I'll update lists later. I'm just running through, taking a breather before I start dinner - about 30 minutes later than I had wanted, I must say. . .

I succeeded in picking up the girls! They seem cheerful and happy and are now downstairs in K's room. I just whooshed them out of the kitchen where they were watching me unload groceries. I think they wanted to help - maybe another night. :)

Thank you for the vegetarian encouragement, Lauralind and CL! Dh and I actually have some vegetarian recipes we eat regularly, like the curry lentil soup we're eating tonight. To be honest, we're not huge meat eaters, and we rarely eat red meat. I'm actually looking forward to trying new recipes. :)

Next:
- make dinner for 5 - M is joining us
- dinner: curry lentil soup, rice, salad
- after dinner clean up

I got all excited about a potential new tenant for the school year. A visiting professor, perfect. But he has a wife, and I only have a twin bed. That can be dealt with, but the college also has furnished apartments, and not enough students to fill them, so they offered one to this visiting prof. :( so I'm out of luck for that tenant. I found out what the college charges - I think I will undercut them by $50, and hope for the best.
But I did get another inquiry today, the daughter of someone at church, who has finished her university and wants to have an apartment instead of living with her parents.

Other than that, I don't have much to report for the day.

Hmmm too bad it didn't work out for the professor. Hopefully that other girl will work out gma.

I'm being really slow. I have clean sheets. Should just start that other small load. Clean kitchen. Tied up my monks hood etc outside. Some shopping. Now I tried to vacuum. I think I'm going to discuss with dh tonight and make my mind up maybe I can get one tomorrow. Online looks like we sold the canister but the stick vacuum is in stock. I just can't decide. It's got to be tough enough for samoyed hair... my living room looks a bit better but it's all in the hose..
After I cleared it once. I can't get it apart anymore.

The robot might be fun. Would it actually work?

Is the monks hood something you're making, Lauralind?
I hope you can find a good tenant without too much hassle, Gma.
Little Bit knows what's important, L Ann.

I'm sitting on the sofa struggling to stay awake. I think I'll head to bed soon - I'm SO tired. I think I was a little stressed about getting things ready for the girls' arrival. Now things are ready and they are safely here, my body is relaxing -- maybe.

I have no idea how much 4 people eat or what these girls like to eat, so I got a LOT of groceries from WF. I still need to get some things from Kroger - maybe tomorrow?

Dh and I enjoyed the curried lentils over rice. The girls - I'm not so sure. They didn't eat much. But then again, they are jetlagging. M played Uno with them after dinner as they were trying to stay awake until close to 9 pm.

M is talking about taking them shopping at C***co tomorrow and eating hot dogs and pizza there for lunch. LOL! She's going to do a better job showing them this country than we could do. She's much closer to their age than we are. She's not busy this week. Her grad classes start next week.

Helian monks hood is a ginormous perrenial. Down in the lower section where it's been for 20 years it grows seems more than 6 feet. I put a couple clumps in the front new bed. Big and full bloom and falling everywhere. Probably be stronger next year when it starts from the root. My bed is all in full bloom now. It's super full . It grew huge but I put some shorter stuff behind big stuff and let the malva grow wherever. That is almost as tall. I think like a hollyhock. Black eyed Susan in full bloom atm too. I filled the front with petunias and alysum . Pansy. And put in some seed of forget me not. My phone tells me that is what is coming up now that looks very different from the tiny start I found from down below. Fall task.. figure out how to place things a bit better.

Now well see dh phone gave thunderstorm warning just as I came back again... it isn't yet. Apparently the drain didn't keep up by the store this morning... dh was mopping.

helia, I'm glad that M. is helping with your guests.

L.Ann, I'm glad that Little Bit had a good first day.

Gma, a single girl from your church could work out very well. Fingers crossed!

Lauralind, your garden sounds wonderful.

I had messaged my bff that I can't go to the S&B tonight because of car trouble, and she msged right back that she could drive me. That was very nice, as she normally walks there, so had to drive out of her way to get me. I'm glad that I went. We had such a big turnout tonight! In the past, the highest number who attended was five. Tonight there were almost twenty people there. It made it a lot of fun.

Tomorrow my main thing will be to take Germane to the vet. I'm mad at the weather. It's going to rain with the possibility of a thunderstorm, so I'll have to wear my raincoat at least, and possibly boots. But the humidex is forecast for 30 C, so it's going to be a miserable walk, and for Germane as well. She absolutely won't wear a coat, so her only shelter will be that she's tucked under my arm.
If I'm lucky, I'll be able to get the hood of the car up and find that the brake fluid is at an acceptable level, in which case I can drive her. If I'm not lucky, then it's the walk with a dog under my arm, and be grateful that the vet's office is close enough that I can walk to it.

Wednesday
Gave Germane her heart pill
Cleaned up after dog
Washed floor
Put on a pot of coffee
Tested out watercolour effect of markers
15 X 3:
Re-sort the dirty laundry into separate colour washes
Stopped frequently to follow Germane around, pick her up, position her on pee pads or in front of breakfast
Cheese and pills for Germane
Checked info about brakes online
Found the French version of my car manual and looked up how to check the brake fluid
Now I’m wondering why I know that the French word for brakes is freins? Do I know the word for steering wheel? No. Gas pedal? No. Hood? Well, I do now, LOL.
Messaged df that I won’t be able to make it to Stitch N Bitch tonight.
Df offered a lift: accepted
Showered/washed hair
Treats and food for dog
Went to S&B and had a wonderful time

Food, water and treats for Germane
Washed floor
Cleaned up after dog
Put salmon on to cook for Germane
