Finally Friday

Not so much energy going today and my back is already hurting. I wasn't able to start the challah because we're out of butter - I knew we were out on Sunday when I sent dh to the store but apparently didn't write it down. I need to wait until the guy is done with the attic bats before I go out.

Ahhhh! He's done! I'm going to go change and head out to grocery on the mountain - I'm not up for a full fledged trip to Wmart right now..

** Spent 15 minutes in the kitchen closing it out from breakfast
** Spent 30 minutes with LO doing cutting, pasting and puzzles
** Spent 60 minutes outside watching LO play, moving extra fence post to a storage location, moving sprinkler to a different spot (2 times), weed eating until the battery ran out of juice, walking one of the smaller pasture lot fence line, moving some broken tree limbs and tin.
** Spaghetti squash baking
** Pizza ingredients prepared - vension crumbled and cooked, 2 kinds of peppers cut and cooked, onions sliced and sauteed, pineapple chunks readied, pepperoni readied, lavash readied, sauce readied, mozzarella cheese readied. LO pizza is baking now, I will put ours in to bake when DH arrives home for lunch. Now to just keep LO out of the pineapple chunks so there will be some left to put on the pizzas!

Harmony: I think in the back of his mind, dh is prepared to make this a two day class and then spend as long as the students want, answering questions on the third day. He still hasn't written exercises, but that stretches a course out too. (Our first course was 2 days of lectures and those early students complained, so it was made into 3 days with exercises and it was still too dense so now it is 5 days but we get fewer students because most people can't take 5 days off work!)

I've puttered a bit around the house, putting some stuff in the shed, washing my sandals, handling a church matter, making lunch and folding laundry. Progress but nothing I can shine a light on. It is windy here and the sound of the trees is stressing me (I really mind wind noise.) It is also sunny so that's why I washed my sandals since they can dry on the porch.

I think I'll read for 30 minutes there (it is out of the wind and in the sun.)

Harmony - BWTG on staying up with monthly and quarterly tasks. YOU ROCK!!!!!

No rain here.....yet. They say we have a chance for some moisture in about 10 days. It just keeps getting worst so I try not to harp on it (keeping those negative thoughts in my head longer than absolutely necessary). DNeice and her husband are in process of trying to sell their dairy herd.....this is a fourth generation family operation that is coming to an end because of the drought. They only have 2 weeks of feed left. They have received ONE offer - $900 each for best 100 cows that are hand picked from their milking herd of 240. The rest will go to slaughter if they don't find someone to buy them. For those who aren't in that field - this is an AWFUL offer. About 1/4 of what the cows in this herd would normally sell for. DNephew is in his 40's and has never worked off the family dairy one day of his life. He now is interviewing for a job in the oil field. This is just one small example of the many effects the drought is having in this area.

We are waiting, waiting, waiting.

Oh, OKay - so terrible about the dairy herd. I so hate to see dairy cows in the feed pens as I know what their fate is. Somehow it is not so bad with beef cattle - But I loved my dairy cows. Of course I feel even worse for the dairyman and family. It is so hard to change at that age.

So far today we have gone for a long walk. Sat and talked with some of the neighbors. Taken the mail for the park to the post office. Driven around the park some more. Talked to more neighbors. Now we are just sitting waiting for the phone to ring. Somehow the longer it takes her to accept our offer the more I'm afraid she will reject it.

I'm going back to lose myself in a book - it makes the time go faster.

I started my 30 minute timer, put the lunch dishes in soak, tidied the kitchen and then read until the timer went off. I was on the porch and during that time we had a little rain shower so I was glad I was out there in order to get my drying sandals out of the way of the rain.

Put away the folded laundry and cleaned the bathrooms.

Wrote out two recipes for my niece, and put those plus the gift receipt for her multi-cooker in a card telling her the history of the recipes (one was Grandma's, the other my easy-adaptation.) That is now in the mail bag, ready to be posted.

My heart breaks for OKay's neice and nephew. The loss that is not tangible is the worst to me, because I know for my ddad, the improvement of the herd meant so much and he spent decades planning and strategizing his improvement program. Any one cow might mean so much than an outsider could see, because of her important place in a "line" of healthier and stronger breeding, that was mostly cataloged in my ddad's head. And he meant so much to the cows, too - they often wouldn't let their milk down for others, feeling stress. They didn't want anyone else with them to "pull" calves, and you could just get into all kinds of problems if the same persons weren't there to monitor their health. It's a big deal to sell a cow. 250 is a nice herd - Holsteins? I think that's about how many my ddad sold when he and his brother went out of dairying. No, that's a lousy price, who would believe it. Could they consider an auction? That's what dFarmingCousin did in 2001 when he sold out. But that wasn't hard times.

We've got a house!!!

It is 1:38 and the buyer had until 2 pm!! But she accepted our offer and we will close around mid-November!!

We thought sure the offer was being rejected when she waited so late to call. But they didn't even come back with a counter offer - they just accepted our offer.

Oh, BTW - I'm not saying anything on FB yet about it as our neighbors at Eden Park don't know we are leaving. I think I'd better tell them in person.

Time to go celebrate.

We are back from town,
we've had lunch out after the park we picked up #5 of
acorns for the squirrels here. Got a few things at the
store will be going back as we have a showing this
afternoon - evening. We are having fun with grandkids
today!

We went to their house got the dishes going, Brought trash can in from the curb & dumped the trash, made beds, picked up a couple of hot spots there.

Dgson is playing outside, dgd is playing inside, h. is sweeping and getting the place all spiffed up outside. I put away the crock pot.

I need to remember to change to the new hand towels, and a few things inside here, staging will wait until later on in the afternoon.

The guys have to take a load to the dump.
I need to go to the orchard near by and get some apples.

Went to a yard sale got a nice pink gater print bag for my stash and dash moments!
The plan to get the house ready by Fri. is working yea for a plan.

YAY EMPTYNESTER! I could tell you really really wanted this place. You mentioned putting pictures of it up but I guess I missed them somehow.

I had a terrible scare today. We went to lunch today for the first time in a week. Our colds have kept us housebound. After we ate we stopped for some groceries as we usually do. When we got home the house smelled so stuffy and hot I asked DH to turn on the swamp cooler while I opened the diningroom window. After putting groceries away I realized that my Womens World and a cute "talking" card I had purchased for dggd were missing. I went to get my purse to get the receipt out and I couldn't find my purse!! Gasp! Choke! We hunted all over and finally got in the car to go see if my purse had been turned in. (Of course DH is seething and lecturing me like I was a 2 year old.) Got there - no purse! I was sick to my stomach. All my credit cards, my wallet and pictures, my drivers license, well you all know what a sickening moment that would be. Got home and DH walked into the dining room - by the window I had opened - and there it was on the chair. I can't tell you the relief I felt. Next time I will do what I always do - set my purse on the counter before I walk anywhere else. I am thankful!

DGGD opened her Hello Kitty talking birthday card and listened to the song and then said "This is a cool book!" She was overjoyed and if she said it once she said it a hundred times. She liked it better than the shirt and Crocs. I am overjoyed when she is happy! (I did find the magazine and the card at the store.)
