I'm back and I survived the holidays with DD9. Thursday, we went to XDH's for turkey and she wanted to stay there even though she was supposed to be at my house. We decided to let her and I got her lunchtime on Friday. She wanted to have a friend come over and play Legos, so we did. That got boring after an hour so we went to the park. Then they wanted a sleepover, so DD spent the night on Saturday and they came to my house on sunday. I had a nice dinner with a childfree friend while DD was at her friend's. After the friend went home I dropped DD at XDH's. The only blot on the holiday was that I asked XDH if he and DD wanted to eat with me and he said no because he wanted to get DD back on schedule for school. Not a problem until I called one of my girlfriends to see if she wanted to get something to eat. She was at XDH's house eating dinner there!!!

Today I have installed a program liscense and am doing the program tutorials.

Elizabeth, I am in a royally unhappy mood right now. Perhaps that is why I butt in here now and tell you that I think you should unceremoniously dump this friend who, following the divorce, has obviously chosen XDH over you. Friends of course sometimes end up "choosing" between the two halves of the couple and staying friends mostly with one, it just happens. But it must surely be depressing for the other "half" to be faced with it too much. And this being a female friend choosing your dh rather than you, or at the very least not letting you know when she intends to be at his house, is even more likely to depress you. I worry about you even considering issuing invitations to her, because you deserve to have pleasant, happy days for yourself and she doesn't seem to be able to fit in with that. You deserve better. And an evening with the cats, tv or a good book would be better. Cleaning the cat box would be better. Defrosting a refrigerator would be better. Cut her loose.

Harriet: I am not sure she is the rat here. XDH was the one who got rid of me and invited her. When I called her, she answered straight away, even though she had caller id and made no secret of where she was. I did ask her if they were dating, she said no. Her son is DD's favorite friend and they were playing. I want to stay on good terms in case she becomes DD's stepmother. Ugly situation isn't it.

((Elizabeth)) As I said, I am in a royally unhappy mood, so sensing mistreatment, my over-reaction today is likely. You sound like you are being more rational than I, and probably doing the best anyone could do.

Good Morning Dear Ladies,

Working away at my family dinner. Got a turkey in the oven and one dson has seasoned another and going to cook it on the grill.

Going to peel potatoes in just a little while.

It is cold here-33 right now but sunny.

One of the nicest things that happened this weekend was that I got to see two of my dearest friends. One was the associate who fell and got her shoulder broken in WM. She retired and I hadn't seen her since before her fall. We have talked on the phone but she wasn't able to drive until just recently. I hugged her and told her I missed her so very much.

The other friend was the one that went overnight. She came in for an early shift and we got to see each other.

DH and another son are out getting a few things for dinner.

Think I'll work on those potatoes now.

Good morning ladies! Indiana I'm with you on the healing sleep; it was today for me. My aunt used to make the best cranberry bread with a butter sugar sauce to pour over it. Very tart before the sauce I love tart things! I'm considering making pumpkin bread w/ dgd next time she is over and putting it in the mini loaf pans that will be fun. Good luck with your follow up visit at the Dr. today.

I had a low at 6:30 a.m., h. got up long enough to make sure I was okay instead of turning up the heat I went back. But did enough yesterday so w/ no granny duty I'm declaring it a rest day here! Got the last of the laundry folded yesterday morning. H. is still on the mend from the cold he's been fighting.

 Trying to figure out how I can grow some fun big pumpkins and or squash next year! I think I want to look at seed cataloges for ideas! Mom always orders hers in early Jan.

Elizabeth is sounding very good today.

Harriet's comments rang true for me too but it sounds like Elizabeth has the situation well in hand and we need not worry about her.

I've wasted another gazillion hours. But we have a new tv on the way (and I have buyer's remorse.) When I checked my email this morning, I was reminded it was cyber Monday so I checked to see if the tv I had settled on was on sale. Nope. Explored other options but dh won't but on the 1080p so I eliminated all the cheap TVs. Found the one I wanted on sale $80 off at Sears. The model number wasn't on the webpage and after a 20 minute phone call, I got confirmation it was the same tv. I'm boycotting Sears for their bad customer service policies (i.e. restocking charge if I buy a hair dryer, open it up to test it for sound level and then return it, without leaving the store.) So I was trying to get B est B uy to price match. After over 30 minutes on hold I had to take another phone call so I gave up.

Ended up with a retailer owned by BB and they also have a price matching policy although it is not spelled out on the website. They had $50 off for cyber Monday so I ended up paying only $32 more. And I might still get price matching. This place has full returns to their bricks and mortar stores so it was a risk free purchase. And I've shopped with them in the past and find the service great. I expect the TV by Thursday at the latest although they have until next week before I need to be concerned.

Ds called to ask what I wanted for Christmas. Not much. Told him to take one of his favourite photos that he knows I'll like and frame it for me. Or to figure out how to make memories. He doesn't know what he wants for Christmas, just no clothes (he has too many) or technology. He wants to have things be tied to significant memories now, not quick to become obsolete. He says he used the money from Grandpa to buy a piece of technology and he knows he should toss it because it isn't used but he hangs onto it because of the memories. He doesn't want to make that mistake again. Obviously, buying for him will be tricky this year, but I have guidelines now.

Dh is taking the day off from working in the office and is sitting at the table next to me playing his guitar working out chords for more hymns. I guess that is making me unwilling to leave the kitchen since I'm enjoying the soft sounds.

(Elizabeth) I understand your wanting to stay on good terms, but I'd be suspect about the no dating comment.

(Harriet) sorry you're having a tough day. Hope it gets better.

Thinking about Dee. It was cloudy here earlier, and a huge mess drifted in and it's grey and raining. I'm sure it's all up the coast like this and I feel bad that she's at a beach, likely stuck indoors with smoke all around. I like the rent-a-car idea, MT.

2 LOL hanging.
Went outside and picked up drying rack which blew down and rehung.
DH got back brakes for car and installed, then installed new rotor. So I had to take him to supply shop and out to jobsite.
stopped at 2 banks
groceries (needed stuff for more lunches). This making everybody's lunches is getting old.
Some more stuff done at my desk. Almost have month closed out.
Fielded couple phone calls.

Wanted to tell Sadie I hope she enjoys her thanksgiving meal.

Well here it is Monday and I thought I would have one more day before we leave on Wednesday. Not so! (NotsoDH!) He thinks we have to go early because of sandstorms supposedly coming and he wants in Apache by Wednesday not Thursday. GGRRRRRRR! This throws me into a panic because I need that day to transition without rushing. I am not a happy camper. Then......he was wrapping up the hotrod in heavy plastic and asked me to stand on the end while he drove the rod over it. When he rolled up on it it skidded and threw me into the wall and on top of a bunch of tools. I'm not prone to hysterics but I really let go. Not really that funny because of my back, but so far I am good. Will be stiff in the a.m. I know. I'll do exercises before I get into the car.

EMPTYNESTER - you sound really happy with your new place and I am happy for you. I'll send a big wave your way
in the direction I think you are.

HARRIET - I feel so bad for you and all you are going through. Take it easy. I know that is easy to say when we aren't experiencing what you are. Sending (((()))) your way.

Heavens to Betsy. Now dh has looked at another house and says our friend-realtor thinks I should see it. And he says they went to other house (the one that wouldn't work for dh yesterday) and dh says he wants to talk more about it now. I am getting burned out on this. Yes, Harmony, he has extreme difficulty with decisions (that's why he's still at the firm he's with, work wise) and the easiest thing is to do nothing.

And the phone call about this came right after I started breaking down the kids "Playroom" to turn into my office/crafty room.

Also, I am wanting to have a "Choir appreciation" event here at the house (where ever that is?) before tax season starts in - our choir is totally volunteer and they put in a lot of hours before the HHD in practice. Two years ago the president did a nice dinner for them but nothing was done last year. I was thinking that a Sunday morning brunch on a weekend when there's not religious school would work, or a Sunday evening light supper event.

And if dh has trouble with decisions, I hate uncertainty.

The playroom is so full of cr@p that I can barely stand it.

My morning trip out was not fruitful. I was so glad to get home out of the rain. The emissions testing place is closed on Monday; the car dealership had an estimated 1.5 hr wait in their express service (which I wasn't going to wait for) and my glasses that broke can't be fixed. So I have an appt set up to get eyes checked tomorrow for new glasses. I'm currently wearing my old ones that I gave up over a year ago, and I can tell a difference in reading. Also haven't replaced lenses in sunglasses in several years and may do that also.
