July2026 - Declutter and Organization

Post by Harriet »

Here we are at the half-way point of 2026. 31 days of potential stretch ahead of us, with opportunity to make a lovely home even more your oasis. If the heat is pretty impressive where you are, does it offer you an opportunity to be indoors doing some of the PROJECTS that you've planned?

How are you measuring your success nowadays?
By the distance you travel around rooms in your declutter quest?
By checkmarks or other written progress charting?
By number of bags or boxes?
By contributions to Goodwill, book drives, other donations?
By organizing or using attractive or simpler-looking storage?

This summer I"m doing a new card the Daily Declutter!
Even one item is a win and 31 items makes a difference
especially if its in one area or a specific zone!

Started in on the stack [stash] & dash room aka butterfly room.
My "office" or writing room.
Surfaces work space table I use as a desk, 3 dressers, and another desk all stacked with journals
papers, planners etc. so I've been doing rounds in there.

Got the work station table usable Wed. & yesterday again had to work on it some more.
Worked on the 2nd desk in 1/3 rds and today I see that I've made significant progress on that!
It took an hour could not sleep so got up while it was still dark made coffee and started in on it.
Now I have it tolerable yea!

Sorted writing stuff from other planner items helped.
Full m.p. notebooks are ready to go to the basement. X
Bujo and journals that were full out of there helped.
I put away books I'd read and gotten notes out of too from the first part of the year Q1& Q2.
Also helpful!

Found refill pages for the planner I'm using, and the other one that's my bujo yea!
I'm reviewing my planner stack with renewed hope again now.

I pitched two books today.
Tossed two more yesterday.

Love that new cardfile card for Daily Declutter, Nancy.
By checkmarks or other written progress charting?

This is still me. Although I definitely have a card for decluttering, it's meant for the week. (The cardfile is my anchor!) But I am also still trying to keep the planner, where declutter is one of the 6 things I have spaces to check off every day in a stamp "my tracker". That little chart is literally the only stamp I own. Up at the top of page, I just write the name of the Focus area and then put upcoming declutter area in parenthesis beside that current room. Like now it says " Mud Room (storage) ". I had tried stickers, etc., to get my attention and remind which rooms for the week are for Focus cleaning and for declutter. But I find that I don't have time for cuteness so much right now. :| Maybe some other time.

It's good to read you feel more hopeful about your planners and that you found the refill pages for bujo and planner. I'm a little discouraged when I look at my stack of various notebooks, planners, from the past but honestly, I can get reminders and help from glancing back through. Most are stored but the most recent are close by my desk.

A TaDa from the Mud Room week was working on declutter and organizing of shelves there. For instance, I had procrastinated assembling the new pet carrier that was just on the shelf there waiting, and now I've got that assembled. Helpful.
