SIGNIFICANT SUNDAY

Post by DeeClutter »

How can you make this day "significant". Think for us it will be a trip to Disney. (after church). There's an "all-church birthday party" this afternoon, but think we're skipping that. Thought about going yesterday but the chance of rain was a little 'iffy'.

DH is going to the Binghamton (NY) area with DS-R and others from their church today to help in last year's flood areas. They plan to be gone through Wednesday. DH called last night to see where I had extra blankets, but think he's going to DD's motorhome for a sleeping bag. They were hit hard in that area by the 2 hurricanes that came up through.

I've been doing pretty well with getting up 'significantly' early -for me. Been up most days by no later than 7. Well, that's good for me. Especially since I awoke at 2 and didn't go back to sleep until nearly 5. Hate those nights.

Have a good day, everyone -make it a significant one!

One way today can be significant is the results of my meeting with the administrator. We have a few things she may want to discuss. My ducks are lined up.

The most important way to make today a significant Sunday is to live life to the fullest.

Good morning.

Dee, please let dd know how much she has impressed me lately! Fitness and activities, weight loss goals. She's really accomplishing a lot.

Significance for dd13 today is the beginning of a new SS class. She'll be the youngest and will get there on their second meeting, but I don't think she will have missed too much and can catch up. It will be her first discussion class ever, so she's hopeful, plus there's a new girl she's never met.

I was out and about yesterday because of my ddad's hearing aid situation, but completely forgot there was a prescription to pick up across the road from one of my stops. Just can't seem to hold it all in my head. Also disappointed HRH because there WAS a list, yes, and "bread" was on it, but bread didn't come home with me. Sigh. So today, those 2 items need to be fetched home somehow!

Laundry is mostly caught up but I've realized dd will need jeans washed before the school week. So we'll do an odd wash on a Sunday after all.

Good Morning!

I agree - living life to the fullest will make a significant day.

I was up down several times during the night watching the weather. LO and I slept in our day clothes so we stayed ready. In hindsight I was a bit over prepared since no tornadoes happened at my home, but I'm A-OKay with that! :)

This is a significant Sunday. I decided a relationship I have here may not be healthy. I am going to be cautious. I haven't been with her for a while and I feel lighter because of it.

Morning y'all
It is a very significant day for me. After 20 years of teaching I am filling out my retirement forms today. I will be turning them in tomorrow. May 25th will be my official last day.

I have no regrets about doing this. I have been contemplating this move for almost a year and am very confident with my decision. The retirement specialist in the school's HR dept says the biggest mistake/problem when retiring is having people come who don't have a plan for what they will do after they retire. I have a "next" list plan already. I had a full life before I began teaching and am looking forward to this NEXT journey. I have 3 friends who retired last year. One had a plan, the others didn't. All taught
for 30 years. Can you guess which one is the happiest?

Still a very cold morning with temps in the upper50's. I'm enjoying it while I can. Have a hair cut planned for later this morning and papers to grade. I had a wicket sinus weather headache yesterday but it seems to have eased off this morning. Sadie Twd has developed a bad hacking cough. Gave her some benedryl to see if that will help. I am snuggled up in bed drinking my coffee. Willis is curled up next to me and Sweetie iswhisimg in the bathroom. Life is good at the moment :D

Cowinkle - CONGRATULATIONS!! Moving on to the NEXT phase of life is a big decision. I'm so glad you are ready and looking forward to it!!

In the "need to let it go" category.......I'm a bit shocked when I read the obituary of my former boss/friend. I am absolutely sure she wouldn't approve of it. It's like they erased important parts of her. She was married 4 times and had children in 2 of those marriages, but there is no mention of any of that. Instead the obituary says she has been with her current husband for 25 years which is sorta the truth but for over 20 of those years their relationship was an affair while they were both married to others. I know the misinformation doesn't matter at this point, but after her divorces she had "as good as it gets" relationship with her former husbands and fathers of her children and they were totally ignored. repeating to myself...........let it gooooooo...........

DH and LO are gone to church, but I chose to stay home. The wind is blowing and I don't want to wear my eye patch and/or safety glasses while at church.

Thanks Okay
About your friend....those that are close to her knows the truth. Perhaps she had prearranged her obit and wanted it to read that way. I had a friend in the same situation. She was involved in a very long relationship while both parties were married to others. She eventually married him and always consider him the love of her life. Neither wanted to tear up their marriages be because of their kids. Sometimes those close to us live strange lives.

Glad you're safe from those storms

Good morning! Today is significant for me because I'm posting well before noon! May it become a habit because that would mean I'm getting up "significantly" earlier.

The tornadoes stayed well away from my corner of the world. We did have about 30 minutes of strong, straight wind and a large (about 3'x20') piece of tin ended up in my backyard. Looks like it blew off a building someplace. For a few minutes, I thought it might fly through my dining room window. Now my dilemma is how to get rid of it. I have no truck of any kind & the tin is much too large for my car trunk. My challenge for the day, I guess.

Dee, have fun at Disney.

Indiana, may you have just the right words to say when talking with the administrator. I can't believe the trouble over your trash. One would think those details would have been worked out long ago. Maybe this is "growing pains" for a new complex??? ((Hugs)) for rethinking a friendship. Always a difficult time.

Harriet, hope your dd13 enjoys her new ss class. Isn't it frustrating when you were "right there" and forgot to do/get something? I have resorted to keeping a running list of future errands and stops & take the list along when I go out, assuming I remember it. Having a list does help, although my pride is a little bruised to think I can't juggle everything in my head.

OKay, glad you and yours are safe. Better over-prepared than under! Re obituaries: Were her children mentioned at all, or was it just the husbands who were omitted? More and more I see obituaries mentioning former spouses, divorces, etc., especially when children were involved.

Cowinkie, congrats on your upcoming retirement. You are smart to have a plan. I thought I did, but things didn't happen like I expected, which was entirely my fault.

Nancy, enjoy your dgc & the beautiful day.

Waving to everyone, have a wonderful day!
