Wow, this board was on fire (the good kind) yesterday -- there's even the little fire icon on the ...index? not sure what to call it. I guess it's the board, and this is the thread, but you know what I mean.

Yet another day discombobulated. I must redo my sleep/wake times for the school year. I could not get up when DH left -- fortunately, he wakes up on his own, because for the second day in a row, the smart speaker did not turn on to wake him. We had had it set for 7 am for the summer; now he needs it at 6. So I changed it, and it didn't go off. I tried it again at a different time, and it worked just fine. So I set it back to 6 and made sure I saved it, but again, no radio. We switched to the smart speaker from the clock radio because our NPR station was involved in a frequency swap; it merged with another nearby NPR station, and now it's available multiple places on the dial, none of which come in really well here. Anyhow, I fell back asleep, like yesterday, and today, I needed to get DC up early.

DC has gone to the amusement park with a friend. It's a 1-1/2 to 2 hour drive, hence DC getting up early. We were up late last night because after DC got home from practice (about 10:30), we went to the drugstore to get them a prepaid credit card. The amusement park is cashless, and they can't find their card. It's probably somewhere here; they checked online, and there's been no activity, so thank goodness for that. Getting in touch with the bank is on the agenda for tomorrow. I think they can create a new card for them on the spot and close the old one.

I normally keep track of how long it takes me to get things done, and when I redo my cards, I take the average; well, today, I have the timer going in the other direction to try to get things done in the allotted time. So forgive me if I end a bit abruptly.

I am afraid to click Twins' link for fear of losing this post -- I will have to check it out when I'm done posting. Way to go, Twins and Nancy for knocking so many things off the list!

Grocery order is on my list today, too, Harriet. I really must finish it. I'll need to run out to pick up something for dinner. I can't ask DH; he already called needing a break from a doozy of a day. He forgot to click a particular check box, so 150 schedules need to be reprinted and distributed.

Sorry it wasn't better news from the doctor, LadyM, but I suppose that could not have been expected. Glad your sciatica is better.

CI / am in the 1st part of an audio book Deep Work .
Clicked the wrong one on the 2nd part got one that was having so many adds ack.
It was more of a summary so glad I got back to the original one. I was going to buy this book.
The only problem is that it's interrupted progress on the book with pages I was reading.
The good news is that I could knit while listening and that help me distress from an ongoing issue
I'm trying to work through and release...sigh. Oh well better now than I was this morning.
Had lunch.
Got a pen pal letter done and it's ready to go out in the mail in the morning.

We arrived back in town 3 minutes before DD15 walked out of the school door. I was congratulating myself on the good timing when the phone rang. Sam's club was calling because someone found our prescription meds that we left in the grocery cart in the parking lot. ***sigh** I asked if they would take the package of prescription meds to the pharmacy and we will pick it up from there ....again.

I was a little distracted in Sam's parking lot as we were loading things into the vehicle. The vehicle temperature said it was 126F inside. I wanted to get the a/c blasting so it would cool down to a more reasonable temperature before we got into the vehicle.

We had a weird experience on the drive home. We were doing 85mph when a ??baby tornado?? came out of nowhere and scooted our vehicle over into the other lane. I don't think it picked our Odessey up because I didn't feel it drop down. One moment we were in left land and then ***BLINK*** we felt the vehicle move and we were in the other lane. It happened so fast that there was no time to respond and then it was over and we were traveling down the interstate like normal.
There is a range fire (7k acres) on the military base a couple miles from us, and many locals are posting picture & videos of what they are calling "smoke nados". They look like skinny tornados everywhere. I can only guess that one of those is what caused our vehicle to move. I am a native and have been through many tornados, but this was weird.
Alls well that ends well.

What is the deal with HP printers? after being so obtuse last week about the cartridge this week I'm having to figure out how to turn off AI. The pring job opens an app to "optimize through AI" which then fails and cancels the print job. What a pain! I think I have it squared away.

I've gotten a bunch of things done, not all anti procrastination but I am making progress.

I have Rosh Hashanah invites ready to go through Paperless post. I had most the emails in there for last year so that simplifies things.

clarified with dneighbor college student that he can't dog sit for us next month

went to the bank and deposited cemetery check I picked up yesterday because I am writing checks for the last of the construction. At least they're written and ready to be dropped off at the temple when everything is finished up. Wrote a check to myself for some cleaning solution that I purchased to clean some grave stones before taking a photo.

Thought I posted earlier today but realized it was a text to my friend.

Saw Josh this morning and agreed I need to start doing strength training. I will do it twice a week with him starting next week and I’m excited.

Came home and left again to take Sweetie to his neurologist PA. She added another med to help with his memory and frustration behavior.

Came home and mad lunch for everyone.

Had a lengthy morning conversation with my son. He is frustrated with his home life…his house is in physical chaos and his kids behavior is out of control. Unfortunately all problems point to his wife. She’s a firm believer in gentle parenting with no consequences.

Their home is much like what Lucylee describes of her family, but it does bother my son I just let him vent, offered some advice or suggestion when asked and otherwise kept my mouth shut.

Thankfully my son’s therapist has strongly suggested marriage counseling and my son has agreed. Fingers crossed his wife does too

This afternoon we both had our own showers and then we both had naps. I woke up after 6!! Thankfully we were having a cold supper so very little prep other than setting the table and we used paper plates tonight.

All I have to do is a few dishes need to go into the dishwasher from earlier today.

There is another fire it is smoky again dang!
I have seen on fb that the fire is on the other side of the river in the other county.
Air support has been called in for dealing with it.
100 & 103 the on Fri. Thurs or sat. too forget which.
That is why I went out to do errands yesterday.

Napped again.

LadyM, wow that is amazing to think a wind can do something like that. so glad you are safe. So, the time for the package to be in the parking lot was short? I hope it was okay in the heat.

Ramblin', sounds like a plan you will enjoy with trainer. Sorry your grands, ds and ddil are wrestling with the span between accepting and ordered. There are a lot of spots on that spectrum that are okay, but everyone does need to be on the same page. Good job on listening.

Mystery, thread or "topic". How did the timer going in the other direction work out? I think it was Twins' who very much enjoyed using pomodoro timer.

We had a call from ds, who wanted to come over with the kids and ask HRH about an old, venerable card game, Magic. Some of his work friends are playing it these days, and ds remembered HRH knew a lot about it. DgdC has decided she wants to study mechanical engineering. I told her about Rube Goldberg machines and we laughed about those. In actuality, the real, old/classic RG cartoons were not always as child-friendly as Grandma would like - remembered that later when I looked them up.

We will be out the door early in the morning for HRH's appt with kidney dr who is retiring (love him) and to have him introduce us to the new dr.
