Mysterious Monday

We have bright sunshine today so our solar panels are just chugging electricity into our batteries. We will have no problem being on line all day. Last night I had to shut down and only have one light on as the batteries were down. We didn't want to run the generator so we just went to bed.

It is in the low 50's here with a bit of a wind so most of us are in sweats and/or jackets. Some hot blooded people are in shorts and sandals.

We have already been to the free breakfast and will go back for lunch. Then we will do some flea market shopping. We went a little while yesterday but most were closed and/or closing as we walked thru. I think someone said there are almost 1,000 acres of flea market here in the various sites and that doesn't count the big tent that covers over a city block. If you want it - someone will be selling it.

I'm still looking for wall art for the house. Found some yesterday but WAY out of my price range.

* sigh * It is a mystery to me how I will every learn to manage my time on my own.
I am just NOT a good self-starter. I don't know how I will EVER overcome this when I retire.
Here I sit in my housecoat... 12:16... I've done NOTHING.
I feel like I do NOTHING a lot of the time when I come in after school, of course, but I have the saving grace that I am able to say I have been sooo productive all day long... molding young minds and what not...
But when I'm home all day... oh my...

Update:
While I was posting this, dh called for help! We always leave check for our newspaper man w/the papers he picks up to recycle. Well... it is VERY windy here this morning and the check was gone. Dh checked pasture on one side of the house and I checked the other. I found it. ( I feel very smart this morning -- I put another piece of paper down where check had been and followed it to see which way the wind might have carried it.)

Oh my goodness. I must get in the shower.

Glad to hear that dd16's egg project was helpful to dd13, Harriet. Testing egg shell strength sounds like a good idea - maybe I'll ask dd16 about that too. Dd16 has not yet heard back from the state science fair director, unfortunately. I wonder if she should contact her again.

Dh grew up mountain climbing and rock climbing and glacier climbing in the Alps every summer as a teenager. He was quite good, was sometimes chosen for special trips (he is also small so he was safer to take across a glacier than a bigger person), but said he stopped the summer 2 of his friends (on different expeditions from him) died. He will do it a bit when we go on our Alpine hut tours with his family, taking some athletic (and now trained) nephews and his 2 sisters that are well-trained in climbing on those short expeditions -- but he also brings harnesses, helmets, huge ropes, ice picks, etc. with him. That makes packing for those trips a pain.

I do know someone with diabetes!! One of dd13's friends, a fellow oboe player, was in the hospital this fall for about a week, mysteriously quite ill. They discovered she had diabetes. She is the skinniest gangliest thing too.

I'm having a low-key day. I need to finalize the groc. list and get that errand done. I also need to keep the laundry going as dh is heading to Europe tonight to visit his father (he does that as much as possible these days) and 1 or 2 of his sisters as well. Then, he's heading to Lausanne to give a talk at a conference.

Ds is having his interview as I am typing. I am thinking of him and hoping it is going OK for him. We certainly don't expect him to get into this school, but the interview is good practice for him.

OK, much more has been going on around here but I'll spare you details. Though they're older, the 3 kids still manage to keep me busy. . .

I'm off to get that groc. shopping chore out of the way!!

It has been a busy morning.

Jake and I took our walk at 6 am. On our way out we delivered 1/2 a loaf of bread to 2 friends. Each on separate floors and delivered a sweater I fixed for a guy who was a neighbor in my old neighborhood.

I started on several phone calls I needed to make and set up some appointmenrs. That is finished. I picked up one box delivered by UPS. There is another one to pick up and one coming in from FedEx. One more is coming through the mail.

In the morning I will go over the minutes and agendas for the council meeting thursday.

Well, I'm glad I could do something to impress y'all. LOL -- you would NOT be impressed to see me running around out there w/the wind whipping my housecoat around my bare legs. Quite a sight for any passersby, I'm sure. I just hope none of my students drove by!

Now, I have visited my colorist. Waiting on color to set now. Waiting... waiting...
Hope I'm ready to go by the time dh is. He is in the shower now.

WHY can't I master this "s2s FIRST thing" obstacle??? I KNOW that would change my life. It is sooo sooo sooo difficult for me.

Lunch was obtained. I went to IHOP and it was CROWDED. I guess the holiday right after a paycheck sent everyone out to eat. I still need to double check documents to see that all comments were incorporated. A long and tedious process. I must just get it done.

I once remember putting stuff in the car, temporarily setting checks and deposit slip at the base of windshield, and - you got it - forgot to bring them in when I drove off. When I missed them I drove slowly along, watching all the way. When I didn't find them I started at the same spot, put same number / size of papers on the windshield and watched where they blew off. Yup, checks were nearby.

And last week, I sat my cell phone on back bumper while getting stuff out of the back of car, forgot to bring it in, heard it ringing (muffled) and after extensive search found it still on bumper, probably 15 miles away with a couple store stops. I know I got very very lucky that time.

One trip to jobsite with supplies. DH managed ok. He is gingerly walking a bit. (of course I am grumbling at him). It was a quiet day here. A little paperwork, a little cleaning up, dinner & dishes, and some quilt work.

Today was filled with bright sunshine and temps reached into the 70's!! Hard to believe this is the middle of January with this kind of weather. LO and I stayed outdoors for hours - playing, gardening, walking, pulling wagon & picking up sticks in pasture, etc etc. Wish I could capture some of this weather in an envelope and mail it to each of you who are having true winter weather.

Home from work - dh is bowling tonight. DMacs had his annual check up/wellness appointment today and is still sedated from the acepromazine he got before going in this morning. Poor guy, they still muzzled him to draw blood and to give him his bordatella inhalable vacination. I'm not sure he'll be able to get back up our stairs when I head up there.

Tomorrow dh and I need to meet with the designer again about the house - realized today that I only have two hours then must leave for a temple meeting at 5:30, so I hope that is sufficient.

I scheduled my dental work for Wednesday morning, and have a hair cut on Thursday. Manager at work wants me to sit in on a meeting with her and a client on Thursday to help document what she needs to tell this client... I still need to round up a dress for this dad-gum benefit thingie on Saturday night.

I may just read downstairs for awhile with Macs.
