L.Ann, I still can't get over the fact that Little Bit will be starting school!
helia, I actually have two shelves of homemade goodies in the kitchen pantry and 2-3 in the garage :-) Our little garden is big on fruit and everything tends to ripen at the same time.
Dogged, I think my husband is just tired of it all. We'll all feel better once DMIL is in a home.

TaDas
- dinner
- evening routine
- watering - veggie garden, flowerpots

ToDos
- bathtime & storytime with DBD
- deadhead roses
- make one batch of cherry-sour cherry jam

Hello everyone!

FFB, today I had roast beef for lunch out, and DH had steak and kidney pie. The vegetables were roast potatoes, carrots,. cabbage,.peas and cauliflower cheese. I also had Yorkshire pudding and gravy. We didn't have dessert.

Trissie, all your canned goodies sound delicious! I'm sorry about all the family drama.

Harriet, I'm glad.you enjoyed today's architect!πŸ˜€

KitKat, Ikwym about people not listening to the word "no". Freddie really does not like dogs especially at the vet. I have lost count of the number of times I've had to tell people with a curious dog who is getting his nose too close for comfort to Fred's carrier, and well within swiping range, that Freddie doesn't like dogs, only to be told that it's ok, as the dog in question is very good with cats!

L.Ann, Little Bit is growing up quickly! How sweet of her to be potassium monitor!

Helia, I'm sorry your birthday hasn't been acknowledged. Sending you some flowers πŸ’to make up a tiny bit.

Dogged, you're right, being invisible is definitely a super power, and it's also very freeing. I've also found it's accompanied by a tendency to be less tolerant than previously of other people's nonsense! ( Or maybe that's just me!)

Church was very good - our curate was ordained priest yesterday, so conducted her first communion service today. The coffee problem I'm sorted itself out - SV offered to help out - so thoughtful of her. DF E was in good spirits, and DH and I had a nice lunch out. I had a very peaceful afternoon, I folded laundry and PA, weighed out the Girls' food for the week, and out up my supplements for the week. And then I had some time reading on the bed. I've been out in the garden this evening, and it's much cooler!

The fact that your outgoing DH is also feeling overwhelmed by all of the socializing says a LOT, helia. It's good that he is on the same page as you, with plans to cut things back a bit.
I can relate competition for the washing machine and dryer, living in an apartment building. The irony is that M. is trying to be a considerate tenant and cleaning up after herself and her guests--right when you need the machine.

That sounds like a solid plan that takes care of the dchildren but doesn't block you from things that you need to get done, L.Ann.

I hope that happens soon for your DMIL, trissie, so that you can all breath a sigh of relief that she is being cared for and that it doesn't all fall on your DH. (and you to pick up the slack)

That sounds like an awesome restaurant, Kittykatt.
LOL, you are right about losing the ability to suffer fools gladly, Kittykatt. Maybe the middle aged cloak of invisibility is nature's way of protecting fools from us off.
Congratulations to your curate!

Sunday
Made coffee
Cleaned up after dog
Changed out kitchen towels and cloths
Scrubbed out sink and basin
Washed a few basinsful of dishes
Heart pill for dog
Researched how to turn off that annoying screenshot popup that keeps interrupting me and turned off its shortcut
Put away the dry tshirts
Put the rest of them out to finish drying
Put away dry dishes
Wiped down accessible surfaces
Sprayed the counters and gave them a good wipe
Extracted the rock hard brownies from the pan, which was a lot easier than I imagined as it came out as a solid piece of chocolate hard tack. Discarded it and soaked the pan
Showered/washed hair
Quick scrub of tub
Called radio call in show. Was not chosen, but listened to the end just in case.
Put dishes away
Scrubbed out sink and basin
Washed a few basinsful of dishes

Kittykatt - the owner who lets his/her dog up to Freddie's crate is irresponsible with their dog as well. The dog who "likes" cats might be very wary after a negative encounter... My dog does not mind cats - only ever seen them from a good distance. At the vet, I keep her on the "other side" to keep both comfortable.

helia you don't get a break. It's one thing to be active, going out, inviting people over. It's another not to have your place to yourself. Need time for quiet thoughts, to let loose, to be comfortable....

I forgot - was it Dogged who asked whether the trees were for privacy? I think they are but make little sense as there is a high wooden fence between us... and, I have trees on my side too ... although not quite a row... Oh well - it does not bother me.

trissie sounds like still no resolution in the MIL -saga... Sorry to hear that -
Did I misread RESET or was it a misprint? It does not really matter, main thing is you got a break.

Harriet - potassium is a tricky thing: too much is as bad as too little...
LAnn - LittleBit keeping track of it is too sweet.

FFly - hope you are done with the crazy heat.

I never got back here:
did class, farmers market, two short walks with DPUp (getting warm out there), went out with DD and DGD, spent more time in the basement, 3-4 lol, put away some games, put away some craft supplies, set up a shelf next to the washer for random supplies there...
Gathered useful items to give to DGkids - so, a fairly productive day.
Waiting for Dson, then one more outing for pup. (on leash as bunnies are VERY active)
LOL to dryer. Then, I'm off to read (Ann Patchett).
Have a good night everone

Reese's pieces are chocolate and peanut butter ( plus sugar etc) which are both good sources of magnesium, another electrolyte we need good amounts of for muscle cell firing, cardiac stability, and most people don't eat enough of the foods that are good sources. Almonds, dried beans ( cooked), lentils, chocolate, peanuts, kale, are often listed as good sources.

I've been picking up sticks at my house after this morning's storm. Mowed the front yard. Checked Mom's yard. Big branch down from 65 year old maple tree. Ds will come tomorrow with his chain saw to help me with it.
How blessed I am to have a wonderful son.
