for! I love kids' perspectives on life! Over 100 -- stay cool.
WTG on all the home tasks, Kitty.

In the car driving home from our camping trip. Dd28 is driving again - but the weather is very different this time! It is sunny with fluffy sheep clouds in the sky! We had glorious weather yesterday - clear, nary a cloud in the sky, and temps weren't too high, maybe mid 70s. Today is a bit warmer. Temps in our own city, about 350 miles south of where we were camping (in the same state) will be warmer today, a high of 80F - still not bad. However, we're forecast to get above 90 every day next week, 95-97 for 3 of them. For us, that is unusually hot.

We saw beautiful waterfalls yesterday. There was a 4 mile hike from the lower to the upper falls which we started but aborted about 1.5 miles in because we hadn't brought bug repellant with us. We were hiking through forest alongside the river where it was warm, muggy - and quite mosquito-y. It had rained the night before. We ate a late picnic lunch at a small rec area on the shores of Lake Superior. Fable went wading in the lake. :). It was lovely!!

It's back to reality today.

TADAs
Up and dressed
mission quilters at church - tied 1 quilt
checked Mother's house and yard
Ate breakfast at noon
mailed 10 envelopes
passed the Washington Post American history and government test 98% (missed one where the answer was D- all. I only read as far as A so marked it)

Heading to dfBS house, then Sam's club, Hobby Lobby, Hallmark, then to visit dfBS at the care center.
As soon as I water my newly planted bean seeds.

We are having what I think of as a lovely day - slight breeze, 80F, sunny. I love summer, tho I too will wilt with the temps of 100 most of the time.
